The new guy in town

I hope you all missed me! I sure did miss you!

Zuko: They were fine, I kept them company with historyman17.

Oh that's great! I hope you guys enjoy the next chapter!

...

The noise of the busy market area started to get on Zuko's nerve. He agreed that Lin could tag along with him but he didn't think that they would stop every fifteen steps just so she could look at each vendor stand. Every time they stop he would look around and see countless faces of refugees.

' So this is the other side of war,' he thought to himself as he brought the rim of his hat lower.
He looked ahead and found a small area gathered with other people just sitting around talking. He noticed an open chair and headed for it. He took the seat near the people telling stories, he lowered his head trying to find a way into the upper ring when he heard one of the talking about something interesting.

"So did you guys hear what happened to the Dragon of the West?" one of the men asked. Zuko strained his hearing to get the rest of the story.

"No, what?" another asked.

"He's dead."

"What?" one of the men said.

"No way," said another.

"It's true. I heard that fire bitch got him."

"The princess? No surprise there," said another.

"Now that's a way to go taken out by your own family member," one of them started to say.

"But then again what do you expect from a family of crazy fire benders?" he said.

"So is that it then just the fire lord and the princess?" one of them said.

"Wait wasn't there a prince that was suppose to take over?"

"I heard he was blown up," one of them said.

"I heard he died in a blizzard up north," said another.

"You guys are idiots he's somewhere in the earth kingdom."

"How do you know?" one of them asked.

"Where else would he be?" he said.

"He could be hiding anywhere else," an older man said.

"Come on let's face it that kid doesn't have many places to go."

The men in a circle nodded their heads in agreement.

"You know I sort of feel bad for the kid," the man with a beard said.

"Why he's just another murderous fire bender."

"Yeah but how would you feel if the entire world hates you. I mean think about, the earth kingdom hates you, the water tribes hates you, hell even his own nation would like nothing more than to see him burn with the rest of us, then again I heard his father already did. Spirits only know what that does to a kid that age."

Zuko decided he heard enough, he got up and made his way back toward the market when he felt a tug on his sleeve. He turned around to find Lin holding his arm.

"There you are. You just disappeared on me back there," she said.

"Sorry I just wanted to rest for a moment."

She nodded and they headed in a different direction. She led them down toward the center of the lower ring when Zuko noticed they were close to a guard out post against the wall.

"So do you need like a passport or anything like that to get into the upper rings?" he asked her.

"Only to get into the noble area from what I've heard," she said.

"But why do you want to know?"
Zuko looked straight up before answering.

"Chances are my friends are up in the higher rings and I just needed to know how to get up there."

She looked back toward the wall, "Good luck with that."

Zuko looked back to the wall and thought to himself, ' Should be easy.'

Just as he finished that thought he felt something slam right in front of him. He looked down and saw a girl around his age wearing a light green robe with her hair tied back.

"Sorry I wasn't watching where I was going."

He extended his hand for her to take which she did.

"No it's my fault I was in a rush," she said getting up.

"Oh hi Lin how's it going?" Lin smiled.

"Fine. How about you?" she asked.

"I'm good," she said looking back at Zuko smiling.

"So who's your friend?"

Lin placed her right hand on Zuko's shoulder, "This is Lee. Lee this is my friend Jin."

Zuko gave a slight nod, "Nice to meet you." Jin smiled and look back to Lin.

"So what are you up to?" she asked her.

Lin shrugged her shoulders, "Just showing him around. Trying to help him find his-"

"Yeah that's great," Jin said cutting her off. She looked back to Zuko.

"So how long have you been in the city?" she asked him. Zuko was slightly taken aback before answering.

"A day."

' This girl is crazy,' he thought to himself.

' Nonsense she just wants to get to know you better Prince Zuko,' said a voice in his head that sounded a lot like his uncle.

' Where did you come from?' he asked the voice.

' I've always been in here,' the voice responded.

"Lee?" he heard someone asked. Zuko was brought back into reality when Jin started talking.

"Are you ok?" she asked. Zuko shook his head a little, "Yeah I'm fine."

Jin just smiled before talking, "As I was saying I was wondering if you wanted to go out later or something?" she asked him.

'He'd love to,' said the strange voice in his head.

"Sorry but I have to find my friends and it's going to take some time."

She looked down, "Okay maybe some other time then?"

Zuko sigh, "We'll see."

Jin looked back up with a big smile on her face, "Okay I'll see you later then."

She turned to wave to Lin and walked away.

' Apparently when I gave you all my knowledge and skills you didn't get the ones about how to handle girls Prince Zuko,' the voice said.

' Shut up your giving me a headache,' he told the voice.

' Get use to it.'

He looked up and notice the sun beginning to go down, "We should probably go back now," Zuko suggested.

Lin nodded in agreement and they made their way back to the small apartment.

"You know I didn't tell you where that tea shop was," she said. He looked back at her.

"Don't worry about it."

Just as they made it to the apartment dinner was done. They spent the time talking about what they were doing and how Zuko liked the city. All he did was nod every now and then.

...

He waited until everyone went to bed before he snuck out with his Blue Spirit gear. He jumped from rooftop to rooftop until he made his way past the middle ring check point easy. He knew sneaking into the noble area would be harder but then again he liked a challenge. He stopped right before the check point and waited. He watched the guards change post marking that they do it every hour or so. Just when he was about to make his move he heard movement below him and he saw two men wearing black robes talking.

"So you still watching the Avatar house?" he heard one of them ask.

"Yeah a real drag. All they do is sit in that house and do nothing."

"Well at least you're not watching the outer wall, it gets real boring watching nothing all day."

The other man smirked, "Well as long as we keep them from the King we're good," he said as they rounded the corner. Zuko sat on the rooftop and wondered why the Avatar was being watch.

' I think there's more to Ba Sing Se than we see Prince Zuko,' he heard the voice say.

' Are you just going to come and go whenever you please?' he asked.

' Yes, but that's beside the point. I think you should wait until tomorrow to search the upper ring,' the voice said.

"Agreed," Zuko whispered under his mask. He started to make his way back to the apartment when he look back toward the wall.

"Tomorrow," he started to say to himself.

"My search comes to an end."

...

And there you go, end of this chapter, hope ya all liked it!

Zuko: It's about time I found them. So what happens next?

And and see Sparkey.

Toph: Hey! Only I call him that!

*Gasp* you're right I forgot, I will call him by his name then.
