Nightmares and Daydreams

So here we are in the next chapter! I'm alone this time, so this story will be over quickly. Enjoy!

...

A few days have passed since the incident involving Hama occurred. While most of the group seems to have moved on, Zuko could still sense a hint of fear radiating from his friends. Wether it is from the witch they've encountered, or Katara's new found dark ability, or in all likelihood what he's done to the said witch. Either way he hoped they would find some form of peace on the matter. As he finished his thoughts on the matter, they emerged from the brush to a field inhabited by kola-sheep. Zuko scanned the area, still on guard for anything.

"This is it," Sokka began looking up from his map.

"The official rendezvous point for the invasion force."

Zuko tuned the rest of the conversation out as they started to set up camp. Zuko was deep in thought when he heard Aang shout, "Four days!"

"Yeah two days to rest and another two to go over the plan," Sokka said starting to lie down,

"No sweat."

"Sokka's got the right idea Aang," Katara began.

"We're here, we're ready, the best we can do is get plenty of rest," she finished laying down.

"I'm going to check out the island," Zuko said walking away.

"Why?" Katara asked. Zuko looked back.

"Not tired," he said walking away.

...

Once Zuko was out of sight Katara turned toward the others,
"Okay we need to talk."

"About what?" Toph asked sitting up.

"About what happened a few days ago," she stated.

"What about it?" Sokka questioned.

"Shouldn't we be concerned that Zuko burned a woman to death?" Katara asked.

"She did try to kill him," Sokka pointed out.

"I know," Katara said looking down.

"But the look in his eyes when he told Aang to let her burn, just doesn't sit well with me."

"I'm with Katara," Aang stated. Toph rolled her eyes.

"Of course you are," she whispered to herself.

"What?" Aang asked.

"Nothing, look," Toph began.

"I don't see the problem, she was bad and she tried to kill you guys, end of story."

"But they were taking her away," Katara stated.

"Yeah well she was imprisoned before and got out," Sokka began to explain.

"It was only a matter of time until she would do it again."

"And besides," Sokka added.

"We don't know Fire Nation law so for all we know they would have burned her at a stake anyway."

"Still she was a human being," Aang said.

"Yeah a human being forcing her will onto others," Toph said,

"And forcing you to learn something that no human should have power over," she finished pointing at Katara.

"And like I said before she tried to kill Zuko with his back turned, so yeah self defense and what not," Sokka pointed out.

"Is it really that simple?" Aang asked.

"Aang this is a war," Sokka started.

"There are going to be casualties on both sides, no matter how much we try to prevent it."

"What he said," Toph agreed, laying back down.

"Look we have a lot to worry about as is, let's just try and get some sleep," Sokka stated laying back down. Katara and Aang looked at each other, shrugging their shoulders before laying down. Little did they know of that the man in question heard everything from the safety on top of a nearby tree.
