Morning tea
Zuko: Hi everyone, so apparently WhiteShukaku091 won't be joining us for today's chapter, though I'm not going to tell why.
historyman17: I'll be here though!
Zuko: Indeed you are, because it's YOUR story. Anyway, enjoy the next chapter.
...
Zuko awoke at the break of dawn. His inner fire telling him to get started with the day and start looking for the Avatar. He took in his surroundings and found himself to be in a place foreign to him. It takes a moment for the events of yesterday to come rushing back into his mind. His body ached a little but that's what happens when you find yourself sleeping on the floor.
He got up slowly and made his way to the window that overlooked the city. He scanned the rooftops of the lowering ring buildings and thought to himself, 'What a joke.' His eyes stopped at the wall separating the lower and the middle rings. He went to his pack and took out his spyglass. Returning to the window he looked at one of the guard post at the wall. He noticed two guards standing at the post with four men on top of the wall itself.
Just when he was about to turn away he notice people going into the gates. He sees the people show the guards what looks like a scroll. The guard looks at it and hands it back to the people letting them go through.
"Great," he said to himself.
' Looks like you need a passport to get into the higher area rings,' he thought to himself.
' Or at least to get into the noble area.'
"Looks like I'll be going out for a midnight stroll."
"What was that?" said a voice from behind him. He closed his spyglass and turned around to face Ying and her baby.
"Sorry I didn't mean to intrude or anything," she said.
"No I was just talking to myself."
Ying smiled and went to the table and started to feed her child with the bottle in her hand.
"So you're up awfully early," she said. Zuko made his way back to his pack.
"Yeah I'm what you call an…morning person."
Ying nodded her head and went back to her business.
"So how old is she?" Zuko asked. Ying looked back up, "Only a few weeks."
Zuko made his way to the table to look at the child, "She has an adorable smile. What was her name again?" he asked.
"Hope," she said. Zuko nodded, "Beautiful name."
The baby looked up and smiled at Zuko, "She seems to like you," Ying said.
"Would you care for some tea?" Ying added. Zuko shook his head, "Allow me."
Zuko made his way to the small kitchen and started making tea with what they had. After a few minutes the tea was ready and he brought the kettle to the small table and poured Ying and himself a cup. He brought the cup up to his nose and inhale the aroma from it taking a small sip. He sat there savoring the flavor of the tea.
"This is the best cup of tea I've ever had!" Ying said. Zuko smiled and took another sip, "Thank you."
Just then Tahn came from their room and look at the sight before him, "Well aren't you guys up early."
Zuko nodded his head as Tahn made his way to his wife kissing her on lips and kissing his child upon the head.
"Mind if I have a taste?" he asked. Zuko took the kettle and poured another glass for him. He handed him the glass and after taking a small sip Tahn's eyes widen,
"Wow this is some great tea!" he said. Zuko nodded and took another sip of his tea. As if on cue Lin came out and made her way to the table.
"What are we drinking?" she ask weakly.
"Some of the best tea in the world!" said Ying. Zuko looked up, "Please you're too kind."
He poured her a glass and handed it to her, she took a sip and her eyes lit up.
"This is amazing!" she said.
"Where'd you learn to make tea like this?" she asked. Zuko looked down into his cup as an image of his uncle came to his mind.
"My Uncle taught me," he said with a hint of sadness in his voice. The trio decided not to push it any further and moved on with conversation.
"You know I hear they're hiring at this one tea place not too far from here," Lin said.
"I'll look in to it," Zuko said. Zuko poured himself another cup of tea.
"So how long have you been in the city?" he ask them.
"A few weeks," Tahn said.
"It was real exciting we got to meet the Avatar and his friends," Lin said. Zuko nearly choked on his tea.
"So the rumors are true. The Avatar is in the city."
"Yeah," Ying said.
"Do you know him?" she asked. Zuko raised his cup to his mouth before answering.
"You could say we're old friends."
"Well it's time for me to get going," said Tahn.
"Alright see you later," Ying said as he walked out the door. Zuko got up and headed for his pack. He grabbed his brown robe and put it on.
"I should go out too. I still need to find my friend's and I better start soon."
He started heading for the door before he was stopped, "Wait I'll go with you," Lin said.
"I know a good amount of the area and I could show you where that tea place is."
Zuko sigh and just nodded. He waited for her and they made their way out into the city.
' This is going to be a long day,' he thought to himself.
