Back in the student house I had a good first day. Except for a few awkward moments. In the meantime I walk to the kitchen and make myself a tasty salad because it is already dinner time. With the bowl under my arm I walk back to my room. On the way I meet James. I really don't feel like him. I try not to make eye contact with him, maybe he'll get the hint. "You're not a rabbit." Laughs James. Well he has not understood the hint. I give him a faint smile and want to continue. "Can I have a snack?" He asks pleadingly and he moves his hand towards the bowl. Reflexively, I tap his hand and quickly walk up the stairs. I hear James laugh loudly even when I'm upstairs and roll my eyes. When I finish the salad I decide to do some homework.
When I'm almost done there is suddenly a loud knock on the door. It won't be James knocking, will it? "Esmee, open the door." I hear Abby on the other side of the door. I jump out of my chair and open the door. "Are you coming into the living room? We are going to watch Downton Abbey with everyone." Abby says cheerfully. I laugh at the resemblance of her name and the one in the series. I just don't like Downton Abbey at all. You will not expect it from me because I am quite shy and well-behaved, I like erotic novels, but when it comes to movies and series I really like horror. I have all parts of SAW on DVD and have seen The Ring a hundred times. My favorite series is American horror story.
"Hi Esmee, are you coming or not?" Abby says through my mind. 'Yes that's OK.'
I'm coming along so that I can meet everyone for a while, but I certainly won't do it for the series.
We walk up the hall and then I see that Julia is also coming out of her room. 'Great.' I mumble and Abby chuckles. "Are you gossiping about me now?" Julia suddenly asks with raised eyebrows. "Of course not Julia." Abby assures her and the three of us walk down the stairs. "I didn't know you invited the new one to our Downton Abbey night." I hear Julia whisper. It might not have been such a good idea to go after all. That Julia is a bitch anyway.
"Just be nice, she's super sweet and not too bad." Abby whispers, but I hear everything. I smile at the thought that Abby likes me and we walk into the living room. The TV is on and the series has already started. Abby squeezes her slim body between the people already sitting on the couch. I quickly introduce myself to everyone and then stand against the wall. They all seem very nice to me, except for Julia and James.
