Chapter 15: Might Never See You Again.

"Everything will be alright," Becky didn't look at him. "Please stop crying Rebecca. I hate to see you cry."

"But you don't trust me. How do I suppose I should feel when my boyfriend doesn't trust me?"

Seth stood up from his chair to kneel before her, clasping her trembling hands. "Of course I trust you."

"Well it didn't seem like it a while  back Seth," Becky said, wriggling her hands from his grasp. She brushed the tears from her eyes and looked down into his beseeching own. "It looked like you were on Mercedes's side."

"Becky that is not true. I'm just confused about all of this but that doesn't mean I don't trust you. I do now and I always will." He sighed in exasperation, standing up to his feet. "I just don't seem to get why Mercedes will do this to you."

"Because she is fucking obsessed with you." The words made the situation feel real and too surreal for her liking. For the past hour, she had been wishing this was just a nightmare and she will wake up and things will go back to how it used to be before she fought with Mercedes. Admitting to Seth that Mercedes liked him made the situation feel all too real and Becky wondered what she will do if she gets kicked out of the wrestling school.

Mercedes still refuses to say the truth and after everything that had happened in the bathroom, all the things she said to her, Becky doubted Mercedes will find a bit of compassion in her heart to say the truth. She is already imagining the worse and the possibility of having Seth doubt her sickened her to the stomach. "She likes you," Becky repeated to Seth's stunned face. "She told me herself in the bathroom, she attacked me and. . . ." She had already tried defending herself to Josh and Seth earlier and an hour ago to Fergal's father but it all seemed pointless. "If you don't believe me, there is nothing I can do about it."

"Rebecca, I know you're upset right now and you think everyone is an enemy here including me but you need to understand I'm your boyfriend. I love you and I'm trying to help you. I trust you but Mercedes liking me is hard to believe."

Becky breathed in deeply. She needed fresh air and to have Seth hold her at this particular moment but she is afraid the latter would have to wait. She was about to head outside when she noticed Mercedes and Josh coming out of the office. She glared at her as hard as she could but Mercedes was busy playing the role of the victim to Josh to pay her any attention. Fergal and his father came out next making Becky's heart jump. Seth came to stand behind her, rubbing her shoulders as a sign of support. Becky leaned in to him, fearing the worse. "I swear I didn't do anything," she whispered for only Seth to hear, voice cracking as tears threatened to overwhelm her again.

Seth kissed the top of her head, his hands tightening around her. "I know. Relax, we will deal with this together."

"Rebecca right," Fergal's father asked her. Becky subtly nodded. The man smiled, "I was here when you came in with your friends. You might not have noticed because I mostly keep to myself and try not to have them notice me. You struck me as a nice girl, determined, passionate and above everything else willing to learn everything from the bottom. I watched some of your training and I always thought you will make a fine wrestler one day. Because of all these things, I'm not going to report this to the police." Becky heard Seth sigh in relief. "But no matter how highly I think of you, I can't allow you to train here any longer."

"But sir. . . ." Becky began to plead but Fergal's father held his hand up, silencing her.

"I don't know who is telling the truth here, whether it is you or Mercedes and I don't want to know. I built this school with hard work and principles which I will uphold for the rest of my life. I have built a good reputation for myself and this school so I can't have this incident spoil everything that every student here have accomplished. I have no choice but to sack you from the school. I'm sorry but I don't want to see you here again."

"Sir, I know her. She will never bring drugs to the school," Seth said. "She loves this. This is her life. This is everything she has ever wanted. You can't take it away from her just like that. One more chance, please sir."

Fergal's father shook his head in decline, "I don't give second chances in this cases. Think of the scandal this would have caused if any of the students were still around. They will tell their parents and the image this school has will be tarnished all because of your girlfriend, Colby. I can't let that happen." Fergal's father looked regretful as he added, "I will not inform the police of this but I will have to talk to your parents. Including yours Colby."

"No sir, please don't do that." Becky cried. If her mother finds out about this, even though she isn't at fault in any of this, her mother will never believe her and she might send her back to Ireland as punishment. The last thing Becky wanted was to go back to Dublin, away from Seth. She couldn't let that happen. "Please don't tell her, please."

"I'm sorry but I will have to. Your parents need to know about this to prevent problems in the future." Fergal's father said, "I will expect your parents here tomorrow morning. Fergal follow me to the office."

Fergal cast Becky a guilty look before following his father. Becky smiled through her tears, telling him with her eyes this wasn't his fault. She turned her attention to the person who was responsible for all of this. "Are you happy now," she asked her with every ounce of composure she could muster. "You have just destroyed my life, are you satisfied or is there more you want to do I don't know about?"

"Rebecca please calm down."

Becky struggled out of Seth's hold, turning her full glare on him instead. "Stop saying that Seth!! I have had enough of this. I have just had the worst day I could possibly have in my entire life. I thought nothing will touch the night I spent in jail but this is much worse and all this is Mercedes's fault."

"Stop blaming others for your problems Rebecca," Mercedes mocked, "You brought this upon yourself and you have to deal with it. If Seth doesn't believe you, he has every reason to doubt you."

"I trust Becky," Seth told Mercedes, "she isn't the kind of person to lie and she won't get herself expelled from the school she has always wanted to be in."

"Are you saying I'm the one lying here?" Mercedes gestured to her broken nose, "I'm the one who was bleeding here. She attacked me. What more should I say for you to believe me Seth?"

"Why would Becky bring drugs? Where did she get it from? Don't tell me she got it from school because she is always with me. None of her friends are into drugs, not even Wendy. She couldn't have gotten it from Mr. Anderson if he is indeed the one selling the drugs since they hardly even talk so if Becky is indeed the one taking the drugs, where did she get it from Mercedes?"

Mercedes seemed speechless for a moment. Becky couldn't stop her tears but it was tears of joy.  Seth trusts her and he is even defending her. It was all she needed. "How am I suppose to know that, Seth? Ask her. She is the one you need to ask, not me."

"You can't blame Mercedes, Seth." Josh finally spoke, deciding not to be the silent spectator any longer. "What reason will she have to do this?"

"What reason will Becky have to blame Mercedes," Seth countered. "I know you like her Josh but don't let your affection for her blind you. Becky has everything to lose. She and I have everything to lose in this situation. You know how hard it was for us to get into the school and now she is expelled for something she didn't do."

Josh's voice rose. Becky had to admit she has never seen Josh this angry. "Who is to blame? Mercedes? We have known her our entire lives. I'm not saying Becky is a bad person but perhaps she is addicted to drugs."

"Addiction? Becky has been with me for weeks, two to three months now and I have never seen her touch so much as an alcohol. Everything that happened in Ireland is in the past and nothing more."

Josh took Mercedes's hand and her bag, leading her to the door. "This conversation is over. Mercedes needs rest because apparently you've forgotten that she is the one who was hurt here. Goodbye Seth."

Becky shook her head with regret as Josh and Mercedes walked out. She might have lost her opportunity to train again at the wrestling school but Seth has just lost a friend too. "I am so sorry, Seth."

Seth drew her to his chest, hugging her fiercely. "This isn't your fault. It's mine. I should have defended you better in front of Fergal's father. Now you're expelled and our parents will find out about this and everything will be more chaotic than it has ever been."

"If my mother finds out, she will send me back to Ireland Seth." She looked up into his eyes to make sure he understands what she is saying. "She can't know about this. We may never see each other again if she does."

Seth shushed her, brushing her tears from her cheeks. "I won't let that happen. I will find a way to prove you're innocent before your mother even thinks of sending you back to Ireland. You can't go back to Ireland, I need you here."

She hugged him tighter, sobbing quietly in his arms. "I'm so scared."

"I will ask Mr. Anderson. Maybe he can tell me something that can clear all of this up," he stated with resolve. "I will also ask the boys who were with Mercedes that day. I will do everything. You're not going anywhere." She nodded feebly, finding it hard to believe there's anything they can do at the moment. Everything was against her and once her mother finds out. . . . "Let's get out of here. We have had enough for a day."

Seth held her the entire time on the walk to home. Seth said goodbye to her with a deep, long kiss that felt strangely like their last. He kept glancing at her as he walked to his house. Becky couldn't do so much as wave him or smile. The door wasn't locked so she knew her mother was already at home. She expected her mother to lecture the moment she entered but she found her mother sitting in the couch in the living room, her head in her hands. "Mom."

Annette jumped to her feet at the sound of Becky's voice. Becky noticed her eyes were red. She must have been crying. "Sweetheart, where were you? I have been looking for you everywhere."

"I was at the wrestling school," Becky said as if it was obvious. "What's wrong? What happened?"

"Ken's cancer is back and the doctors fear this time he won't make it. Your brother is out control. Your grandmother says she hasn't seen him for weeks now. She is scared he might be missing or hurt. . . . Rebecca, I'm afraid we have to go back to Ireland. Your father needs us."
