Chapter 9

Sorry @uksahar, I did not upload on the day I said.

The hall buzzed with anticipation—reporters, family members, and curious onlookers gathered. Their faces etched with worry, they awaited the urgent announcement from the two heirs. Each passing second heightened their anxiety; their grip on their glasses tightened as they strained to catch any news that might ease their discomfort.

"Honey, what do you think Rachel and Hannes are planning? A sudden press conference like this—it's making my heart race," Mrs. Dennis whispered, her fingers tapping nervously against her glass.

"Mrs. Dennis, try to calm down and trust your daughter. While I'm not entirely sure what's going on in her mind, I believe in her," Mr. Dennis reassured her.

"Yes, I'll try to calm down. But this brat never ceases to surprise me," Mrs. Dennis muttered, her eyes fixed on the stage.

"What are you laughing about?" Mrs, Dennis raised an eyebrow looking at her laughing husband.

"Nothing, nothing. Ah, look—Rachel and Hannes are here. Finally, your wait is over," Mr. Dennis said, his voice tinged with both excitement and concern.

"Yes, they're walking hand in hand. Quite cute. But wait, are they going to announce their marriage?" Mrs. Dennis leaned in, intrigued.

"Let's wait and see. Something doesn't feel quite right," Mr. Dennis replied, her gaze still fixed on the couple.

"Come on," Hanne's voice grated on my nerves. His hypocritical smile made my skin crawl.

"I don't need your hand. Go away," I snapped.

"Your memory is becoming weaker by the day. We have a show to perform. Now take my hand and come up already. Don't get on my nerves," he retorted.

"Huh! Your ability to smile like this while spouting venomous words is truly commendable," I muttered.

"Thank you, princess. Come up," Hannes said, pointing toward the stage. I looked up, and there was everyone—direct gazes fixed on us. The intensity was overwhelming.

I will make sure to destroy you with these hands that you took in yours. I can't wait for that day, I thought, my anger boiling.

As we ascended the stage, Hannes's secretary announced our arrival. The murmurs ceased abruptly, as if obedient children anticipating a treat.

"Now let's welcome Mr. Denies and Mr. Hannes, to break the news to all of you... please," I heard her say.

Finally, it couldn't be delayed any longer. I will have to announce the news of my marriage with Hannes, but where is Daniel? Thank goodness he wasn't here; I'd have something against him too. How do I deal with two crazy men?

"Miss Dennis," Hannes's secretary called out, snapping me from my thoughts.

"Ah, yes, coming," I replied.

"Today is truly an important day for Rachel and me. I wanted you all to be a part of it, but I won't be the one to tell you. Rachel, please..." Hannes's voice trailed off.

"Yes," I said, gathering my resolve.

I have to say it, no matter what i can't let the company go bankcrupt and more so let the event repeat that followed it.

"Mr. Hannes and I are..."

"...breaking up!" A loud voice interrupted from behind.

I turned to see the source—a familiar figure with deadly glares and dark eyes. Daniel marched closer, his long overcoat swaying. His eyes were fixated on me.

"What!" The word escaped my lips.

"What is all this?"

"What is Mr. Addams doing here?"

"Do Miss Daniel and Mr. Addams know each other?"

"Why is Mr. Addams saying this?"

The quiet hall erupted with questions, surprise, and shock. Some judged, while others anticipated exclusive news.

Daniel reached the stage, standing beside me and Hannes, facing the audience.

"Yes, you all heard it correctly. Miss Dennis and Mr. Hannes are no longer together, and that's because..." Daniel pointed toward the screen.

"What are you doing? Stop it!" I pleaded silently.

"I know what I'm doing, so stand back or else..."

Why was I reborn only to be entangled with them again, just differently? How could I escape this mess? My evidence was also destroyed.

"Huh, aren't these pictures of Mr. Hannes?"

"...Why, is there a woman too?"

"Who is she?" Another audience member asked.

"I remember; isn't she the new secretary Mr. Hannes hired?"

"So many pictures, how intimate they are. But doesn't he love Miss Dennis?"

"Who knows? Maybe they are..." The speculation continued.

"Who knows, maybe they are..."

"Really, do you think so?"

"Aren't these pictures and videos enough proof?"

"Ya...ya...ya."

"What? What is this? Why are you trying to harm my relationship with Rachel? What do you want?" retorted Hannes trying to hold on to any hope to turn things.

"Calm down, Hannes. First, listen to this."

"...So what? I love Sira.................. Marrying you won't stop me from loving her............. I am doing this for my grand..."

"What? Wasn't it destroyed? How come...you—how did you get this?" Rachel asked in shock.

"Why? Are you sad? Do you want to back out from our promise to marr....?"

"No!..What...I mean..."

"Stop. Let's first complete the show Mr. Hannes started, shall we?" Daniel extended his hand toward me.

"Sure," I said, placing my hand in his. "Let's go."

"I deleted these recordings with my own hand. How come..."

"Uh huh, you don't need to know how it came back, but you sure care to stabilize your reputation, which is already hanging by a thread, right?" Rachel said, eyeing Hannes, whose hair was now a mess, and his tie had been displaced.

"The recording played here now, but I don't mind it being played to the public. I am a generous person, Hannes. I won't mind if that's your wish," Daniel added.

"What do you want?"

Huh what do I want, your are claiming my women here and asking mw what do I want, you wish.

"Ah, easy here, Hannes. People are watching. Be careful," Rachel said with a smile.

"What are you both doing?" Mrs. Dennis's voice came from the audience.

"Nothing, Mom. Just a minute, please," I replied.

"So, Hannes..."

"Just tell me what to do."

"Hmm, now you're on the right track. Darling, what do you think I should do with him?" Rachel turned to ask Daniel.

"As you wish, darling."

"What, darling? What are you both—"

"Does it matter? Agree to our breakup and go sign the contract with me tomorrow, or be ready for the recording to be played in public," Rachel interrupted.

"I will do it, but please, please, I beg you, get me out of this," Hannes pleaded.

"Sure. I am a generous person. So if you excuse me, darling," Rachel said, getting away from Daniel and walking to the mic.

"Sure."

"Hello, all of you. Please don't be shocked by all of this. This is Hannes and Sira—a person he loves deeply. While we were engaged, we found out we weren't that compatible. So we decided to let go of each other a long time ago. These pictures are here as a testament to how much love they share. Let's support them, alright? Hannes...he's my childhood friend, and I am lucky to have him. I support him too. So we took this opportunity to tell you all that we ended our relationship a long time ago, but we'll still be best friends, isn't it, Hannes?"

"Yes, yes, of course. We'll forever be best friends."

"See...so now, if you excuse us, everyone—"

"Let go, darling," Rachel said, taking Daniel's hand to go away.

"Why aren't you moving?" Rachel asked, confused, as Daniel didn't budge.

"You...so I will have to announce our marriage, will I?"

"No, no, come on. I'll be nagged to death if I give my parents another surprise. And it's not like I'm going to run away. I already believe in Mr. Addams ability. I don't have a single place to hide in this whole world even if I run away, do I," Rachel swung Daniel's hand, her back toward the audience.

"Huh...of course, you should believe...but I do have a score to settle...let's go."
