Paprikash?

3rd Person POV

Vision stood in the kitchen, muttering to himself as he cooked.

"'A pinch of paprika,'" he said. "A pinch." He added a pinch as Wanda strolled in.

"Is that paprikash?" she asked. Not even two seconds later, the two inseparable speedsters ran into the room, one after another.

"Paprikash!" the blond cheered.

"Paprikash?" the brunette asked, making Wanda chuckle.

"I thought it might...lift your spirits," Vis said. Wanda stirred the ingredients in the pan before lifting the spoon to her lips, blowing on it and having a taste as Pietro and Chris sat on the barstools. Wanda smiled.

"Spirits lifted," she said.

"In my defense," Vis said, "I haven't actually ever...eaten anything before, so..." Wanda nodded and gestured to the pan.

"May I?" she asked. He nodded.

"Please." Chris froze, staring forward.

"Did I eat today?" she asked. Pietro looked down at her.

"Chris!" he exclaimed. She looked up at him. "You haven't eaten today?" She thought for a moment before shaking her head. "How long has it been?" She paused for a moment.

"Thirty, no...forty hours?" The platinum blond boy sighed, resting his head on his hands.

"Chris-" He pointed to the fridge. "-go eat." She and Wanda laughed, and Vis looked up at the redhead.

"Wanda?" he asked. She hummed in response. "No one dislikes you, Wanda." The younger three frowned curiously.

"Thanks," Wanda said, unsure.

"Oh, you're welcome. No, it's a...involuntary response in their amygdala. They can't help but be afraid of you." She looked up at him as Chris and Pietro watched.

"Are you?"

"My amygdala is synthetic, so..." Wanda laughed.

"I used to think of myself one way," she said. She held up her hand, red mist floating off of it. "But after this...I am something else. I'm still me, I think, but...that's not what everyone else sees." Chris smiled softly.

"That's what we see," she assured. Wanda smiled thankfully to the younger girl, and Vis motioned to the mind stone in his forehead.

"Do you know," he said, "I don't know what this is? Not really. I know it's not of this world, that it powered Loki's staff, gave you and Pietro your abilities, but...its true nature is a mystery. And yet, it is part of me." Wanda nodded.

"Are you afraid of it?"

"I wish to understand it. The more I do, the less it controls me. One day...who knows? I may even control it." Wanda nodded and looked down at the food.

"I don't know what's in this," she said, "but it is not paprika. I'm gonna go to the store. I'll be back in 20 minutes." She looked at Chris. "C, you want to give me a lift?" Said girl nodded and stood up, but Vision stood in front of Wanda, stopping her.

"Alternatively," Vis said, "we could order a pizza?" Wanda looked up at him.

"Vision," she said, "are you not letting us leave?" She tried to walk past, but he blocked her again.

"It is a question of safety." She nodded.

"I can protect myself." He held her arm to stop her, and Pietro stood up.

"Not yours. Mr. Stark would like to avoid the possibility of another public incident. Until the Accords are on a...more secured foundation." Wanda looked up at him, and Chris and Pietro looked at each other, nodding, before running off.

"And what do you want?" Wanda asked the synthetic man.

"For people to see you...as I do."

Chris' POV

Pietro, Wanda, and I were in the living room when an explosion went off a few miles away. We could see the blast from the window. We walked over to get a better look as Vision floated through the floor to watch beside us.

"What is it?" Wanda asked him. He didn't look at us.

"Stay here, please." He flew through the window, heading towards the explosion. Suddenly Wanda used her powers to throw a knife across the room. It stops dead in front of Clint's head. My jaw dropped as he moved the knife with his finger.

"Guess I shoulda knocked," he said.

"Oh my god!" Wanda exclaimed. I grinned, running over to hug the man.

"What are you doing here?" I asked him.

"Disappointing my kids," he replied. He shot arrows to both sides of the room. "I'm supposed to go water-skiing." He looked at the three of us. "Cap needs our help. Come on." The four of us were about to run out when Vision's voice rang through the room.

"Clint!" We stopped, and Clint sighed. "You should not be here." We turned to look at him.

"Really?" Clint asked. "I retire for, what, like five minutes, and it all goes to shit."

"Please consider the consequences of your actions." Clint paused, then nodded.

"Okay, they're considered." A force field shot out from the arrows, holding Vis in place. "Okay, we gotta go." Clint grabbed Wanda's hand and went to run off but noticed Wanda hanging back. He pointed towards the door. "It's this way." She shook her head.

"I've caused enough problems." He sighed, motioning for Pietro and I to stay where we were before running back.

"You gotta help me, Wanda," he said. "Look, you wanna mope, can go to high school. You wanna make amends, you get off your ass." He looked up as Vis started to break the force field. "Shit." Vis broke free and punched Clint to the floor, but the blond recovered quickly, looking down as he pulled out his baton. "I knew I should've stretched." He extended the baton and tried to hit Vision, but the blows went through him. I went to run forward, but Clint held up a hand, resorting to punches, then trying the baton again.

It broke.

Clint tried to kick Vision, but his leg went right through him. Vision wrapped Clint in a headlock.

"Clint," he said, "you can't overpower me."

"I know I can't." He grinned. "But she can." Vis looked over at Wanda, who was summoning her magic.

"Vision," she said, "that's enough. Let him go. We're leaving." Vis shook his head.

"I can't let you." She held her hands apart, glowing with energy. Clint slipped from Vision's grasp. "I'm sorry." She forced him down to his knees, the floor cracking beneath him.

"If you do this," he said, "they will never stop being afraid of you."

"I can't control their fear, only my own." She moved closer, and Vision glowed from within and crashed through the floor, going through several floors beneath. We all ran over to the enormous hole in the ground, and I sighed.

"Damn," I muttered. Clint winced.

"Oh..." He looked up at us. "Come on. We got one more stop."
