Alec's POV
I sighed walking the hallways of Amberlin High School before I was pushed onto the floor and started to get kicked. "Alec loserwood," Jace Herondale laughed leaving me onto the cold floor. I stayed still until I heard footsteps noticing a hand in front of me. "Are you okay?" A voice asked pulling me up. "Yeah," I lied until I realized who I was talking to. Magnus Bane, another student who gets bullied but not as much as me for being a freewheeling bisexual.
"You're Alec, right? Alec Lightwood?"
"Y-yeah"
Magnus smiled sadly before pulling me into an embrace. "You can't lie to me. I get bullied too," he sighed removing himself from my touch. "I didn't know who you were at first," I admitted.
"That makes sense then. Your sister and her boyfriend are the only ones who support you, right?"
"Yeah"
"Now you have three"
"Excuse me?"
"I support you as well"
"Well obviously"
"Thanks"
"I didn't mean it like that"
Magnus laughed and patted me on my shoulder. "I know. I was just messing with someone so handsome," he whispered. "You think I'm handsome?" I asked, raising an eyebrow and also realizing I didn't blush.
"Why of course. Do you have a phone by the chance?"
"Why is that relevant?"
Magnus moved closer to me, close enough that I could feel his breath. "Because I want to know you better," he whispered in my ear making me shiver. "Y-yeah, I have a phone," I stuttered before grabbing my phone, unlocked it, opened the contacts and handed it to Magnus who quickly typed in his number and sent a text.
"There. Now you have my number. Call me"
My heart skipped a beat when he walked past me to go to his class while I went to mine. The teacher was middle in a lesson pausing when he noticed me making most of the class laugh except Izzy. "The gay is late once again," Clary Fray laughed staring at me. "That's enough, Clarissa," Mr. Morgenstern spoke. "I'm sorry I'm late. I ran into some complications," I replied. "Oh for sure," Sebastian Verlac spoke. "Don't you have better things to do, Sebastian?" A familiar voice asked behind me. "Mr. Bane, that's enough unless you want another detention," Mr. Morgenstern warned.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know what is wrong about standing up for a friend just because he's different. I stand up for myself all the time and you're saying I'm not allowed to stand up for Alexander"
"I'm not saying that, Mr. Bane"
Magnus laughed gently before taking my arm and guided me to the very back row. "I'm a friend now? We just met each other," I whispered. "Of course you're my friend. Join me for lunch? My treat," Magnus whispered.
"Only if Izzy and Salmon can come"
"Of course. Salmon is an interesting name...."
"It's actually not his real name, I just keep forgetting it"
Magnus raised an eyebrow and smiled gently. "That happens a lot to me as well," he spoke staring in my eyes.
