Have you ever wanted to write a teacherXstudent fic but never wanted to deal with those pesky statutory rape laws?

WELL! Do I have some news for you!
You can avoid those laws quite easily if you simply follow these intructions:

-Have the setting be in New Jersey (Trust me, this matters)

-Make sure your student is at least 16 years old

-Make the year 2016 or earlier

Now, you may be wondering "Why these specific instructions?" Well, that's because I've done some research. In New Jersey there is no law against sexual and romantic relations between a teacher and a student of legal age. Why 16 or older? The New Jersey age of consent is 16. Why 2016 or earlier? All the information I've gathered was from 2016 or earlier, I don't know if anything has changed since then.

Now before you go off saying there is no penalty for teacher/student relationships I have some bad news.....even though no incarceration will take place, the teacher will most likely lose their job and there is a possibility that their teaching license may be suspended or revoked completely.
