Chapter 9

*Bhairavi Pov*

"What are you doing?" I questioned him, not taking another step to reach the water.

"You pleaded me to not let Jacey be the guard for you so I took her place." He replied with a shrug.

"I did not plead you, but I asked you. And I do not need a man to be here in close for this activity." I mumbled gesturing him to go away.

"What difference is there? We are already sharing a single and small cot." He mumbled, taking a step near me.

"I do not wish to bath today." I uttered, and started walking back towards the hut, but he stopped with a hold on my wrist.

"I am just here to inform that Jacey and Gavin will not be the one's who will be near you." He uttered making me turn around with a smile.

"I appreciate for listening to me." I said with still a small smile.

"It is not for you. It seems that you are disrespecting the Prince and Princess of this land which will get us both into trouble. So, I am saving myself from it." He retorted with a shrug.

"And I will be looking after you from this moment except while you take a bath as you need no one to be on guard I assume." He added and I controlled before I can give an eye roll to him.

"So, the future ruler of Nadir fears that he may get into the problem by the disrespect the prince and princess may face and wants to look after his slave by himself for the whole day. I already can feel the pity for this land in the future." I uttered staring into his eyes before stepping away from him to reach the water.

"You are too smart for your title." He mumbled before walking away leaving me alone here.

"You are too dumb to know my title." I retorted to myself with a chuckle and had a small bath.

"So, where are we going?" I questioned him after we both had the morning food in the hut.

"I do not know! I am here like to keep an eye on you so you are the one who needs to decide where to go and where to not." He replied with his usual shrug.

"What do you all do for training?" I questioned him out of a curiousness after seeing that these are heavy built than some of our soldiers.

"That is my land's secret." He replied, stepping outside the hut following me.

"Is that a barn?" I asked him, ignoring his untrusting attitude.

"Yes! And there are horses filled with it." He replied and I smiled stepping near it.

"Wait!" he shouted stopping me in my steps.

"You shouldn't go near them." He mumbled with a frown.

"Alastair! I do not have anything near me to hurt those animals and I am sure they do not know how to speak to tell me your land's secrets." I mumbled back with the same frown.

"And this is the reason for your stay getting prolonged by every second." He mumbled with a chuckle and stepped inside the barn holding my hand.

"We bought a few of them from palmer and they are still adjusting to the surroundings because of which they are little wild at present." He explained and I stared at them understanding their poor situation.

"That is what happens if you pull someone from their birthplace." I mumbled stepping near them with him still holding my wrist.

"So, Palmer is your birth place?" He questioned me.

"I shouldn't say anything about my land." I retorted his words and all he did was a chuckle on my face.

"Choose one!" he whispered, standing behind me in my ear and my widened with his proximity.

I glanced around and chose a black one in the corner and he pulled it outside getting it into the normal pace whispering sweet words to it while brushing its coat.

"She is ready!" he mumbled stepping back.

"I cannot ride it with this gown." I mumbled frowning at him.

"You are not going to ride on it." He uttered before climbing it and placed a hand for me.

"No! I do not want to sit with you like I am some child." I mumbled with a long shake of my head.

"You are not a child and just climb on." He mumbled and with much reluctance I took his hold and got on it with my body to the side.

I have never been on a horse in this position and I have always ridden it in a normal way even while learning it. But now I am sitting here with the man behind me holding me like I am about to fall any time on the ground.

"Are you comfortable?" he questioned placing his one hand on my back and the other on my stomach.

I would have shouted in negative if not for his hands around me and all I did was a small cough. With his hands at the same places he moved forward and started the riding with a jerk making me fall on his chest making me stiff.

"No need to fear as I am here to not get you fall." He whispered in a husky tone and my stiffness got stiffer.

After a few moments of time, I felt the relaxation without my realization and I closed my eyes. In a second I blinked my eyes and moved away from his body when I realized that I am getting attached to the person whom I may not see after I leave from here.

"What happened?" he questioned.

"When will I leave?" I questioned him back.

"Why are you hell bent on leaving from here? Who is torturing you?" He screamed, making the horse stop from moving.

"Why are hell bent on not letting me leave when I know that everyone thinks me as a danger to you and you too do not trust me?" I screamed back moving my head to stare at him making the distance squeeze between us.

"This land and this new position I will get after my work has more importance to me than anything." He mumbled.

"I do not want your position if you think that I want it to be mine." I mumbled and he chuckled pressing his forehead to mine making my eyes close.

"You are not going anywhere, Bhairavi. And it turns out to be a good decision of mine after every second I spend with you." Before I could understand his words he planted his lips on my cheek and started riding.

No! I cannot stay here forever, which would result in not fulfilling my Father's wishes and dreams along with my Mother's. My people need me or I do not know how well they adjust to the new rulers.

"Look at that." He whispered and I glanced ahead to see the water, which is covered very large distance and then the sky with clouds.

"What is it?" I questioned him, with a frown thinking that I missed some magical sight here.

"It is nothing! You were just staring at the ground so I decided to change some other sight to your eyes." He replied and I sighed feeling warmth inside even when I shouldn't making me more confuse.

"We all feel so protected when our parents are around us, but when they are taken away from us, we get to know many things." I mumbled laying my back to his chest.

"Like?" he questioned holding me in a grip.

"Like the evils in this world. Like the fight we have to do everyday for the protection. With the parents the life seemed to be the most simple one anyone lead, but now I wish they taught me how to fight with the invisible wars we have in our minds." I replied closing my eyes.

"What about your parents?" I questioned him when I remembered that I never saw them.

"They are not here." He replied and I understood his words.

"I apologize for your loss." I mumbled placing my hand on the hand he is holding me with.

"They are not dead! They are still alive." He corrected me.

"Then I apologize for the assumption. So where are they?" I questioned him wanting to see how proud must be his parents.

"I do not know! Must be somewhere." He replied in a tight tone.

"You do not know there are they? How can that be possible?" I questioned him turning to know about this properly.

"I just do not know, ok! And why do you even need to know about where are my parents and who are they? Do not forget you are just my slave and be like one." He shouted in a cold tone with a hard look in his eyes before turning around to ride back.

I sat still until we reached the hut and slowly mumbled "I shouldn't have asked you about them and it is not my place as I am stranger."

"Just go inside the hut right this minute!" he said in a cold tone and I climbed down frowning.

"You cannot be angry at me for a thing about which I do not even know. You do not have an ink on you face written telling everyone to not ask about your parents." I calmly mumbled before turning around inside the hut and locked the door.

He didn't return until the past midnight while I just lay on the cot holding my grumbling stomach. He didn't bring the food like the before night and started to remove his tunic.

Then we heard a knock on the door, making both of us glance at it to see Colton standing with a dish in his hands.

"I am not hungry, Colton." Alastair mumbled to him in an irritated tone.

"This is not for you. This is for Bhairavi." He mumbled passing the dish.

"You have my gratitude for this help." I mumbled smiling at him.

"I should apologize for not bringing it before in the afternoon as I forgot that you are not to be entered in the eating place. I will bring it everyday without a miss." He promised and walked outside closing the door on his back.

I finished the food and lay on the cot while he just sharpened his sword. After a few moments he joined me and I moved to the end of the cot.

"We both are not enough for this cot." That's all he mumbled before laying his hand around me, but I didn't respond to his words or even his hand and drifted off into sleep.
