Chapter 3: The Adventure Begins

Cry's pov:

I gaped at him. 'Wha-how?'

"What? You okay bro?" Felix asks me. "H-how do you not know (y/n)?" I ask.

"The name is familiar but the face ain't. Hey, you okay Cry?" Felix answers.

"Y-yeah...I-I'm o-okay." I spit out.

"You sure? Your stutter is back. I think your lying to me~" Felix smirks. I stood there thinking about two choices. 1 try to explain who (y/n) was or 2 push him out and go into the game...

Choice 2 it is! I push him out and he fell to the ground. I slam the door shut while yelling, "Sorry Felix! Take care of A.K. for me!!"

I ran to the office room on the other side of the house and heard Felix yell, "But that cat hates meeeeeee!!"

"Ogre...I'm ready." I barge in. He turns around and behind him was virus cry. Let's just say I was NOT happy with this.

Timeskipu~

"Let's try this again, shall we?" Ogre said the next day. I nod and laid back in my chair.

With a blink of my eye I was flying through some portal. Blue and white sparks surrounded me. Swirls of blue and white circles around me like I was prey. I reach my hand out to touch it only to get shocked. I pull me hand back and cradle my hand. I was amazed, how could I have missed this? Perhaps I was unconscious...next thing I know I wake up on a bed.

"If I remember...this is after Sarah died." I mumbled. I run my fingers through my brown hair.

"Oh my god..." I mumble as I realized what Joel had experienced 20 years ago. If I remember, it's now...summer.

A knock on the door made me jump. I take all of my willpower to get up and stretch. I heard and felt my bones crack into place. I sigh and walk over to the door. Tess looked at me and walked in. I opened the door a little wider and closed it after she was in.

'Yeah, it's totally your house. Just walk in and drink my alcohol, I don't mind.' I can hear (y/n)'s voice sarcastically say. A smile rises onto my masked face at the thought.

"How was your morning?" Tess asks. I shrugged.

"Want one?" She poured herself a cup of beer (is it that? I think it's alcohol. But it's not wine cuz that's fancy.) and tried to offer me some.

"No, I don't...want one." I sigh. I'll have to play with the game. Do I even know the lines??

"Well, I have some interesting news..." She starts to say but I cut her off. Like I was suppose to say it.

"Where were you Tess?" I blurt out. I raise an eyebrow, it's like I am the character. But I have no idea what to say...it comes out naturally. If that makes sense.

"West End district. Hey, we had a drop to make." She takes a sip of her drink.

"We. We had a drop to make." I turn around to face her and walk towards her.

"Yeah well, you wanted to be left alone, remember?" She grabs the rag that magically appeared in my hand. My face becomes a real poker face as I try to remember when I picked that up...

"So I'll take one guess," I said after awhile. I turned around and placed my hands on the kitchen counter.

"the whole deal went south. And the client made off with our pills. Is that about it?" I said, anger laced with it.

I heard her take one more sip as she became quiet. After hearing me she snorted and I turned around to face her.

"Deal went off without a hitch. Enough ration cards to last us a couple of months-easy." I look at her.

"You wanna explain this?" I point to my cheek.

"I was on my way back here and I got jumped by these 2 a(rse)holes, alright?" She rolls her eyes.

"Yeah they got a few hits in but...look I managed." She raises her arms up and gave me a look. I sigh and look at the rag. I walked towards her.

"Gimme that." I snatched the rag and started to wipe the blood off her face.

"Are these a(rse)holes still with us?" A small smile rises on my face. She chuckles and looked at me.

"Now that's funny." She said. I raise an eyebrow even though she couldn't see my face.

"Did you at least find out who they were?" I ask, worried that they might try to jump us again. I at least wanna know so we can be cautious.

"Yeah, look they were a couple of nobodies-they don't matter." She reassures me. Then she grabs my wrist and stops me.

"What matters is that Robert f(udging) sent them." She continued. I look at her.

"Our Robert?" I say in disbelief.

"He knows that we're after him. He figures he's gonna get us first." She answers. I walk away from her and start to pace. 'Just follow the plot. Try to make yourself look like you're actually apart of this game.' I thought.

"That son of a (female dog). He's smart-" I throw the rag onto the counter.

"No, he's not smart enough..." She walks in front of me with a smile. I look up at her.

"I know where he's hiding." She whispers.

"Like he(ck) you do." I sit up and crossed my arms.

"Old warehouse in Area 5-can't say for how long though." She walks towards the window and looks at me.

"Well, I'm ready now, yeah?" I say with my awesome western voice.

"Oh, I can do now." We both walk out the door with murderous faces. Er-well besides me. I mean....

Mask, duh.

We walk out into the street, I could still smell gas from cars and other things. The buildings around us were run down and broken.

"The checkpoint's still open." Tess turns to me. I nod.

"Only got a few hours left until curfew." I mumble.

"We better hurry up then." She starts to run and I follow after her.

(I'm tired of typing who says what so I'll be using bold for Tess and regular for Cry. Italics for other people)

We walk through alleyways and I look around. "Seek the Fire" was spray painted onto the wall. 'I guess that involves the Fireflies.' I think. I sigh.

"Robert huh? Sounds like a nice dude." I mumble.

"Look at that. Ration line hasn't opened yet. Must be running low again."

We continue to walk. In the corner of the street, in front of us. 3 guards stood between police line barriers. 2 men in suits pull out 2 people. One wearing a green shirt and the other a red shirt.

They were forced onto the ground on their knees with their hands behind their heads.

"I didn't do anything wrong! This is such f(rying) bull(horns). I bet those uniforms over there, don't get half rations!!" The green guy said. I stood there, wanting to interfere with this. But something told me no. So I stood there quietly, as I watched the guys scan them with this device. I'm guessing to see if your infected-or naw.

(Cry XD)

A lady wasn't so lucky. Immediately they held her down as her cries were ignored. Something was injected into her and she started to twitch around. Soon her body didn't move anymore.

"Alright, she's down." One of the guys in suits said. The last one refused and pushed away the scanner. He tried to run but was instantly shot down.

"Shut up! Consider yourself lucky. That's what happens when you hide out in a condemned building. Call the clean up crew." That's when I walked away. I was still processing everything that just happened.

I quickly caught up to Tess who didn't mind at all.

"Seems like more people are getting infected."

"That just means more people are sneaking out. We're through here."

"I got us all new papers. They shouldn't give us any static up there. Just play it cool." There was so many voices talking about everything that I just felt a little overwhelmed.

I followed Tess to the checkpoint.

"Let me see your ID." The guard said. I gave him our papers and he looked up at me suspiciously.

"What's your business here." He asked.

"Got the day off. Visiting a friend." I say smoothly. God d(azzishannzi).

I love being the main character.

The guard nodded and gave us back our papers.

"Alright. Move on through."

"Thanks." I nod. The truck driving behind him suddenly blew up. We all crouched and covered our heads.

"Woah!" I said in surprise. The gates were instantly closed as the guard told us to get out of there.

"Close it up!"

"Fireflies!!" Everyone yelled. Shots were fired and I look at Tess. She says something to me and nodded her head back.

I did a quick turn and ran after Tess. 'All we wanted to do was go through a gate. Then a car blew up and someone died while it happened. I hate this place. F(ry) it!!' I thought angrily.

We ran into a building as someone spoke in the speakers. I went in and Tess instantly closed the door behind me.

"F(rench)...so much for the easy route. Patch yourself up, alright." She glared the door and gave me a roll of bandages. I wrapped my wrists that was burned from the explosion. Huh, didn't notice that. Tess sighs.

"They're gonna close all the checkpoints. We're gonna have to go around the outside." She stomped down the hallway, huffing out breaths. I followed behind her quietly.

"Outside the wall?"

"Or we could just let Robert go." She says sarcastically. I scoff.

"Cute."

"Hey Tess! Did you see that s(hizzle)?!"

"I was there. Hey, how's the East Tunnel looking?"

"It's clear. I just used it. No patrols. Where you off to?" The guy started to follow us.

"Gonna pay Robert a visit."

"You too?"

"Who else is looking for him?" The sirens blaring outside was still ringing. It was like one of those annoying elementary school fire drills. Where the sirens kept on blaring nonstop.

"Uh, Marlene. She's been asking around, trying to find him."

"Marlene? What do the Fireflies need with Robert?"

"You think she'd tell me?"

"Well, what did you tell her?"

"The truth. I got no idea where he's hiding."

"Good man. Hey, you stay out of trouble, alright? Military's gonna be out in force soon."

"Yeah-see you around." That's when we parted ways with him and continued walking.

"Marlene lookin' for Robert? What do you make of that?"

"I don't like it. We better find him before the Fireflies do."

"This is us." Tess sighs.

"Hey guys. How's it going?"

"S(hiznazzle)'s stirring up out there. How we lookin' over here?" This girl has so many connections! How many people does she know?!

"Ah, it's been quiet. No signs of military or infected."

"That's what I like to hear." Tess walks to the side of a small bookshelf. Holding a T.V, old books, and a bottle with 2 shot glasses.

"Cry, give me a hand with this." Huh, so they put my name. Good to know, I don't want to be called Joel even though that's a cool name. Actually, maybe I want to be called Joel secretly but I-I'm rambling again. I shake out of my thoughts and rushed to the other side. I pulled it and she pushed it. The things in the bookshelf tumbled down from the movement. Behind the shelf was a huge hole.

"Ya'll take it easy out there." The man's raspy voice filled my ears before I jumped down after Tess.

And that's when my adventure began.

To find (y/n) and get the hell out of here.

A/n: Heyyo! Each chapter will be one episode. As you can see, THIS CHAPTER IS LONGER!! I only used one bad word. I don't think it's a bad word...is it? If it isn't then comment if you want me to just use it.

I'm running out of words so I'll just use random words cuz I'm awesome like that.

I will be using all lines from The Last Of Us. So chapters may be awhile if it's gonna be this long. I really enjoyed this so I can't wait to put up more chapters.

See I made up the last chapters with a really long one. The italics, bold, and regular I will use. So keep it in mind. :)

Anywho, the story had just started so...yeah. Also, I'll have a new goodbye thing. So yeah.

More to come.
Byeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
