Chapter 6
As expected, the mysterious villain named Shigaraki was not found. Probably because of his portal buddy. Were they buddies? Sans wasn't sure, they didn't seem too close when Sans saw the two.
The mall was shut down after that, people questioned for sightings, and the students taken out to calm down. Sans had waved them off, then went to his own house, welcomed by his eager cat. She was a sweetie. Sans should bring her in sometime, his students would really like that.
Time passed. No incidents with the villains, it seems. Looks like they were backing off. Probably planning something, but there wasn't much he could do about that. Well, he could do something, but his desire to lacked.
Honestly, the Sports Festival hit him like a truck. Sans didn't know there was one until he was told the week before. And because good old Aizawa was busy recovering, that meant Sans had to prepare them on his own. Without much knowledge on the event in the first place.
"Sans!"
That call had happened after one class. When Sans was walking away, he had turned to find Bakugou standing there, panting from running after him.
"I want to train for the festival!" He said.
"Alright? If you want me to sign you a pass for the training grounds, you can -"
"No, I want -" He paused, straightening, "I want you. To train me."
Sans couldn't help it. He really couldn't. He snorted.
Bakugou's face fell quickly at the sound, but Sans reassured him. "No, no, I'm not laughing at you, I'm just laughing at the idea of me training someone. I'm a real bad teach, ya know."
"I know."
"And my magic is completely different than a quirk, so I might not be able to help you."
"I fucking - just do it, alright!" After he caught himself raising his voice, he paused. "Uh... please do it?"
"Since ya said please." Sans winked at him.
A few of the other students were at the training grounds when they both arrived. Deku and his so-not-dates were all three training together. There was potential in both Todoroki and Uraraka, and it was clear both had major crushes on Deku. Their type was cute, he presumed. Deku was easiest the cutest in class. Mineta could have been that, but uh... yeah, he drove away any possible romance with his overwhelming personality of pure sexualization and guilt tripping. A terrible combination that made people scatter with annoyed scowls.
Deku was working on pushups, while both Todoroki and Uraraka sat on his back. They had settled into a nice routine where Todo would add more ice to his weight. Ura would deplete their gravity if he became overwhelmed. They worked well together. Judging by Deku's history of dates, Ura, the poor girl, didn't have much of a chance with him.
"Sans! You're here!" Ura exclaimed when she saw him, widely waving her hand. "Hi Sans!"
"Heya kiddos," Sans said, walking up to them. "Yer guys training here today too?"
"Are you training?" Her eyes practically lit up at the idea, shoulders rising. "Please? Please?"
"That'd be so cool!" Deku said from the ground, "Can we watch some of your magic!"
"Eh, I guess I could do one trick with m'a magic. But I promised -"
"She's going to help me train!" Bakugou snapped quickly at them. "Just... after one magic trick."
Heh. Looks like even Bakugou wanted to see a little.
"I dunno what to do, though, since yer already saw most of my magic," Sans said, "I'm a skeleton monster so I got limited magic too, I don't have an intense range of attacks." He tapped the bottom of his chin. "I guess I can... alright, I'll show yer guys something really cool, but you can't tell anyone, 'right? It's kinda really dangerous, and if people knew I had the ability to do this I'd probably be removed from a classroom setting since these things can misfire. They can get a lil emotional."
"Promise!" The four chirped in. Deku stopped working out so he could see the magic as everyone spoke.
It's not particularly hard to summon a Gaster Blaster. It was more heavy on the magic, but that wasn't the main issue. His Gaster Blasters were a little sentient. Not by much, but they could portray the emotions he had inside of his soul, and act on them directly. Which was often disastrous when he was pissed. There was a reason why Sans could never let himself become overrun by anger. Because they'd summon and start shooting away.
The Gaster Blaster hovered a few feet above the floor, dragging it's eye sockets open lazily. Once realized it was formed, the attack blinked steadily, glancing at the children by Sans.
The freakout was obvious.
"THAT IS SO COOL!" Deku shrieked, giddily bouncing to his feet like a child on Christmas and running up to the attack.
Everyone had similar reactions. Bakugou was stuttering on his words, muttering small phrases as he stared at it, like "that's super cool" and "holy shit I want one". Uraraka squealed as hard as Deku did. Todoroki just walked up with a soft smile, looking rather impressed.
Sans thought kids in a world of quirks would be used to this kinda stuff. Guess magic and quirks were kinda different, huh.
"Yer guys can pet it, they don't bite." As an example, Sans put one of his pale hands onto the side of the jawline and ran a hand down softly. "You pet 'em enough they purr sometimes."
"NO WAY!"
All of them eagerly begun petting, and soon, training was completely forgotten as they engaged in light discussion. Mostly about cute animals. They asked a few questions about his Gaster Blaster, but Sans only gave a few empty excuses. These things, if someone knew their power, could wipe out the entire school. He'd rather keep their power and danger level to himself. Didn't want anyone kidnapping him for his powers, a fact his good friend (still in the hospital) warned Sans about. Quirks based on other peoples quirks could make Sans a valuable allie or a foe who must be killed. And some people didn't understand his grey neutrality to heroes and villains, which could lead to some dangerous encounters. After all, he didn't adhere to either side. Which meant he would not receive help from either side in the general public. It was a dangerous line to be walking, but he'd be damned if he didn't walk the line. Someone had to do it.
"Honestly, I am kind of glad we're doing the sports festival," Uraraka said quietly, petting the snout of the dragon headed attack. "But I'm bummed it's taking place at the end of this week. Since lovers day is on Friday and the festival is this weekend, we're going to be spending so much time training it won't be a very fun day."
"Lovers -"
Once again, Sans was interrupted by Bakugou, who swiftly jumped to his feet in a panic. "WAIT, THAT'S THIS WEEK!"
"Yeah, it's friday," Deku said, "But I thought you didn't like the day, said it was for um... I don't want to repeat the word."
Without responding, he simply ran off. Through the doors of the training facility in a full sprint. Alright.
"I think he has a special lover in mind and forgot the date," Todo said, brushing aside strands of white and red hair, "And now he's frantically running out to get gifts for them."
