chapter one

"FUCK!"

Yoongi repeatedly kicked his feet against his mattress, his face buried in his pillow. How could he have been so stupid? He should have been more careful, should not have hurt Hoseok. Why had he thought it would be a good idea to reject him? "I am so selfish..." He sighed and turned around, staring at the ceiling trying to hold back the tears. He had no right to cry. He was the one who fucked everything up, after all. "I need coffee."

Yoongi chose to visit the small coffee shop down the street - he did not want to meet anyone he knew, and he had barely ever seen anyone come here. When he opened the door he was greeted by the sound of small bells and the smell of coffee beans. A man who was about his age sat on a stool behind the counter, his head resting next to a cup of - probably cold - coffee. The rest of the small shop was empty. Yoongi slowly came closer. "Excuse me?" No reaction. He could see that the man was drooling onto the countertop. He then warily reached out to gently tap the guy's arm. "Excuse me."

Suddenly the man jumped and fell off the stool with a surprised scream. "You startled me." He struggled to get

up and Yoongi apologized. "It's alright. Barely anyone comes here, you know? I've had like, three customers who'd come here some times a week, but one of them just disappeared. Probably got sick of this small shop. Can't blame him, though." The man smiled awkwardly. "Anyways, my name is Namjoon. How can I help you?" Yoongi forced himself to smile, still feeling a bit uncomfortable. "A cup of americano, please." Namjoon replied with an "okay" and started making the order. "So how did you find this wreck of a coffee shop, huh?"

Yoongi scratched the back of his neck. "Well, I walk past this shop almost every day on my way to college. I live around here, actually. I chose to come here because I don't really want to meet anyone I know." He felt embarrassed.

"I see. Having a bad day?" Namjoon put the damping cup of coffee and a cookie onto a small plate and gave it to Yoongi. "Thanks. Yeah, pretty much." He did not like talking about his feelings, especially not to complete strangers, but something about Namjoon's calmness, the way he spoke so casually, made him seem trustworthy. He expected Namjoon to ask Yoongi to go into detail but he did not and he understood that he did not want to make him feel uncomfrotable by doing so.

"I knew someone." He took a sip of his coffee. "They are going to college with me. Anyways, one day they got my number - I have no idea how they managed to do that - and we started hanging out eventually. And, I don't know - they told me they liked me. The thing is - I started liking them too. But I thought it was wrong so I rejected them. They got into an accident and forgot a lot of stuff - me, too. It's my fault... God, I feel like shit." Namjoon nodded. "I might be completely wrong but... is that someone a guy?" Yoongi almost choked on his coffee. "How did you know?" He smiled to himself. "You would have said 'her' if it was a girl. People are not afraid to let everyone know they are straight, but when they are gay they keep making it the biggest secret. I can't blame you, though. I was in denial before I started going out with my boyfriend, too."

"So you're gay?"

"Yeah. If you ever need to talk about gay stuff, call me!" He scribbled his number onto a piece of paper and gave it to him.

Yoongi smiled.

"Thank you."
