Nineteen- Open Door Policy
Ford looked at Gideon.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"Pacifia has an amulet which gives her psychic abilities. The show she puts on is just a cover. A clever way to strengthen her powers." Ford nodded.
"Why is she back in Gravity Falls?" Gideon sighed, and closed his eyes dramatically.
"She has important business to attend to in town. That's all she's told me. But she has full control of her parents, so nobody will get in her way if we do nothing." He looked up at me. "The only thing I know is that she wants Mabel." Ford gasped.
"She's going to have to get through me."
"And I as well. As irritating as she can be, Pacifia can do much harm to a person's mind. That's what she did to her mother." Ford thought.
"Why could Pacifica possibly want Mabel?" He pondered.
"I can answer that as well." Gideon replied. "Pacifia can't read Mabel. The only other person she's never been able to read is myself, so she believes that Mabel has an amulet." Ford nodded, and looked at me.
"Mabel, for your safety I think it's time you and I came clean to one another." He said.
"I agree. No more secrets." I held out my pinky finger to my Uncle.
"Um... What are you doing?" He asked, confused. I laughed.
"Seriously, Ford? You don't know what a pinky promise is?" Ford shook his head.
"I'm afraid not."
"Here, hold out your pinky finger!" I thought for a second. "Or, uh... Your sixth finger." Ford held out his smallest finger.
"You know, technically the thumb isn't a finger, but... Nevermind." Grinning, I grabbed his little finger with mine.
"Now we shake our fingers and promise to tell eachother everything." Ford looked at our hands quizzically.
"What makes this different from a regular promise?" He asked.
"You can't break a pinky promise." Ford gulped.
"An unbreakable oath?" I nodded, looking at Ford seriously.
"My brother Dipper takes pinky promises so seriously that he's never broken one. That's how you know he trusts you." Ford gulped again.
"Then I promise to honor this promise to the best of my ability." Gideon nodded.
"I'll have to get home before my father gets suspicious, but I'll do some research." He got up and made his way to the door, opening it just as Robbie Corduroy went to open it.
"Oh. Hey there."
"Robbie. The museum is closed today." Ford said. "And even if it was, you're several hours late." Robbie chuckled.
"Actually Mr. Pines, I came over to see if you'd seen the new Tent of Telepathy commercial." Gideon stopped and turned around.
"What?" Everyone looked at Robbie expectantly.
"Oh yeah. You gotta see this." We all made our way to the living room where Robbie turned on the local TV station. Luckily for us the commercial played almost instantly.
The camera showed Pacifica's stage, with her thick, fake, southern accent coming across the speakers.
"Have you seen anything... Strange in Gravity Rises recently? Have you seen something unexplainable that has mysteriously vanished without anyone sharing answers?" I looked at Gideon.
"That can't be good."
"Then come on down to the Tent of Telepathy..." There was a flash of purple smoke and the pageant queen herself appeared.
"...And I can peer into your mind to find the answers." The commercial continued with various pricing information and Ford turned off the tv.
"Thank you for showing me this, Robbie." Robbie nodded.
"No problem Mr. Pines."
"This is some much needed information. I'll speak to Pacifica tonight." I nodded.
"Goodbye, Gideon."

Pacifica Pleasure was not happy as she sat in her dressing room, illuminated only by the soft purple glow coming from the amulet around her neck as it reflected in the vanity mirror.
"Pacifica." It was almost two in the morning, but Pacifica was expecting the visit from her associate Gideon Northwest.
"Gideon. What took you so long?"She demanded, turning around in her seat. She didn't bother to fake the southern accent that drew in the big crowds, she knew it didn't matter with Gideon.
"I had to do some research before I came. It took longer than expected."
"No kidding." She waved her hand and a chair across the room moved beside Gideon. "Sit. We must discuss how our little experiment is going." Gideon sat down.
"Experiment?" He asked.
"Yes. Your little 'buisness' with the Pines girl. Have you found her amulet?" Gideon growled.
"Mabel doesn't have an amulet. And I want to know what the commercial was about." Pacifica laughed.
"Isn't it obvious? I'm going to read the minds of as many people as possible, and gain the knowledge of all of Gravity Rises." Gideon narrowed his eyes.
"Another ploy to gain more power? But why?"
"I already have thousands of people all across America eating out of the palm of my hand. But there's a reason I came back to Gravity Rises. It's the world's epicenter of magic. I need to tap into the field by gaining more knowledge." Gideon examined Pacifica. She had a deranged expression on her face. It was already obvious to him that her obsession with gaining power was destroying her.
"And what of Mabel? What do you want from her?"
"Oh Gideon, you haven't gotten attached now, have you?" Pacifica smirked.
"Hardly. I just don't want any harm to befall innocent people." Pacifica groaned.
"Gideon, why do you search for knowledge while I seek power? We could become Gods against mortals, join me!" Gideon calmly stood up.
"I'd prefer to keep my sanity, Pacifica. You know this." He turned around and began to leave.
"You're going to regret this, Northwest!" Pacifica shouted, pulling herself to her feet. When it didn't stop the boy from leaving, growled with frustration, causing a roundbrush to fly off of her vanity and land in a dress rack.
"There's something special about Mabel Pines, and I will find out what it is even if it kills me!"
