Chapter 7

The moon soaks through the clouds about the luminous smear as a myriad of stars, dotted the inky dark purple canopy. A low, waning crescent moon hovered tenuously in the twilight firmament, bestowing a dim light blue light upon the land. It was a warm windy night; the swaying of trees and rustling of leaves, as the encompassing darkness had blotted out all but the faintest light of the moon and stars. Briefly, a dark, wispy cloud eclipsed the moon. For a few shadowy moments, it looked like there was a halo around the cloud, a dull aura of lunar luminescence.

Among the stars, they had taken its place for the night among a thousand of other celestial constellations. It, too, succumbed to the veil of the cloud cover. Patiently, the stars waited for the cloud to pass, waited for the moment it would shine bright once more. When the cloud passed, the constellations of the stars above continued to twinkle across the sky once again.

As the stars seemed to dance across the night, a rider and her horse soured through the sky, breathing in the conferrable atmosphere. The pale gold stallion's wings buoy the wind, defying gravity, caring in the wind. The two then rested on a nearby hill, where a man stood, waiting for them.

He was dressed in a white dress shirt with sleeves fastened just above the elbows. Over is shirt, is a gold vest and black trousers to match. A crown of gold laid on his head. He greeted them with a smile and stroked the stallion's mane.

The rider returns with a smile as white as the stars. She was wearing a silver armor breastplate attached to a long flowing white skirt. Colorful jewelry hangs from her shoulders. Her thick strawberry blonde hair was pleated into a long high ponytail, which she pushed away from her shoulders and let it draped behind her back.

"So, you sure this is safe?" He asks while walking around the rider's horse, examining the steed's wings.

"Are you afraid?" She asked sarcastically, raising an eyebrow.

He laughs nervously. "N-no. It's just I never done this before and you done it countless times."

"Then you have nothing to be nervous about."

She then leaps back on her horse's back and extended her arm and he takes it in full trust. Once he was on, the equine took off into the twinkling midnight sky.

Exhilaration buzzes through every cell in his body like a volcano erupting. Many emotions spill free inside him as he tried to keep it in. His eyes, windblown in tears, as his body felt weightless and off balance. The man holds the woman's midriff close in a death grip.

Sensing his fear, the woman signal her horse and they drove downwards. They came upon a lake where the pegasus tilted to the side as the man ran his fingers through the cool waters. He laughs, enjoying himself, taking in the sweet peace.

After a brief moment, the stallion took them further into the sky, above the clouds. The man once again reached out to touch the clouds but felt nothing. Slowly, he took in the world with new eyes. A much bigger world laid before him as he never knew how large his world is and how free it looked in the moon light.

Though there was a chill, it never bothered him as he hugged the woman, embracing the freedom.

"Alright, this is pretty amazing." The man then added, blushing. "You're amazing."

She met his brown eyes. "Knew I could get you up here."

A couple minute later, they landed back onto the soft grass. Fireflies danced around them as she hops off her horse as her eyes gloss over at the man's as if she was staring at them for the first time. His thumb strays over her jawline, brushing away a few strands of her blonde hair.

With their hearts beating, she closes the gap between them. A plea of warmth blooms through both of them opening up for the first time, heating their blood and luminous throughout the land. His lips melted into hers never wanting to let go but she knew in the back of her mind that what she had had just done, would change everything. It was different from here on out, but their destinies were intertwined now as she had found her new dream. Her freedom.

When they break from the kiss, he breaths in steady warm air. "I love you, Sigga."

            "I love you too."
