Chapter 4

Dark gold eyes scanned the horizon, observing the aurora borealis in an amused smile. A lesser Wolf Rider would have turned and run knowing what this light show would bring, but not to her: the leader of the Wolf Riders. The woman knew that she was coming and even though she should be shaking in her boots, she had nothing to fear. She was the fear, she lives with wolves and prefers to be with the large canines than those magical equines who think they were better than any creature in North of North.

Even though wisp of stale wind flicks about her, it did not faze her. At the foot of her castle's window, just outside the shadow path, she compelled out to her fellow wolves, to action.  All of her wolves scattered around the castle's grounds, gathering around the shadow path, awaiting their next move.

These wolves were no ordinary wolves from Earth. These wolves of North of North were larger, almost the same size as a horse and they were just as intelligent too. Their furs were black to dark grey, never lighter than any shade. If there was one thing that wolves share was that they were all descending from one wolf, Fenrir who belonged to the leader of the Wolf Riders. His personal son, however, belonged to her daughter, to which he showed great promise in taking over his place if anything would ever happen to Fenrir.

As the luminescence fades, the leader of the Wolf Riders talks to herself outload, titling her head in thought. "So, the thousand-year-old prophesy has come to pass." She pulls back her head and cackles.

Satisfied with herself, she turns back to the castle and sits on her throne made of horse bones. Just as she sits down a muscular woman in pitch black hair and her large black wolf approached her. She stood still, standing in front of the leader of the Wolf Riders, waiting for her boss to speak and give her an order.

The golden eyed leader stared at her second in command with a twisted smile cracking along her face like a snake. Then the black-haired woman bowed along with her wolf. Good, she still knows her manners.

"Ivenna. I have summoned you from collecting the herd's pendants for a reason." The leader's voice was horsed and raspy as if she hadn't spoken in a long time. Her smile soon disappeared. "Gather the wolves." She growled. "Sigga's line has returned and I want you to snuff it out."

Ivenna throws her head up. "Sigga!?" She gasps but her leader interrupts her.

She raised her hand. "Yes, I know of the prophesy and I have been preparing for this day for a long time, so I want you to go to Earth, follow the aurora and bring the heir to me." With a nod of understanding, Ivenna prepares herself to leave but her leader added, hissing through her sharp teeth. "Alive."
