Towards the Unknown
One Year Later
A breeze kissed and ruffled Grant's hair while he stood in the middle of an open field.
"Let's get out of here." He said while glancing at the canopy full of guests underneath. Some were arguing, but most were having a pleasant time.
"Are you crazy? We still gotta have speeches and dance."
"Speech? All right," he ran off. Grabbing a champagne glass and a microphone, he returned. "Everyone, can I have your attention, please. I want to—,"
"What're you doing??" Nathalie chuckled and reached for the mic.
With a smirk, he held it above his head. The sun laughed upon her face, beaming and dancing within the rhinestones on her white dress. Brilliant stars sparkled in her eyes, just within his reach and brightly shone like never before, just for him.
His heart ached as it overfilled with love for her, causing his eyes to water. She didn't hold his heart, she was his heart and finally—his wife. It seemed impossible that she could've been more beautiful, but there she stood before him, paling everything in her wake. He lost her many times, but miraculously regained her. Cherishing each day, he grew especially impatient that day.
He had to whisk her away as soon as possible. Their parents ceased arguing when they heard his voice. Everyone stared and silently waited for him to speak.
He recounted the night he first met her and from then on ...
His eyes scanned the crowd and paused when he saw his mother. She avoided his gaze.
With a wry smile, he regained his composure. "She's brought so much love into my life. Now, don't get me wrong, sometimes she was a real stubborn pain in the butt. I had to fight hard for her. Wasn't sure if I was going to make it out in one piece, or without a concussion," he shook his head. "But I'd do it all over again. I really didn't know what love was until I met her." A tear rolled down his cheek.
It was another major turn of events for him. Ever since he met Nathalie Williams, his life was just a series of unexpected events. The life he once knew, was forever gone and he no longer had everything planned out.
He didn't have a damn clue about anything anymore ...
But he also didn't care. Only one thing was certain, and that was that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, wherever it would take them.
NORP met with NAT
and everything changed ever since.

Everything prior to her hospitalisation was quite trivial. Although, that doesn't diminish the emotional impact many of our trivialities have on us. We've all been guilty of it, at one point or another. It might genuinely be an inevitable symptom of humanity and one of the behaviours that makes us what we are? Placing interest and importance on so many trivial things, creating problems from them as we momentarily forget the things that truly matter—overall.
In that moment, we're consumed by our near-sightedness and it IS very important then. Maybe years pass us by as we indefatigably latch on to that one interest, focus, pain, statement, etc. But then, as if by some necessary misfortune, we're faced with the shattering realisation that we might lose/have lost something much more important in the process.
As Susan said 'LIVE!', but also as Grant shows: Love what you know in your heart is worth a lifetime of loving.
I hope you enjoyed the story and my first Drama-Romance. Sometimes it was very fun, other times difficult, but overall, I'm proud to have decided to take this journey and I hope you have as well. Thank you very much for reading!***
