"Hey bestie, Happy birthday" Jace spoke into the phone.

"Aww, thanks Jace, love you" Jade replied elated.

"Thank god you are in a good mood" Jace sighed in relief.

"Why wouldn't I?"

"Well, it's 5 in the morning and I know how you get mad and cranky when woken up early." Jace reminded her.

"So? It's my birthday today and don't worry buddy, Owen beat you to it."

"Dang it, I wanted to be the first one to wish you" Jace whined.

"Maybe next year buddy but remember the party starts at 6" Jade reminded him.

"Sure thing bestie, wouldn't miss it for the world. Anyways, have fun, bye"

"Thanks, Jace, bye"

Jace ended the call and took one look from his window at the Page residence for the millionth time in the past two days. "Why won't you give me a chance, Char?" Jace sighed.

Jace got dressed and went for practice. Even though it was a Sunday, Coach Barnes insisted that they need to train hard for the upcoming tournament.

In the meantime

Charlotte's phone starts to ring. She wakes up from a deep slumber and looks at her phone screen. It was Jade. Charlotte debates for a minute before receiving the call.

Phone conversation

"Hello?" Charlotte said in a sleepy voice.

"Hi Charlotte, it's Jade"

"Hi, Jade, what's up?"

"Nothing much, it's my birthday today"

"Oh, Happy birthday Jade"

"Thanks and I called you to invite to my party at 6 in the evening"

"Sure, text me the address and I will be there"

"I will and make sure you are here exactly by 6 pm" Jade insisted.

"Okay" Charlotte replied getting a little suspicious but she shrugged it off.

"Kay gotta go, bye"

Phone conversation end

After hanging up the call, Jade texted Owen, "Everything's set". 

Owen replied to her "WTF".

"What???😠😠😠" jade texted back.

"Chill bestie, it means "Well That's Fantastic"😂" 

"Ohh  👍"

Evening

Jace came back from practice at nearly 5 pm and got ready for the party. He took the gift and headed to Jade's house but not before taking another peek at Charlotte's house. He missed her so much.

Charlotte got dressed for the party and headed to Jade's house. It was 6.20 when she reached the house and saw that it was oddly very quiet for a party. She knocked on the door hoping she doesn't regret it. Jade opened the door.

"Hi Charlotte, come on in" Jade invites her in with a friendly hug.

"Uh thanks, Jade, am I by any chance early for the party?" Charlotte asked her nervously because something doesn't feel right.

"No you are right on time," Jade said and ushered her into the living room where Owen and Jace were sitting on the couch talking.

"Look who's here" Jade announced excitedly.

"Angel?" Jace stood up immediately seeing her.

Jace hasn't spoken to Charlotte since the incident on Friday. He was planning on apologizing to her on Monday because he didn't expect Jade to invite her to the party.

"I am sorry Jade, I can't do this" Charlotte turned to leave.

"No Charlotte, you are not leaving," Jade said firmly grabbing Charlotte's hand stopping her.

"It's okay Jade, she won't listen to me anyways, let her go," Jace said in a sad voice.

"No, no, no, no one is leaving and you two need to sit down," Jade said pushing Charlotte onto the couch while Owen did the same with Jace.

"Guys, I........." Jace began to speak.

"Nah uh don't talk to us. Talk to her." Owen said pointing to Charlotte.

Jace huffed and turned to face Charlotte.

"Angel, I am sorry for everything" Jace began to apologize.

"Sorry?" Charlotte scoffed looking away.

"See, I told you" Jace complained.

"Dude, just continue" Owen encouraged him.

Jace blew out again and continued, "Angel, I am sorry for everything and I know you are mad at me but I am telling the truth. That b*tch Bella did this because she is crazy. She purposefully made me look bad in front of you so that you would hate me." Jace explained to Charlotte who was still looking away.

"Charlotte, do you wanna say something to Jace?" Jade asked her.

"No Jade, I don't have anything to say to him" Charlotte replied plainly.

"Seriously Char? I just told you that all of this isn't my fault and you are still angry at me?" Jace asked with anger lacing in his voice.

"Jace" Jade said in a warning tone.

"You know what, Jace Norman, you keep saying that this is not your fault but it is." Charlotte shouted at him.

"How is Bella playing me, my fault?" Jace raised his voice.

"You don't understand Norman, I am mad at you, but not because some girl tried to make you look bad in front of me but because you decided to announce the whole school that I am your girlfriend without even talking to me about it first" Charlotte yelled at Jace, which made him realize the reason for Charlotte's anger.

"I.... I am sorry angel, I didn't mean to but........." Jace began to explain but got cut off by Charlotte.

"Just shut up okay, what you did was not a simple mistake that can be rectified with an apology. You made me look like a whore in front of the whole school jerk" Charlotte yelled at the top of her voice.

"I....I am sorry angel, I.....I wish I can take it back but I really didn't mean it that way" Jace said tearing up.

"Yes Charlotte, he didn't mean to say that, it just slipped out" Jade defended her best friend.

"You don't understand Jade, do you know the kind of looks people give me at school? They keep whispering things about me and all of that is because this jerk here decided to ruin my life" Charlotte broke down crying.

"Angel, I am sorry" Jace tried to comfort her.

"Don't touch me" Charlotte takes a step back from Jace.

"Please Char, tell me how I can correct my mistake," Jace asked her desperately.

Charlotte shook her head crying more. Jade hugs Char consoling her, "It's okay Char, I am here for you"

"Please angel" Jace begged her which only made Charlotte cry even more.

Jade took Charlotte to her room while Owen tried to console Jace.

"Hey man, don't be upset, she will come around" Owen assured him.

"No Owen, she hates me." tears roll down Jace's cheeks as he wipes them.

"Its okay Jace, there are other gi......" Owen was cut off by Jace.

"No Owen, I get her and only her" Jace said firmly.

"Jace, liste..............." Owen began but got cut off by Jace again.

"You don't understand Owen, she is my everything" Jace admitted.

"You barely know her Jace" Owen tried to reason with Jace.

"I know enough about her to realize that she is the one and I am not letting her go, no matter what" Jace replied.

Owen sighed not knowing how to convince his friend and make him see the reality that Charlotte doesn't like Jace.

Jade closed the door behind her and sat on the bed beside Charlotte who was crying uncontrollably.

"Please Char, stop crying" Jade requested her.

"I am sorry for ruining your birthday Jade" Charlotte apologized to Jade.

"No problem Char, you and Jace understanding each other is the most important thing right now"

"You don't understand Jade, I can't be with him. He has done things that I could never forgive"

"I understand that but honestly, it was Bella who played Jace and also you for that matter" Jade tried to convince Charlotte.

"Bella was probably jealous and I can understand that but what I can't digest is that jerk telling the whole school that I am his girlfriend" fresh tears fell from her eyes.

"He didn't mean to Char, he was just trying to confront Bella but she wouldn't budge. That's why Jace had to corner her and question her." Jade defended Jace.

"I don't know Jade" Charlotte replied fiddling with her fingers.

"Charlotte, please listen to me, Jace likes you so, so much and I have never seen him look at anyone the way he looks at you" Jade explained.

"He doesn't like me, Jade, I am just a trophy for him."

"No Charlotte, that's not true" Jade defended Jace again.

"You don't know that Jade" Charlotte argued.

"Why don't we ask him?" Jade pulled Charlotte and took her to where Jace and Owen were.

"Jade, no" Charlotte protested.

When Jade and Charlotte came in, Jace walked over to Charlotte and took her hands in his.

"I am so sorry angel, I didn't mean to do that and I take full responsibility for my actions but please forgive me" Jace pleaded her.

"I don't know Jace, how can I believe you?"

"We will vouch for him Charlotte." Owen stood up for Jace.

"Yes, we will" Jade chimed in.

"Thanks, guys but if my angel feels that she is better off without me then I am okay with it" Jace's eyes welled up.

Charlotte saw this and it melted her heart.

"Okay," Charlotte mumbled.

"What?" Jade, Owen, and Jace asked at the same time.

"I said okay, I will forgive you," Charlotte said just louder than a whisper.

"Really?" Jace was over the moon happy.

"Yes, but on one condition," Charlotte said not making eye contact.

"Anything angel, as long as you are with me" Jace agreed readily.

"I don't want to be your girlfriend," Charlotte said looking into Jace's eyes.

"What?" Jace was confused.

"I forgive you but I don't want to be your girlfriend" Charlotte repeated her statement.

"Why?" Jace's voice cracked tears rolling down from his eyes.

"cuz I don't know anything about you and I can't be with someone I barely know"

"I can tell you everything about me angel," Jace said desperately.

"Jace, let her speak" jade interjected.

"I am sorry Jace but I can't right now" Charlotte replied looking down.

Jace understood that he shouldn't push it right now but just be happy with the fact that she at least doesn't hate him anymore.

Jace closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He opened his eyes and blew out, "Okay angel, I understand but will you at least be my friend?" Jace asked her hoping she will agree.

Charlotte nodded and Jace immediately hugged her so tightly that Charlotte couldn't breathe.

"Ja....ce" Charlotte managed to speak.

Jace pulled away and apologized, "oh uh sorry angel, I was just really excited," he said laughing nervously while Jade and Owen high fived each other for their successful intervention.

After that, they all enjoyed Jade' s birthday party until late at night.

A/N: Sorry guys, this chapter is longer than the others but I wanted Jace and Charlotte to resolve their issues. We now know the reason why Charlotte was mad at Jace even after Bella told her the truth. How do you feel about Charlotte forgiving Jace?
