Truth. part 2.

~(y/n)'s pov~

I saw Norman fall back into the hall of records from the roof. I climbed down the ladder and went over to the hatch. I knew the zombies were there but I have to see if Norman was okay.

I unlocked the lock, opened the hatch and saw the zombies there.

"Out of my way!!!" I shouted. They seemed scared and let me through.

I ran down the stairs, opened the door and saw Norman laying there on the ground.

"Norman!" I shouted and ran over to him, running past the burnt book. He was out cold.

"Come on, Norman! Wake up! Please! I need you!" I said, shaking him to try and wake him up, with tears in my eyes.

"Ugh...." I heard Norman say.

"Norman?" I asked.

"(Y/n)?" he said, getting up.

"Norman!!!" I hugged him tight. "Don't ever scare me like that again."

He hugged back but then he gasped.

I looked up to see the zombies standing there.

Norman pulled me back and put his arm in front of me as our backs were to the old records.

We stayed like this for a bit as the head zombie put his head down.

"How could you? She was just a little kid. She was no different than us." Norman said.

The head zombie tired coming towards us.

"Keep away from us!!" Norman shouted and the head zombie stopped.

"Y-You must stop the curse." the head zombie said. He spoke.

"What? You don't want to kill us?" I asked.

"You two can speak to the dead. To us. To her. We need you to read from the book to send us all back to the grave." he said.

Norman picked up the ruined book. "But it didn't work! It's a fairy tale!"

"It's just a bedtime story." I said.

I saw the wheels in Norman's head start turning and then he got up.

"That's it, isn't it?!" the zombies moved away from him. "A bedtime story, to keep a little girl asleep for another year."

I got up next to Norman. "And now you need our help because we're the only ones who can read it to her?" I asked.

"Here's your book!" Norman said, throwing it at the head zombie which hit him and fell, causing it to break off it's spine and papers fell everywhere. "Try reading it yourself."

The head zombie just looked down.

"Why did you do it?" Norman asked.

"We were scared." he said.

"Of what?" I asked.

"Of her." He said and walked over to the other zombies. "I believed we were doing what was right. I was wrong. Now, this is our punishment. We thought we knew our way in life, but in death, we are lost. Please, help us."

I walked over to the ruined book.

"Every year, someone reads this story at her grave. Before us, it was Mr. Prendergast, and before him, there were others," I turn to the zombies and Norman. "But the curse doesn't ever go away. Nothing gets better. It's not enough."

"What will you two do?" the head zombie asked.

"Something nobody ever did before." I said and looked at Norman.

We looked up at the broken roof.

"We've got to go talk to her." Me and Norman said.
