12.Have no fear.
"Running from the shadow, lost in the night. Gotta be brave and have no fear."
I felt the ice like glass shatter against me as I broke though it.
Nat had used all his strength, but I was slowing down rapidly in the black water.
If this kept up, i'd be stationary before I could even get halfway to Jake.
'I... I have to...'
I had no choice.
Just before I stopped, I transformed back into myself, and swam.
I could feel the water burning my flesh, but I didn't have the time to care. I had to reach Jake.
Nat's ring necklace had began to choke me as it went with the direction of the resisting water.
That would soon be burnt of too right?
'Lex. What the fuck are you doing?!' Nat yelled.
'Mind your language' I replied, as I forced my arms to move through the excruciating pain.
He continued to yell at me, which really was not helping my splitting migraine, but I powered forwards.
'Jake!' I called out to him.
No response.
My eyes felt like they would burn out of their sockets, But I had to reach him.
As I got closer I could see that he was tied up against a beam.
I circled the beam and found that he was tied with a bow at the back, as if the rope was a shoelace.
I undid the rope and called out to Nat to tell Kenz to use her portal as I made my way back up with Jake.
I saw the portal begin to form beside me, But that was all I saw before I lost consciousness.
.
.
.
Blue.
Such a piercing blue.
Hurt, Betrayal and anger made the colour so much more intense.
The eyes backed away from me, the black haired teen dissipated into the fog that surrounded us.
It was so thick that all I could see was myself and the green grass up to seventy cementers away.
I tried to run, but I was nailed to the ground in a kneeling position, I tried to scream, but no sound would come out.
All I could do, was feel cold.
My eyes closed as my burning tears fell, acting as my only source of heat.
"Child. look at me." A regal voice spoke up.
I knew this voice. It was familiar, but it had been so long since i'd last herd it that I couldn't remember who it belonged to.
I lifted my head, my brown eyes meeting with emerald green ones.
It was an old and wrinkled woman. Her black hair done up into a neat bun. Dressed in a pink pearl coloured dress that stopped just above her ankles. The woman that had died years ago, was stood before me.
'Granny Russel?' I thought.
My thought was the loudest thing here. I tried to speak with no voice, yet my thoughts were louder than screams.
"Yes Alexia, I don't have much time here to tell you this, so listen carefully." She began.
I nodded in silence awaiting her words. I had many questions, but I had to be patient.
"You are treading on thin ice Alexia. To want and to need are two completely different things. To give a child vegetables will have a better long lasting effect than to give one candy. Too much candy can lead to death. You must remember that and one more thing.
To loose a mate is the most devastating thing you can do. Alexia, Wolves mate for life. When their mate dies, so does their soul."
'But what does that second part mean?' I asked her.
"You must be careful of how you use your life. Many may be reborn, however those chosen are not set in stone." With her final words, She'd dissipated. Just like Nat had done before her.
.
.
.
My eyes shot open, and all I could see was white.
I turned my head to the left to see an average hospital monitor and window with white curtains pulled back to either side of its frame.
'I'm in a hospital.' I deadpanned.
Why was I so warm?
Where was Jake and Kenz?
I began to scan the room.
Where is...
Nat.
I'd turned to my right to see Nat. Arm, once again draped over my waist.
I'd push him away, tell him that he was being annoying, but I didn't want to today.
I'd put him in danger. I'd gone against his wishes and almost killed myself. I betrayed his trust and used mind control on him. I'd burnt his grandma's ring in the process...
Yet here he was, comforting me.
"Wolf's mate for life... Well, now I know that you have to eat less sweets." Nat spoke softly, opening his blue eyes after he finished.
"You can even listen into my dreams now?" I croaked.
My throat felt like it was burning.
"I've always been able to. That's how I knew that you had a bad dream when we were younger."
Migraine.
I woke up in a cold sweat. Nat hugging me closely on his bed. His brownish black eyes filled with worry as he told me everything would be fine.
"Come on. I'll make some hot chocolate." He dragged me down the stairs, not letting go of my hand until he reached the kitchen.
I climbed up onto the stool by the counter, that was just a little bit shorter than me, and sat down as I watched Nat climb up onto his green stool in the kitchen and make hot chocolate.
When he finished we went back up to his room and sat on the floor at the foot of his bed drinking hot chocolate as I told him all about my dream.
"So do you know what Granny Russel was talking about?" I asked.
Her cryptic words still confused me
"Yeah. I got it all perfectly clearly. Its like she went into your mind because she didn't want to send a message twice. She knew i'd be there." He scoffed. "I cant believe I didn't understand that till now."
I cleared my throat.
"What? What did she mean?" I questioned, turning to face him fully.
"I'll explain them at different times. For now, Just stay here and be mine for a few more minutes. Okay?"
He pulled me closer with such a force that I couldn't have pulled away even if I wanted to.
Not that I wanted to... But i'd never tell him that.
'Too late' He chuckled.
