It had been about a week since Brooke had found Rich, and they had started being extremely clingy to each other ever since.
Of course, this involves suspicion from Chloe and Jake, and well, everyone. Brooke would jump up whenever Rich even showed the slightest sign of hanahaki and run off with him to the bathroom, which led to many assumptions from their friends.
Brooke tended to snap at Jake a lot- mostly out of anger. She couldn't exactly be mad at Jake, as it wasn't his fault, but she was anyway. She would also get mad at Chloe for valid reasons, like flirting with Jake and such. She would never tell either of them about it, though, as she would never want to betray Rich's trust.
At the moment they were at one of the many teen dance clubs (they exist, bitches.) that lingered around the kingdom. Rich loved to dance, and his sickness would never stop him from that. It was only a love disease, so no matter how much Brooke insisted, he went anyway. He'd stay near the bathrooms at all times, ignoring Jake and Chloe's questions.
They were currently eating, as none of them had had a bite since lunch. Hamburgers were a favorite among them except for Chloe, who just had a salad.
"And then I told Karen that she was such a slut. I mean, not as much as Regina by far, but still!" Chloe waved her hand around as she spoke, drinking her coke.
"Karen isn't that bad!" Brooke shrugged. "She's pretty nice to me."
"Like I said, she's just a dumb slut with nice hair." Chloe rolled her eyes.
"That was pretty gay." Rich took a bite of his burger, talking with his mouth full.
"Shut up, Rich." Chloe sneered, crossing her arms. Brooke frowned.
"Don't be mean. It's not an insult." Brooke furrowed her eyebrows.
"Yeah, it wasn't an insult." Rich chuckled.
"Oh, what, is Rich gay now?" Jake finally spoke up, drinking his lemonade.
Rich coughed in response. "Be quiet, Jake." Brooke stuck her tongue out, making Jake cock his head slightly.
"Rude.." Jake sighed, eating some fries.
"Whatever. Anyway, so I found out Jenna was trying to copy the Heathers!" Chloe said, acting as if it was the worst thing ever.
"What? Nobody can copy them!" Brooke's jaw dropped.
"I probably could." Rich piped in, smirking.
Chloe nodded, looking like she agreed completely. "That's true. What color would you be, though? Purple? Pink? Or are they too close to the colors they have now?"
Rich scratched his head. "Dunno. I kinda just wanna wear a short skirt."
Jake looked away, Brooke giggling. "You could pull it off, though! You'd be great at their signature dance." Brooke fanned her face slightly.
"She's not wrong." Chloe examined her nails.
"Can we talk about something else?" Jake said, earning weird looks from everyone. "Sorry, I just don't know who you guys are talking about."
Chloe smiled, opening her phone and pulling up a picture. "These are the plastics, and here are the Heathers."
Jake scratched his chin, thinking. "The one in red is pretty hot."
Rich started coughing, Brooke dropping her burger and grabbing his hand, squeezing it. Rich waved her off, starting to cough softer until he was done. He grabbed a napkin and spit something into it, getting up and throwing it away.
"Is he okay? Should he see a doctor?" Chloe adjusted her jacket.
"He's fine!" Brooke smiled widely, clenching her fists. "Fine."
"Bro, chill." Jake laughed, running a hand through his hair. "Whatever, I'm done." He pushed his plate away, standing up. Chloe nodded, doing the same.
"Me too, I guess." Brooke stood up just as Rich walked over.
"Are we leaving?" Rich said, looking around.
"Nah, just going to the dance floor." Jake tilted his head towards the flashing side of the building.
"Ooh! Yay!" Brooke clapped her hands excitedly.
"Let's go then." Chloe said, walking over. Jake followed, along with Brooke and Rich. They walked over, Rich excitedly seeing the karaoke on stage and running over. Brooke smiled, standing as close to the stage as she could. The instructor talked to Rich for a second before showing Rich how to pick a song. Jake was swaying along to the current music, watching Rich intently. Chloe was talking to some other girl that looked just as slutty as she did.
Chloe was wearing a new dress she bought- it was purple and short and covered in sequins. Brooke was wearing a blue crop top and pencil skirt with her sweater on top, but slutty wasn't a word you could use to describe her. Jake on the other hand was wearing black skinny jeans and a checkered white tee, while Rich was wearing his casual clothes. He didn't care enough to pick out something else.
Rich's song soon started, Brooke face palming when she heard it. (Okay I'm sorry but I couldn't remember the beginning to any song but this one at the moment so I just- yeah I'm sorry) It was one of Rich's favorite songs, and obviously he would've chosen it.
"Our love story could be kinda gory, far from boring-" Rich started, and Jake immediately got goosebumps. Rich had sang before, but in a joking way. Not that he actually heard him, he was good. Rich was dancing in that weird way he always was, but no one was actually paying attention, as they were all dancing among themselves. "-never eat your brain. I'd just want your heart, yeah I'd want your heart-"
Among the middle of the song, Chloe had come over to Jake. "Dance with me?" She said softly, fluttering her eyelashes.
"Sure." Jake said simply, letting Chloe grab his hand and drag him to the middle. They weren't waltzing or anything, but it was pretty obvious they were dancing together.
And suddenly, the song was interrupted with coughing. Rich clutched his stomach with one hand, the other over his mouth. Brooke rushed onto the stage, grabbing the microphone.
"Uh, hi, uh. Gotta go." She smiled before putting the mic down and rushing Rich to the bathroom, leaving everyone bewildered.
"Well," Chloe looked at Jake slyly. "Wanna do a song with me?"
Jake grinned obliviously. "Yeah! Let's do it!" Chloe happily grabbed his hand and dragged him on stage.
Jake tapped his foot as he waited for Chloe to pick a song. She leaned over and whispered in his ear. "The words are on that tv over there." She pointed across to a tv that nobody seemed to notice. Jake nodded, grabbing a separate microphone.
The words were color coded- Jake assumed he was blue and Chloe was pink. The music played and Jake started, realizing what song it was immediatly.
"It's hard to believe that I couldn't see," Jake sang, Chloe joining in on the next line. "That you were always right beside me."
"Thought I was alone with no one to hold," Chloe turned to Jake and smiled, grabbing his hand softly.
"But you were always right besides me." They sang together, Jake squeezing her hand.
"This feelings like no other, I want you to know-" Jake sang, twirling Chloe around.
"I've never had someone that knows me like you do, the way you do!" They sang together, dancing around on the stage together. They happily sang the song, dancing and twirling playfully around the stage.
Now, see, Rich had finally stopped coughing and was coming out of the bathroom. It wasn't too bad of a cough. They were ready to keep dancing, and if they were able to, get Rich to finish his song.
They were giggling and chatting together when they spotted Jake and Chloe on stage. Rich's eyes widened in fear, knowing what was coming. He turned to Brooke and coughed into her sweater, leaving a heap of blood and petals on top. But he didn't stop there- he kept coughing and coughing. You wouldn't say this was able to kill him, but let's just say it was pretty bad.
"O-oh shit." Brooke pulled out he phone and dialed 911, dragging Rich outside.
It took a while for Jake and Chloe to notice they were gone.
