=~•The Last Day of School•~=

Colby's foot tapped anxiously against the tile floor in his English class. He kept stealing glances at 2 things. 1)The clock that counted down the minutes until summer vacation, and 2) Samuel John Goldbach, his beautiful boyfriend. The blonde sat in the seat behind Colby in class, which was perfect cause the merman would lean back in his seat and the human would lean forward, and the two would hold hands under their desks. It made their class a little bit more bearable.   

"2 more minutes" Sam whispered. 

Colby slightly tilted his head back when he said, "Shhh... I don't wanna get detention on the last day of school". 

Sam let out a small and quiet giggle that was only audible to Colby, "They don't give out detention on the last day of school". 

"Fine... Whatever" Colby playfully rolled his eyes even though Sam couldn't see it. 

Before they knew it, the bell chimed above their heads and the two gays were out the door. They strolled hand in hand down the long hallways until they reached the fork in the hallway where they'd have to split off to go to their own respective lockers. 

"See you in 10" Sam gave Colby a quick kiss on the lips which caused both of their cheeks to turn a light shade of pink. 

"Bye Sammy" He gave Sam's hand one last squeeze before they both turned and went different ways.

Sam was about 10 steps away from Colby when he felt a hand on his shoulder. The blonde's head turned to see that Brad stood behind him. Immediately his fight or flight responses kicked in. He was ready to kick this guy's ass or run like the wind at a moment's notice. 

Brad picked up on this right away, "Woah there, tiger. Calm your horses I just came to talk". He carefully pulled Sam out of the mainstream of teens that rushed through the halls.

"Seriously?" Sam's eyebrows stitched together in confusion on his forehead. 

"Yeah... Yeah, why is everyone so surprised when I tell them I just wanna talk" He lets out a small huff through his nose before he continued, "I-uh" He stuttered before he moved his hand to anxiously rub the back of his neck. "I-I'm sorry. Sam, I'm sorry", it almost sounded painful for the boy to admit. 

"Come again?" Sam asked as he wanted to make sure he wasn't hearing things.

"Sam... I'm sorry, about the whole throwing you into the water thing, back at the beginning of the year" At that moment Sam noticed the sincerity that laced Brad's voice. "Come on dude I'm trying to turn over a new leaf here" he pleaded. 

"Oh, hey man no worries. Water under the bridge... That day actually kinda changed my life, for the better" Sam told Brad, "Thank you, for apologizing". 

They exchanged a couple more words before they dapped each other, "Have a good summer" Brad gave Sam a slight wave, which the blonde returned before he continued on his way to his locker, now a little bit happier than before.

Colby walked to his locker in a comfortable silence as he listened to his fellow student's pass by him. Conversations about final exams at summer plans filled the air. When he finally got to his locker and emptied everything out into his backpack. He did one final scan of his locker and noticed he still had his little mirror taped up the to locker's back wall. Colby glanced at his reflection and smirked. His hair was now brown with blue tips. Yes, it had fully turned blue when he took full control of the moon pool, it had looked cool. But he knew that it'd be a challenge to explain to his parents. So with full control of the moon pool, he was able to make it only half blue. But of course, when he shifted into his merman for, his hair was completely blue, which he didn't mind. 

Colby snapped back into reality. With that, he did a quick hair check before taking his mirror and shoving it in his bag with the rest of his school stuff. He looked at his locker and only then did he finally take a moment to let everything sink in. 

It's finally summer...

He began to recall everything this locker and him had been through. The amounts of times he was almost late to class because of his stubborn lock, or the times he had with his friends, with Sam... With Jessie. 

The now human still attended school like any other teen, but she made no effort to acknowledge Colby or his group by any means, which they were all fine with. Sometimes he'd think of all the times they had together, and how he really did like her. Of course, they had some good times, but he knew, in the end, she did it all just to get to him and what he had. He knew he had cared for her at some point, then his mind would think about how he loves Sam now. 

For the final time, Colby closed his locker. One last memory flashed through his mind.

"So long and goodnight..." He said to his locker as he let his fingertips linger on its metal surface for a beat until he gave the locker a small nod and continued on his way to the main exit. On his way to start a new chapter.

Corey and Elton waited for their friends at the front of the school in Elton's car. Sam and Colby emerged from the crowd together. They scanned the crowd for their friends. Corey stuck his head out the window and hollered "ANDALE LET'S GO!". Once they were all in the car, they were off. Four dudes, 3 humans and one merman, off to the beach. 

Of course, the beach was packed, it was the end of the school year and it was filled with kids and parents. But they didn't worry too much about that. The four boys gathered up all their stuff and made their way towards the far end of the beach, from there they climbed over a hill of rocks. On the other side was almost a mini private beach, their Oasis.

"I can't believe how much one day can change your life" Colby lightly smiles as he examines the area where they first found out Colby's secret.

"No kidding... This is where it all began" Sam laced his fingers together with Colby's, it put a smile on both of their faces. 

"oh god, get a room. We came to swim not to suck face" Elton moaned, half-jokingly. 

Sam tilted his head up and kissed Colby, he let it linger for a moment before they leaned away from each other and began to help their friends set up their stuff. The boys had brought towels, umbrellas, food and music. 

It was the first time they've all had time to hang out in a long while. After everything that happened with Jessie, Colby realized how badly he was doing in math and Sam was determined to tutor him. A lot of their free time was spent studying, amongst other things (; During that time, Corey actually broke up with Devyn, it was rough, but he had his friends to comfort him. There were also the full moons, which were always a pain. Well, not as much of a pain since the past couple of full moons it's just been Colby with Sam cuddled together under his duvet on his bed.

"You know... I love y'all" Corey announced as he cracked open a cold one(IDK what drink it is, so let your imagination run free). 

"I'll drink to that" Elton chimed in as he raised his drink. 

"I love you guys too" Sam smiles as he raises his drink. For a moment, the blonde allows himself to imagine what it would've been like if he hadn't been pushed in the water that day at the beach. If he had opted to stay home instead. Things would be so different. But he quickly shook it off, he was here with his best friends and his amazing boyfriend. What else could a guy ask for?

"Here's to us!" Colby exclaimed as they all raised their drinks and they did a cheers, clinking their cans together. 

Once all the food was eaten and the four boys were on the verge of overheating, they made their way over to the ocean that awaited them. They all stood at the water's edge and watched the waves crash against the sand. Sam glanced over at the others and for once, with being this close to the water, he felt safe. He knew they wouldn't let anything happen to him. With that, he was the first one to dive in. 

Colby followed suit. He dived in once the water reached his waist and immediately felt his legs shift. With his new fishtail and fully blue head of hair, he felt a weight being lifted off his shoulders. Sam, Corey, Elton and Colby swam freely in the ocean. They'd go and splash each other or try to see who could hold their breaths the longest. Other times, they just float and enjoy being at peace with the ocean.

At that moment Colby looked around and saw his friends. Elton, Corey, and Sam. His heart still skipped a beat whenever their eyes met. He was beyond thankful that he had such great people in his life. Then he glanced down at his sparkling blue fishtail, and he couldn't help but smile.

In stories like mine, the protagonist always wants nothing more than to have a normal life. And well... My life is as far away from normal as it gets, and I wouldn't want it any other way.

And there it is, the final chapter of Normal.
I cannot explain how much this story means to me. This is for sure one of the first stories that I actually had a plot for when I first started writing it. When I first dove into this book I always had the main plot planned out, especially Jessie and her storyline. So when everyone was in the comments like "OMG I hope Colby doesn't end up with Jessie" I was always like, "ahaha just wait and see (;" 

I know I always say this but I really hope you guys enjoyed this book, this journey that we've been through together. Let me know in the comments if you've been here from the beginning! Tell me what your favourite part/scene in this book was! I'll try to respond to everyone int he comments.

In all honesty, I probably wouldn't have finished this book if it weren't for you guys! Always on my back, telling me to update LOL. Thank you for that, I'm glad I finally finished the book.
