=•Colby's POV•=

I check outside, no moon. it was 4;30 in the afternoon. The moon is estimated to rise more around 6 (That's probably the wrong idc)

But I kept cheeking, even tho if I did see the moon I'd be screwed.

I turned on my heels, past my mirror and out of my room.

Wait what the?

I walked backwards, back to where I was standing in front of my mirror. I took another step, closer to the mirror and examined my reflection.

What was going on with my hair?!

It wasn't a bad hair day, but something didn't look right. The tips of my bangs fringe thingy were pale, almost blue.

That's... weird.

Why is my hair turning blue?

I started to panic but I left my room and turned into my washroom.
When I saw my reflection it kinda scared me...

It's still there!

I turned the water on and wet my hand then ran it through the pale blue hair.
It wouldn't come out, it just got darker...

Then it hit me...
Literally, the floor hit me as I fell.

My phone buzzed, which broke me out of the phase I was in.

"COLBY!" The voice boomed through my phone as I moved it farther away from my ear to prevent depth.

"WHAT?" I asked in a voice just as loud.

"I'm in your driveway get your ass out here" Elton said from, my driveway I guess?

"I-I can't. I messed up dude. I need a towel" I said, sounding like a sad puppy.
"I'll be there in 5" Those were the last words Elton said before he hung up.

=•Later•=

"So wait... Why does Colby have a bag on his head?" Corey asks as they get settled in Sam's room. "Ah, long story short. Is the window closed?" Colby asks, remembering how Sam told him he had one large window in his bigger than average room. "Yes it's all clear" Sam replied as Colby tore the bag off his head.

"He was so close to moonrise, Colby you've gotta be more careful. Cause what would we have done if we had to move you in your... other forum, all the way to sam's house?" Elton asks as he trun to face me.

"It was accidental! I was freaking out after... "Colby was cut off before he could finish his sentence. "After what?" Corey tilts his head in confusion. "After this" Colby sighs as he removes his snap back which he was keeping his fringe locked up under. He removes his snapback and run his hand through his blue tipped fringe.

"Woah dude you dyed your hair!" Corey says happily.
"No, No I didn't. It just turned blue on it's own" I try to convince them. "I don't think hair usually does that" Sam says as he takes a step closer to me and moves his hand up and touches the blue part of my hair, then continues and gives it a tug. "Ah, damn dude" I huff as I swat his hand away and step back.
"Yep, it's real" A small smile appears on his face.

"What if we dye it?"Corey suggests as I notice how quiet Elton has been during this conversation.
"Wait no you need water for it" Sam says as he and Corey start their own little conversation about it.
"Elton? All good dude?" I ask as his gaze focuses on me and he comes out of the phaze he was in.

"Yeah... All's good. I remember seeing something that involved hair in one of those books, back at the library" Elton strokes his beard while he thinks. "Do you remember what it said?" I ask him as he looks towards me. "I don't remember the specifics, just the fact that it happens to stronger mers, some with great potential... Something like that" Eltom shakes his head. "Interesting" I give the idea some thought.

Maybe that's why?
Could I be that powerful.
The mythology books said it was rare to be a truly powerful mer, even since it's my first full moon. It varies for when mers develop powers, some after a feu months, for some it takes years...

A knock on Sam's closed door sushes whatever we were saying.
EVeryone is staring down the door when Sam's older sister lsowly opens the doors.

I let my body relax as she opens the door all the way. "Heyyy... Sorry to inturept, a friend of mine is going to be spending the night so if you see a girl don't worry it's just my friend. Also don't answer the door if it rings" SHe informs us. "Don't worry... We won't" Sam says as she leaves the room.

it was about 8 oclock now and I was starting to crave water.... just to drink. yeah....

We had laid out all of our blankets and pillows on the floor infront of the TV and were all chilling. We were all leaning back againts the back of Sam's bed as Elton pulled out a DVD from his overnight bag.

"Okay, what should we watch first. IT, Jigsaw, The sinning..." Elton was cut off when Corey said "Wait why are all of these Horror movies?".

Elton shrugs before answering. "Oh come on Corey, we're men! WHat are we gonna do, watch reality shows and paint our nails?" (Sorry that was super stereotypical but it just kinda fit the situation, I don't mean to offend anyone)

Corey rolled his eyes. "Fine... I say we watch IT" He suggests as we all node. "I'm down" Sam approves. "Okay, I'll put it in" Elton smirks as he turns towards the TV.

"wait... before the movie starts I'm gonna go get some water" Just as I stood up Sam jumped in front of me, blocking my path. "Nopity Nope.Biz.UK we don't need you looking at the moon or splashing yourself... Stay here. I'll get some" He tells me As he slowly walks backwards towards his door then slips out, closeing it behind him.

"Should I wait for Sam?" Elton asks as he holds the remot out to the TV. "Yes we're gonna wait for Sam" Corey gives him a 'no duh' look before turning back to me.

"HEy Colby, Do you feel any different? With the moon and all?" He asks me as I take a seat beside him. "Not really actually, i just have this feeling in my gut. I don't know what it is, but it's there" I tell him as the feeling gets a little bit stronger.

And Sam enteres the room. "Guys, we have a problem" He says as he leans up against the closed door, water bottle in hand and a worried look on his face.

"WHy? What happened?" I stand up once again. "Jessie is here"...

"WHat?!" I exclaim a little bit too loud. I clap my hands over my mouth. "She's the friend my sister was talking about. Apparently, my sister was assigned to give her her tour around the school and that stuff" Sam explains as he takes a step away from the door.

Elton comes to stand beside me and Corey stands up from where he was sitting.
"it's Jessie, so how does that affect us?" Corey asks curiously. "Because Colby has a crush" Elton says in a baby tone. "No I do not" I snap at him.

"Oh so what! Can we please just watch this freaking movie. Heh, never thought I'd say that about a horror movie" Corey says as we all take our original seats against the bed. I pull one of the many blankets up ver my legs as Sam gets comfy beside me. "Colby this is yours" Sam says as he hands me a water bottle about halfway filled with water.

From what I'm seeing it won't leak on me or anything.

As Elton presses play I take a sip of the cool water. Then I move it away from my mouth and begin to unscrew the lid. As it becomes loser I tip the bottle forward and watch the water fall forwards.

SLAP

The bottle goes flying out of my hand, hits the nearest wall and hits the floor with a big.

SMASH

"Colby what the hell!" Sam exclaims. "Dude, did you get wet?" Correy worries as I shake my head. "W-What happened?" I ask worriedly. "You tried to spill water on yourself" Elton explains. I looked down at my dry hands. But a loud knock at the door made all of us turn just in time to see Sam's sister Alex and Jessie burst into the room.

"What the hell was that?" Alex asks as she takes a step into the room and begins to scan the room until her eyes land on the bottle and the water that splashed all around it.

"SAM! What happened!?" Alex asks with a pissed off tone as she walks into the room and bends down to pick up the water bottle. "Look at this mess" She sighs as she stands up and shows us the dripping wet bottle, some droplets fall onto the blanket covering my legs, I quickly throw the blanket off of me.
Alex gives me a weird look before she begins to walk out of the room and says. "You boys better clean that up". Once she left, I looked over to the door and saw Jessie. "Hey Colby didn't think I'd see you here" She smiles. "Yeah, I didn't know you were friends with Alex" I say as I look behind her shoulder and into the room across the hall, straight into its open window. Where the full moon was hanging.

Everything went in slow motion... And all I could see was the moon, how full it was, all the power radiating off its white surface.

a hand comes into my vision, "Colby! Earth to Colby" Sam snaps his finger in my face.

=•Third Person•=

Colby doesn't respond, he just leans back against the bed. Jessie stands in the doorway for a minute longer "I guess I'll see you later?" She asks all Colby does is moved his hand in a shooing motion before she leaves the door frame.

Colby then stands up and sits back down beside the water, he lays down on the ground and leans his head down on the floor right beside the water. "I love the look of water" He says as he reaches out to touch it.

Elton who was standing beside the et grabbed his hand before it was too late. "Dude are you okay?" He asks me as he looks down at the water. "Sam go get some paper towels we need to clean this up" Elton camly demands. Sam nods, but before he leaves the room Colby blurts "And grab something for me to eat... A cheese sandwich on rye, with sardines... NO! Just sardines" His emotion changes and it looks like his picturing something delicious.s
"Sardines?" Corey gives him a questioning look as Sam leaves the room.

Elton releases Colby's wrist and he flops onto the pile of blankets with free-spirited motions and a weird smile. "Elton... You know that beard makes you look like an old man" He notices as he rolls onto his stomach.
"Well, that was mean..." Corey says as Elton thinks for a moment. "This must be the full moon, crap when did you look at it!"

"The moon! You mean the moon cave? Oh, I bet it'd look great at night. We should go check it out" Colby says wistfully as he stands up and takes a couple steps forward.

Elton and Corey jump into action just in time as Sam come into the room and closes the door behind him. "C-Colby? You okay?" He asks worriedly. "Yes! Sardines" Colby grins as he rips the little can from Sam's hand then floats back to the pile of blankets, flops back down and rips the lid off the can.

"It's the full moon" Elton confirms as Sam's eyes go wide. "How do we fix it? Him". Elton shakes his head. "They weren't clear on the specifics, just that they shouldn't look at it and do not touch water once the moon is full" Elton reminds them.

The 3 friends stare in awe as Colby swallows the sardines. "This... is weird" Corey confirms as Sam looks at his watch. "And it's barley 10pm" he shrugs.

"I need to go to the bathroom..." Colby says as he examines his toes, moving all of them at once. "Um.... OKay, close your eyes tho" Sam advises as he stands up and stops colby before he leaves the room. "Don't worry, the moon ain't got nothing on me!" HE smiles happily as Sam guides him towards the bathroom. "We look so weird... You know that? with these long legs" He says as Sam opens the door and Colby smirks before closignt the door behind him and locking it.

After a couple of minutes Sam knocked on the door. "everything okay in there?" He asks Colby but is left in silence until the guys exit Sam's room. "What's up?" Corey asks as they stand beside Colby. "He locked the door" Sam says as he tries the doorknob.

"I got this guys..." Corey says as he pulls a hairpin from his pocket. "WHy?" Elton asks him as Corey shrugs. "Devyn left it at my house" He responds as he sticks it into the keyhole and moves it around until there's a click. and the door opens.

The guys hurry inside just to see Colby tale and all laying on the floor with a puddle surrounding him. "What happened!" Elton asks as they all neal down beside him. "Water is the best! I had to do it, or else I was gonna die" He says in a none serious voice.

"W-What do we do?" Sam asks as he runs his hands through his hair "We can try to dry him off" Corey said as he reached for a towel that was hanging on a rack near the door. "Good idea, the last thing we need is the girls finding you like this" Elton mumbles. "Girls? I love girls, I love mermaids! Especially, Jessie, she'd be an amazing mermaid" Colby dreams as Elton starts up the blow dryer.

"Why isn't this working?" Elton sighs as he turns the blow dryer off. "He's dry but he hasn't turned back yet" Corey rubs his hand on Colby's tail. "What if we lock him in here? He won't do any harm. We can go grab some stuff and see what'll work" Sam says as they nod. "I'll grab my phone, try to see how to change him back" Elton stands up. "I'll go grab some pizza pockets cause this is gonna be a long night" Corey stands up and Sam stands up too. "I'm coming with you cause I don't want you burning down my house" Sam's voice trails off as it's cut off but the door closing and locking behind them.

Colby lays dry on the ground for a moment before an idea springs into his mind and he sits up.

Elton ended up going downstairs to the kitchen to see how Sam and Corey's pizza pocket mission was going. But as he walks past the living room he notices Alex and Jessie are gone. "Where did the girls go?" He asks as he walks into the kitchen. "They're up in my sister's room, watching a movie or something" Sam shrugs.

Up in Alex's room, her and Jessie were all ready to watch the new episode of Riverdale, with popcorn and everything. But before Alex gets the chance to press play.
"Mind if I go to the bathroom?" Jessie asks as Alex gives her a stern look. "No, you may not go urinate" Alex jokes. "You know where it is" she gestures to the closed door which can be seen across the hall from Alex's room.

Jessie walks out of Alex's  room, somewhat hoping that with an the minute she'd be in the hallway would be enough time for her to bump into Colby. But God knows what him and those guys are up to in Sam's room.
Jessie thinks to herself as she opens the bathroom door and walks inside.
But what Jessie is created with makes her gasp and step back against the closed door. 

He turns to face her with a smirk.
"Hey Jessie" Colby says as he folders his arms over the edge of the bubble filled bathtub.
"What's up?" He asks as if it was just another one of their meet ups to Study.

"Um... I can leave, I didn't mean to barge in" She stammers as Colby rolls his eyes. "No, no. It's fine. I was hoping I'd see you" He says as he sits back up.
"W-What are you doing in there?" Jessie takes a step towards the tub.
"I couldn't hold it back anymore, the water is just too powerful" Colby says as he raises on of his hands and lets the water drip off his finger tips.
"Yeah I know how you feel" Her voice trails off as she takes another step forward, and another, and another.
Then kneels down beside the tub.
"You... Really do like water, especially tonight?" Jessie asks him as she gets closer.
"Well of course, with the moon and all that just makes it even better!" Colby gestures to the full moon outside the bathroom window.

I almost forgot about that.

"You should come join me, the water is... Just right" Colby's lips are so close to Mine, it takes him a moment to close the gap between up.
His lips were dry, which was a relief for Jessie.

"What the? Colby!" Sam's voice exclaims as Jessie jumps from bee kneeling position.
"I mean... Hey bro" Sam plays it off and leans against the doorframe.
"I-I.... I.... I'll be getting back to-to Alex" Jessie stutters nervously, still shocked from the kiss she slips past Sara and walks a little to quickly into Alex's room.

Sam enters the bathroom and closes the door behind him.
"What the hell was that?" He demands answers as Colby's blue tail poles through the layers of bubbles.
"tails are so much better the legs... And feet" Colby makes a Fake gaging sound as Sam rolls his eyes in frustration.
"Okay... What are we gonna do with him?" Corey asks after they all assembled back in Sam's room.
"Well I did more research and the only I found was a poem about looking into the moon's eye and to beware of it" Elton informs us. "What if we just lock ourselves in the bathroom with him, lock the door, hide the key. Bring the pizza pockets" Corey suggests.
"that might work" Sam bites his lip.

=~•The Next Morning•~=

The morning sun light shined into the bathroom which perfectly shined on Sam and Corey's faces.
"Did you sleep?" Corey asks Sam as he tilts his head up to look at him. "Barley... I ended up emptying the tub of water once sleeping beauty fell asleep" Sam explained When Colby sat up in the bathtub and stretched out his whole body. Even his legs. "That was one hell of a sleep" he yawns.
"Well speak of the devil" Corey mumbles as he sits up.
"What happened last night? Wait... What? Why am I in a bathtub?" Colby looks around confusingly for a moment before turning to his friends for help.
"wait, you don't remember anything from last night?" Elton asks as he rolls over.
"Just... A little bit after coming over. It's all blank..." Colby rubs his head and lets out a sigh, but then inhales through his nose, but stops mid way. "W-Why does my breath smell like sardines?" He asks worriedly as the 3 other guys smile and lightly laugh.

After clearing some things up with Colby the guys decided to go downstairs to eat breakfast.
When they entered the Kitchen, Alex and Jessie were already seated at the table with some freshly made scrambled eggs on their plates.
"I'll be back" Jessie says as she stands up and walks towards the guys. As she lasses Colby she slows down and whispers.
"Thanks for last night" She innocently smiles before continuing past them and back upstairs.

"Wait what the crap is she talking about?" Colby's eyes go wide as Sam, Corey and Elton burst out laughing.

Jessie locks the bathroom door then strides towards the mirror. She begins to inspect her hair.
Her pink hair was about even more faded out now. It's getting so close to half of her hair being the normal dark colour it is... It was.
With each full moon it disappears faster...
She needs to work fast, cause if she loses all the colour she's as good as dead.
