Your my WHAT!?
"Evelyn..." the daring voice taunts. "Man what a surprise seeing you here."
I turn to glare at Simon.
"I can't believe you," I jabbed at Simon. "You never told me that he was going to be here." I glared at Simon and stomp away like a toddler.
"I didn't mean to lie. But he's my alpha so I can't not obey plus you never would have came." I nodded and took a breath. Alec Night the biggest most arrogant person I have ever met!
"Hello." I said curtly. This guy has been my arch nemesis since the third grade. He would always steel my stuff and mess with my hair. In high school things didn't get better, he was just as much of a jerk as he was before except the quarterback of the football team.
"I really feel the love." He said placing a hand over his heart and smiled. Man he looks good...wait no! He doesn't, why did I just think that?
"Anytime." I looked back to Cassie who was smiling and kept looking between us. "What?!"
"Nothing. Nothing at all." I sighed as my stomach growled. "Someone's a little hungry." She cooed in a mocking manner. Ugh!
"Whatever, I'm going to get food." Everyone laughed. I started walking towards the dinning hall when someone fell instep next to me. "I can't believe you!" I hissed at Simon.
"Wow...you really know how to make a guy feel special princess." Never mind, definitely was not Simon.
"I'm sorry. I thought you were Simon Alec. I'm upset with him because he didn't tell me that you were gonna be here. Wait that came out wrong. I just..." he stopped and grabbed my hand tugging my arm, so I stopped too.
"Go I'm ahead. We'll catch up." The group nodded and walked farther down the path. I sighed and tugged my arm back.
He frowned slightly and looked disappointed. "Follow me" He began walking towards the woods. Is he going to kill me?! No...I'm fine. I trust him in a weird way. I don't know what these feelings are, but I'm hoping this conversation will help me to understand. Alec was always mean but never mean. He would steal my stuff but then he'd always give it back to me. He was always poking fun at me but not in a mocking way but a joking way.
We walked in the woods for a while. Oddly enough there aren't many bugs which is great because I don't do bugs, at all! He stopped by a creek and sat on one of the two rocks. "You can sit." I did as he said. We sat there. Sat there some more.
He coughed. "Ok, so I know you don't like me at all..."
"It's not that." I said quickly. Wait why did I say that? I despise him...most of the time. What is going on. He smiled and grabbed my hand. "Woah..." what is this feeling?
"You feel that?" I nodded mutely. "That's because we...I...you...uh?" He started blushing. Awe! So cute.
"It's ok. Use your words." I joked and smiled.
"As you know. I'm a werewolf. Well, I'm the alpha which means I'm possessive and...well. Ok here it goes." He takes a deep breath. "You're my mate."
Huh?! "Wait. Backtrack. I'm your what?"
He laughed. He just laughed at me! "Yes princess. Mates are like soulmates and you are mine. That's why you fell those things. That's why you feel this when we touch. That's also why I was mean to you when we were kids..." he said sheepishly.
I nodded slowly. "So what does that mean?"
"It means that you are mine. You will be my world and my Luna. I will love you forever and ever." Hmm?
"I don't even know you."
"We can change that though. We can start now. Twenty questions?" He asked really nervously.
"Alright ya." I smiled big. How is this possible I laughed to myself. "What's your favorite color."
"Well typical me would say black but...I like the color blue. Not any blue however. I like the deep blue green shade like your eyes."
I blushed deeply. "You know eyes are the window to the soul."
"What do my eyes tell you?" I stared deep into his deep honey brown eyes. They were deep pools of never ending emotion.
"Well typical me would say eyes, but yours are different. I can stare into them forever if I wanted. They say that you are tough and soft." I stopped myself and took a needed breath I didn't realize that I had been holding. "You have very pretty eyes." I commented.
He stared intently for a moment. "Your eyes are beautiful. They tell me that you are a free spirit that loves and trusts few but would do anything for them. Your eyes are two deep pools that already have me falling head over heels. You're souls is just as beautiful in the inside as it is in the out." I blushed looking down at my lap. I gasped when I felt his soft warm hand brush the side of my face gently nudging it up to look at him.
"I'm sorry." I blushed again. Jeez, I need to get myself under control.
"I love your blush. You don't need to hide that princess." Cue the blush. "I believe it's my turn anyway. What is your favorite place?"
"I enjoy the woods. I like how calm it can be yet full of life. You can get lost but still know where you are. I like the smell of the trees and the smell of rain." The edges of his mouth crinkled up as he fought a smile. "Favorite season?"
"Hmm. That's a tough one. I like fall and winter. Summer and spring are nice but I love the snow and playing with my little brother. I like the fall because the leaves and the forest looks like a thousand artists spilled there pallets of paint and splattered the trees." Awe! He's adorable. My stomach growled again. He laughed again. I forgot all about food. Wow I must really like him.
"This is nice. I like talking to you. I never realized it before but you're not all that bad." I teased and he pushed me with his shoulder in a joking manner. We caught each others eyes and stared for a moment.
"We can always continue this conversation later." He winked at me. "We should go get something to eat. Would you say you want pizza?" I nodded. Wait what?
"How do you know?" He let out a loud deep laughed.
"You should have seen your face!" He laughed down more as I sat here. And sat. I grinned slowly and laughed along. "Alec sent me the video princess and omg!" Once He sobered up and looked at me intently. "We should do this more often."
"Yes I had fun, this was nice." He looked like he wanted me to say something more. "I don't know what you want me to say." He shook his head and thought.
"Say that you'll forgive me. Say that you'll be my girlfriend?" He searches the back of his neck nervously. I don't really know him, yet some part of me trusts him.
"Yes..."the grin on his face was award winning. "But no." Oh my lord! I just killed his every hope and dream. "Hear me out and don't give me those puppy dog eyes." He sighed and nodded. "I will be your girlfriend just...I don't know. I feel that we don't really know each other. A
part of me trusts you which is weird because my entire life all you've been was an arse. I will be, but I also need time to figure out my life. All of this," I waved my hands all around me. "is new. I need for you to be patient with me. Please?" I asked and gave the puppy dog eyes.
His mouth turned upwards and he grabbed my hand again. "Absolutely princess. I've waited for you o say those words my entire life. I'll help you through it. How about this week I take you out?" My stomach started to feel queasy and my knees jello.
"As in a date?"
"Exactly like a date. We'll only do what you feel comfortable doing. We'll talk and get to know each other and I'll take you on a tour of the camp and tell you some more about the people. Hopefully help to make this transition smoother." I gave him the biggest smile I could muster and tackled him in a hug. "Woah...easy there tiger." I laughed unto his chest.
"Thank you..." My stomach gurgled again. I felt the vibrations from his chest as he laughed.
"We better go feed you."
"Ya. Tho they say not to feed gremlins after midnight." I winked up at him as we got off the ground and rushed ourselves off.
"Good thing you're not a gremlin." He whispered to me as he reached over and plucked a leaf from my hair. His hand lingering on my head a second longer. I blushed and looked towards the creek.
"It's beautiful here." I said in awe of the view.
"Ya, it is." His eyes never leaving mine. "You're the only person I've brought here." He turned towards the creek. Next to the two rocks we were just sitting on was a tiny slope that dipped into a clear blue creek. Then on the other side was an oasis. There was numerous flowers, which meant bees in the summer, and a giant tree. Dangling beneath the tree was an oak swing. It was absolutely beautiful. "You wanna swing?" He asked with a mischievous glint in his eye.
I nodded like a kid in the candy shop. His arms snakes around my waist as he guided me down the slope and we jumped over the creek. "M'lady" he bent down and gestured at the swing. I tried my best to be graceful but ended up failing. Miserably.
"That's not exactly what I meant." Alec said trying his best not to laugh.
"Ya...well I'm a klutz." I laughed. When I gracefully went to sit down I tripped over my foot and landed crooked on the ground. He shrugged and laid down next to me on the soft green grass. I looked into his eyes and started laughing all over again and he joined me.
We laid there for ever it seemed just next to each other. Not talking or touching. After a while the sun began to set and we say listening bugs emerge from the darkness. Their light against the tree and flowers was magical. I listened to the woods and the creek. The birds chirping and humming to each other. There was this faint wishing sound. Was it a waterfall? We should probably go and get you food." He finally said breaking the silence. I nodded as my stomach growled in agreement. I let out a chuckle and stood up.
"Ya. Probably." He grabbed my hand and led the way as we walked back towards the dinning hall. "Is there a waterfall back there?"
"Yes. It's by the creek. I can take you sometime if you'd like." I nodded once again.
"I heard it while we were laying down and I figured that there was one close or I was going crazy."
"Well..." I scoffed and slapped him upside the head with a smile. "Hey! You said it..." he joked.
Cassie and Simon exited from the dinning hall. "Well I see the two love birds are back from their long romantic walk." I laughed and blushed. "Is the one and only Evelyn Brooks blushing?"
Cassie smacked him on the side of the head. "Thanks." I told her grateful I didn't have to leave Alec's embrace to deal with my idiot of a best friend. She smiled politely.
"Well you two. I hope you worked things out. You were there for some time." She said in a sing song voice. I blushed and smiled.
"That would be my fault. I fell and I didn't want to get up so we laid there."
"Just laid? Nothing else?" Simon said suggestively. I blushed once more and hid my face in Alec's chest.
"Simon!" Cassie yelled and laughed in disbelief.
"What? We were both thinking it. I just said it." We all laughed. "Well..."
"Omg! Simon NO! Now shut up. I want food." I began my walk towards the doors when Cassie stopped me.
"Hey, I'll let you two enjoy your dinner and rest up tonight, but tomorrow we need to talk, discuss what you are and what we're going to do. Ground rules, your Zachary issue, how things work in the camp, roommates." I nodded and my shoulders slumped with all the unknowns in my life.
"Okidokie." I smiled and walked towards food.
