CHAPTER 1
ENJOY ❤
Noorie quickly opened the car door and jump out of the car. She was very excited to show everyone her result. Her grandma and grandpa will be so happy. She opened the front door and saw her mum in the living room, typing on her phone.
"Good afternoon, mum" She greeted.
Her mum, Salma looked up from her phone and gave her a curt nod. Noorie walked near her to show her the result. "Look at my result!"
Salma collected the paper from her and went through it with a frown on her face. "Why can't you get straight A's?" Salma questioned, glaring at her.
"I tried my best" Noorie's reply was curt.
"You tried your best? Are you seriously talking to me like that?" Salma got up from the couch glaring at her daughter. She doesn't understand who Noorie thinks she is in this house.
Noorie simply stared at her, knowing the woman in front of her wants to annoy her today.
"You walked inside the living room with this nonsense result and you expect me to pet you or what? You think I am going to shout excitedly?" Salma questioned her daughter, shaking her head. Noorie must be a fool to think she will be happy seeing her result.
"But I tried my best" Noorie was getting annoyed, listening to her mother.
"You didn't try at all. How can you tell me this nonsense result is your best? You are a failure! You are nothing but a failure!"
Noorie tried to blink back her tears listening to her mother calling her a failure. This whole drama isn't new to her. She knows the kind of person Salma is, but she keeps praying she will change. She shouldn't have bothered to show her the result at all.
Salma started laughing all of a sudden "I don't expect anything good from you. You are nothing but a failure. The only thing you are good at is causing pain to other people. That is the only thing you are good at!" Salma was glaring at Noorie with so much hatred in her eyes.
Noorie couldn't hold her tears anymore. She crouch down on her knees, weeping quietly. Her mother derives joy in insulting her. She is getting used to the insults but she still cries whenever her mother insults her. She always have heartache seeing the way Salma glares at her with so much hatred. She doesn't understand why her mum hates anything that has to do with her.
"I am sorry! I am so sorry, Mum!" Noorie apologized, crying on the floor. She doesn't know why she is apologizing, but she feels like that is what she is suppose to do.
"Don't you dare call me your mum?" Salma raised her hands to slap her, but someone was quick to hold her hand. Noorie looked up to see the person who stopped her mum from slapping her. Her grandmother was holding Salma's hand. She tried to free her hand, but she glared at her, tightening her hold.
Noorie smiled seeing her grandmother holding Salma's hand. She is always there to stop her daughter from beating the hell out of her.
"Why are you like this? Why do you behave like this with her? You should have at least congratulated her, but you raised your hands on her instead. This isn't fair, Salma" Her grandmother scolded. "You are behaving like a child, why?" Goggo asked, shaking her head. She hates to see Salma treating Noorie like that.
Salma glared at her and ran upstairs to her room. Goggo pulled her up and hugged her. "Everything will be okay" She assured, patting her granddaughter's back.
Noorie nodded, wondering why Salma hates her so much. It doesn't make sense to her being treated like that by her own mother. She had to ask Goggo if Salma is her biological mother one day. She has friends and their mother don't treat them the same way her mother treats her. Sometimes, she wish her father was living with them. Maybe he won't be like her mother. She asks about him, but they always try to change the topic so she stopped asking. She has been living in her grandfather's house with her mum as long as she can remember. No one says anything about her father and she stopped asking about him seeing no one is ready to give her answers.
"You should freshen up" Goggo said to which she nodded. She walked upstairs to her room, sluggishly. She is glad her grandparents are still alive. They are more like her actual parents.
She entered her room and close the door behind her. She drop her school bag on the couch and slump down on the bed. She always try her best to please her mum, but the woman hates her so much.
"Come downstairs for lunch!" Goggo shouted from downstairs. Noorie got up from the bed and entered the bathroom to take her bath. She changed into a new cloth and went downstairs. She prayed in school earlier before coming home.
She sat down on the dining table and watch her grandmother dish out food for her. She placed it in front of her and gave her a small smile. She also sat opposite her and ate her food, quietly.
"Why are you not eating?" Goggo asked, staring at her food. Noorie didn't say anything. She just stared at the food in front of her. It looks inviting, but she doesn't have appetite. "Is it about your mother?" Goggo asked. "Do not worry about her. She is just going through a tough time" Goggo assured.
Noorie doesn't think it's right for Salma to treat her like that, come what may. Why did she give birth to her only to treat her like trash?
"Please eat your food. I promise I will talk to your mother. She will change, Please eat." She beseeched. Noorie nodded. She couldn't say no to her grandmother. She forced herself to eat, pushing away any thought that has to do with her mother.
