"Has any of you guys heard anything about the new DADA teacher?"

"I thought you were the one about gossip, Padfood. Why would you expect any of us to know?"

"I dunno, Moony, but maybe Prongs did. He's Head Boy now, there has to be some privileges for me in that."

"Are you using me, Pads? That's not fair. Besides, I am only partly Head Boy now. Means, I am Head Boy, but I used my power to give myself the privilege of forgetting about it for a while."

"Am I the only one cunfused by Prongs' last statement?"

"Y'know Wormtail, you don't actually have to listen when Prongs talks, you just have to pretend to get it, and eventually he'll shut up with his weird things."

"Hey! That was offensive! Moony, say something to him."

"Hi, Sirius, how are you today?"

"I meant about his behaviour. He just disrespected me! Give him detention for lack of respect to his superiors or some shit like that."

"I am a Prefect, James, but you're the actual Head Boy. Why don't you do that yourself?"

"Because that would make Prongs disrespect me, which would force him to give detention to himself too, which would cause a disrespect made by him to himself, which would end up in a loop of James disrespecting himself and giving himself detention."

"Don't worry, Wormy, you weren't the only one who didn't understand Padfood now."

"Anyways, Pads, I was with a patrol with Mary McDonald yesterday, and she told me she met the new teacher, but I believe she wasn't very pleased with her."

"Did she tell you why?"

"Nope. She just said she didn't like her. Then we found a couple kissing and–"

"You can skip the details, Prongs. So, are you coming to class? It's in five minutes, and the classroom is pretty far."

"Nah, you go yourself, Moony. Me and Prongsie here are gonna trust McDonald, and if she says the teacher's bad, then there's no point in coming to class early, is there?"

"I somehow expected that answer. Wormtail, you're coming with me, right?"

"Of course! Let me just– The cake– Okay, I'm done."

"Bye Moons! Bye Wormy! We'll miss you!"

Lily was sitting next to Marlene, just behind Alice, when Sirius and James finally decided to give the teacher the honour of meeting them.

The woman, who had introduced herself as Dorothea Gorman (Professor Gorman for the students), had seemed really pretty to Lily. She was around thirty years old, and her blonde short hair gave her a pretty modern look, along with her light blue eyes. She had explained to the class that she liked to do both theory and practice classes, so that they'd learn the thing in the first classes of the week, and by the end of the week they'd be able to create the spell or fight against the creature.

Of course, when, after ten minutes of quick introductions, Professor Gorman asked generally who were the owners of the empty seats in the class, Lily already knew what to expect.

Suddenly, just after the teacher's question, the door banged open. Behind it, the two missing marauders were standing proudly, with some muggle sunglasses on and their iconic smirk, James Potter and Sirius Black. Who else.

Professor Gorman turned to look at the two boys, an unreadable expression in her face.

Marlene leaned into Lily's ear. "I bet this in going to be fun."

Lily smirked, amused. "Not gonna bet against it."

"And who may these extremely polite boys be?" The Professor asked.

"I'm James Fleamont Potter." Said James, his smirk only getting bigger, while Lily rolled eyes.

"And I am Sirius Orion Black." Sirius stated, "The second."

"I see." Professor Gorman crossed her arms, but Lily swore she could see the amused look in her face. "And what is your excuse for missing the first ten minutes of my class?"

"Our amazingness?" Asked James, pretending to be insecure about it.

"Their idotness, that may be." Lily heard Alice whisper to Marlene, and she chuckled at the girls, turning around.

"And our awesomelyness and perfectlyness." Added Sirius.

"These aren't even real words." Said Lily to the girls, but a bit to laud it seemed, since everyone turned to look at her. She shrugged. "Sorry. Just pointing out."

"Well, technically, these are words." Sated James, looking directly into Lily's eyes, "If we can say them outloud, and they have a meaning, which all of you understood, then I can't see why they aren't real words." He discussed.

Lily sighed. "Yes, but in order to be a real word, it must be into a dictionary."

Lily was conscious of the whole class looking amused at her and James' conversation, and she could feel the Professor's half smiley look jumping from her to him, her arms still crossed, but now an almost smirk was starting to draw into her lips.

"Well, if I create a dictionary, and put awesomelyness and perfectlyness in there, will it be a real word?" Argued back James.

Lily opened her mouth to contradict him, but Professor Gorman interrupted her before she could say a word.

"As much as I am enjoying this," She said, "I would appreciate if we all peacefully agree that knowing if awaesomelyness and perfectlyness are or are not real words is not going to help you in a duel, and continue with the class."

"Of course, Professor." Said both the Head Students in an unexpected unison, James nodding with his head.

"Well then, if you had been present in the previous minutes of class, you would know that the seats the other students are in will be permanent, and that I expect that you will all be able to work like this. But, seeing your–um–ways of presenting yourselves" She gestured vaguely to James and Sirius. "And, believe me, I don't want to fall in first impression judgements, but I get the feeling that you two will not behave nicely if I let you sit together in the end of the classroom, as it was planned for you to do."

"We can assure you, we–" Started Sirius, but Professor Gorman interrupted him.

"My decision is firm." She stated. "I think Mr. Black will be able to sit next to, let's say, Mr. Lupin, I think you said that was your name?" Remus nodded, "Well, I get the impression you can be a responsible boy and a good influence to him, or am I wrong?"

Sirius and James exchanged an amused look, and Lily heard chuckling around the class. Remus just smiled angelically. "I think that can work." He said, before grabbing his back and going to sit next to Sirius in the back of the class, both of them grinning proudly at James.

"And as for Mr. Potter here..." The Professor started. "Miss. McKinnon?" She asked.

"Yes?" Marlene threw Lily a look she couldn't figure out.

"Can you please go sit next to Mr. Pettigrew?" Demanded Professor Gorman, and the girl obliged. "I have the impression Mr. Potter and Mss. Evans will be able to work quite well."

Lily could see in the back of her eyes Alice and Marlene exchanging an amused look, and Sirius smirked at James, but she was focused on the boy's face, which was a mixture of embarrassment and confidence she hadn't seen before.

"Oh yes, Professor, I feel it'll be quite nice."

"I don't care what Sirius says, I liked the new teacher." Said James, opening a broom closet and then closing it when seeing that there was nothing out of place.

He was patrolling with Remus, who had had a hard time convincing Sirius that he'd be alright playing chess with a sleeping Peter. The corridors were dark and silent, and all the portraits were sleeping, which was a relief to James, who had had a few unpleasant experiences with eavesdropping portraits.

"She's alright, I guess." Shrugged Remus, while pointing his wand to the darkest parts of the corridor, to check there wasn't anything out of place. "You like her because she made you sit with Lily." He pointed out.

"I don't." James said, going to open another closet while Remus kept walking, and the brooms inside it fell. James started putting them back in, not minding. "I just feel like we finally have a teacher who knows what she's doing. Remember last year's? He had no idea on how to even do Disarming Spell. I bet he was a squid."

"Perhaps," Said Remus, rolling his eyes at James' lack of carefulness and at his obsession in doing the tiniest things without magic, another of the habits he had gotten in his highest and hopeless times of his crush on Evans, when he had noticed that she didn't like to do everything with magic. "But that doesn't mean you are not grateful that you get to sit with Lily."

"Au contraire, really." Contradicted James, shrugging, "If not, I am more and more aware of my plan for this year failing completely."

"And what was your plan, may I ask?"

They had reached the end of the second's floor corridor, and they turned right, deciding to look out for that part, the night light falling brighter over them, coming directly from the enormous window in the end of the hallway.

"Staying away from her." James explained, his tone pointing that he didn't really like where the conversation was going. "I apologized for my previous behaviour, and I was expecting on like... be friends with her or something. Not sitting with her at class and literally sharing a room with her."

Remus laughed slightly. "You see, James, you've had a crush on her for years. It's not going to fly away that easy."

"I am over her." He replied, tough. "I swear." His tone then took a tiny change, as if he was giving up, "I just want to move on, finish this school year and go fight in the war, or get a job in the ministry. Easy. It doesn't involve talking to Evans, not even a time."

"Come on," Said Remus, in this motherly way that James had loved since the first time he had seen the werewolf, when he was only an eleven year old, lost, and with an extremely low self esteem. He was glad he and the boys were able to change that, and that the boy besides him was brighter than his eleven year old self. "It's not like you are able to stay away from her."

"I can!" Contradicted James, "Besides, she doesn't want to be with me. She probably hates me anyways."

"She doesn't hate you." Remus assured him, patting him on the back while they both went to open another closet. "She just hasn't had the chance of meeting you correctly."

"Maybe you're right." Said James.

They continued walking for a while, none of them saying a word for minutes. The moon was absent that night, and James knew that made Remus a lot happier than usual. He often found himself thinking about Remus' problem. He didn't think of it as a curse, like Remus did, he just thought it was an obstacle to his life, but that it could be used as a good thing. Since they had all become animagus, they had found themselves enjoying these nights, planning them, knowing how to explore the forest, having outside school adventures. And he knew Remus was very grateful for that.

He smiled fondly at the boy next to him. "Sometimes I wonder what we'd do without you, Moony." He said.

Remus chuckled. "You'd all be expelled." He affirmed.

"And we are all very grateful for that." James nodded, and they continued to walk in silence.

"Black, for Merlin's sake, could you please get out of my room and go back to the common room before I decide to give you detention?"

Lily was trying really hard not to raise her voice, but the black haired boy in front of her was annoying her, and she really had to continue reading the book she was just checking out when none other than Sirius Black decided that he'd start tapping We Will Rock You in Lady Winstorm's face until someone inside the room opened him.

Then, Sirius had proceeded to ask for James, and when Lily had told him that his best mate was on a patrol along with Remus (which Lily had the impression Sirius already knew), he had decided that the redhead must have hidden him, and followed to check everywhere of their Common Room, including Lily's room, where they were now.

"You can't give me detention," Said Sirius, getting down to check under Lily's bed.

"Why not?" Asked the girl, rolling eyes for the hundredth time since Sirius had entered the dormitory.

"Because technically," he paused, and dedicated the girl a smirk, "I am not out at night, nor was out, because when I came here it was still day time."

"I hate it when some of you say technically." Lily said, "Technically, I could turn you into a purple carrot right now, and you'd stay transfigured into a purple carrot until tomorrow."

"I reckon I'd be quite a handsome purple carrot, though." Replied Sirius, getting up.

Lily chuckled, "Maybe you'd find a red carrot that'll fall in love with you, and you'd live a happy ever after."

Sirius laughed. "You're funny, Evans." He stated, "Really–I've always admired the way you replied to James when he asked you out. Creative, funny, and badass."

"Badass?" Lily asked, laughing, "That sounds more like Marlene than me."

"Oh no," Sirius said, looking at her amused "Evans, did you just laugh? Like–at something I said; not at me, or at my stupidity?"

Lily smiled, and sat down on her bed. "What if I did?" She asked.

"If you did," Started Sirius, sitting down next to her. "I can officially say I've had a successful conversation with Lily Evans. That's quite an amazing achievement."

"Yeah?" Asked Lily, "Is it so rare to talk normally to me?"

"For normal people, no." Grinned Sirius, "But for me and James... It's quite our dreams, y'know? 'When I grow up, I wanna be able to have a normal conversation with Evans'. The usual."

Lily opened her mouth to reply, when the sound of a door was heard, followed by the sound of something falling and some 'ouch's from downstairs.

Sirius quickly got up, screaming "Don't worry, Jamesie, I am saving you!" While he rushed downstairs, and Lily was quick enough to see how Sirius threw himself onto James as if they were little kids. they started rolling, and playfully punching one another, and Lily retrained the urge to roll eyes at their childish behaviour. Instead, she laughed at the boys' fun, and waited for them to get up.

"Well," Said Sirius, getting fake dust off his uniform and helping James get up. "Now that I've stated that James has not been kidnapped by Evans–which, now that I think of it, wouldn't be such a bad thing, I think I am free to go to the dorms, especially if you have finished your patrols and there is no one looking for me."

"Who knows," James chuckled, "Maybe Miss Norris wants to see you, we all know you've got an interesting relationship with her."

Sirius laughed, but Lily didn't get it. "Anyways, it was nice seeing you," And he added, nodding to James, "Prongs" and then to Lily, "Evans" and he left.

"Did you just have a normal talk to Sirius?" Asked her James, looking quite amazed. Lily nodded, not knowing what to say. James threw himself to the coach. "Damn it." He said, "He wasn't supposed to actually accomplish our new year resolutions from 1973."

"You made a new year's resolution about me? In third year?" Said Lily, pretty shocked.

"Not only one." Admitted James, getting up and grinning mysteriously at her before entering his dorm, leaving Lily in the coach, wondering what just happened.

***********

I updated! Are you proud of me?? I didn't update for three weeks, I am sorry... Also sorry if it was pretty rushed at the end, I was hungry but wanted to finish it before going to find snanks.

Idrk what was that, like I had planned to only introduce Professor Gorman, but I felt like writing more, so here you have it: Remus and James (which, fight me on it, but I think it's a really underrated friendship) and MOONSTAR!

Today I am feeling generous, and I feel like saying thank you to Merida for the name Dorothea Gorman, because I rlly suck at getting new names, and to Aurora Potter (who I didn't quite know till today) because you reading my book got me motivated to finish writing this chapter, and now I am publishing it so thx :)

Question: Do you want to see some of Mary McDonald or Emmeline Vance, or should I leave the girls as Lils, Marls and Alice?

Bye bye, loves <3
