The Hug
I'm... Still alive. OK fine. Whatever. Maybe next time.
I open my eyes. I'm back at Null's house. Fortunately, I'm not back in the room I was in before. I'm on the couch, with a warm blanket over me. It's surprisingly comfortable. I almost want to go back to sleep, but I don't have the time to nor do I deserve to. I have to prepare to face I.T.
Didn't they shoot me? I think they did. I was flickering so it's kinda hard to remember. Eh, who cares. I've got better to do. I start to get up.
I hear a crash in the living room. I dash into the room to make sure Uncannoned's OK. I find him struggling to get to his feet, pulling himself up on the couch arm.
"Uncannoned stop," I demand.
"I've got business to attend to," Uncannoned replies, "I really gotta go."
"You're in no condition to leave," I explain, "you just flickered and die. You need to rest."
"I need to train," Uncannoned replies.
Oh gods he is turning out like Reaper. I've got to step in. What do I do? Gotta think of something, he'll fade if he continues like this. I can't put it off any longer. Now's the time.
"Where's my scythe?" Uncannoned asks.
"Here," I reply handing it to him. I look at his deep, hazel eyes under his dark cloak. He turns away shyly. He's so cute.
"So," I speak softly and sweetly, as he's emotionally unstable and I have to be careful not to make him flicker again, "wanna go..."
I can't do it. It's...
Illogical.
Then again, I don't really care. I'm just... Afraid. Afraid of being denied, afraid he'll ditch me if he learns I wasn't always feminine, but I have to push these fears aside. He needs a reason to live, and I can be that reason.
Null turns away, clearly nervous. I still can't see their- I'm sorry, according to Good and Evil, HER face, but the way she turns away, she's clearly about to ask something she's not confident about.
"You wanna go grab a soda?" Null asks.
Is she asking me out? Uhhhhh... Well, uhhhhh... How do I respond to this? I don't see why not. So, might as well. What's the harm?
He blushes and turns away again. "Sure," he smiles, "why not? First though, I'm famished, got anything I can snack on?"
"I made cookies," I reply, "let me get you one."
She leaves the room and returns with two cookies, eating one herself.
"New flavor is probably ready," Null smiles, "can't wait to try it."
"I got a taste of a prototype," I explain, "it's... An experience. Let's go."
We begin to head towards the soda machine. I'm not really sure how to start a conversation with Null. How do you talk to an entity who's been around for longer than anyone else? Wouldn't she have already talked about everything?
"So," Null smiles, "how did the visit to I.T.'s place go?"
"I don't wanna talk about it," I reply, "so, why exactly don't you sing more?"
She turns away from me, blushing shyly in a charming way. She seems so tense. I don't know why, she's sweet and charming and all that, but I'm a murderer. I don't really have a shot with her. (Yes that was a murder pun. Why? Cause why not?)
"Let's discuss something else," she replies, "like, what kind of hobbies do you have?"
I realize I don't have any. I just train and fade or flicker or whatever. I don't do much else. Maybe I should get the conversation flowing to what she looks like? It's not really important to me, but it couldn't hurt... Nah.
"As of right now," I reply, "none. Don't worry about it."
None? This poor guy, he lost everything. I wanna hug him again. Should I? Is he even considering this a date? Well, there's only one way to find out. I wrap my arms around Uncannoned...
