Learning The Truth
We arrive at the battle. It's already almost over. Time to end this. We go into the fray, destroying the souls of any fallen soldiers. It takes hours as the battle rages on, but eventually, there's no one left. I sit down, turned away from all the blood. Looking at it makes me sick, but if had to be done. I never have to hurt anyone ever again. Better go check up on Nathan.
I head towards Nathan's world, the abyss now devoid of all life except me. I near the miniverse, only to see Nathan awaiting my arrival.
"Heh," he smiles, "you've been busy huh?"
"The job's done," I reply, "let's just get this book over with."
Nathan seems to ignore me. "Let me ask you something," he inquiries, "do you think there's good in everyone? That no one is truly evil?"
I shrug.
"Alright," Nathan replies, "here's a better question, did you catch the refrence? Gen taught me it, before he died."
"What is this about?" I demand.
"Did you really think," Nathan smirks, "that I want this to become canon? Edgar is still alive, and we can't have two Edgars running amok. For the sake of all who are canon this world must die. All OCs here must be erased. You three have done me a great service, but it's time for you to die."
A hollow darkness fills the air. Everyone is dead because I believed Nathan would save this world. I won't let this book end this way.
"Now then," Nathan smirks, "Edgar's may have a vision of this moment, so better put on a face."
A sad look stretches across Nathan's face. "Reaper," he says with fake sadness, "it would appear that everyone is dead. Your freinds, your family. Why'd you do it Reaper?"
OK, now I'm pissed. He's been lieing to me the whole time, and now he's lieing to Edgar? No, not like this. I have to say something!
"Speak directly to Edgar!" Antihero suggests.
"To obvious," I reply, "he's the narrator remember? He'd remove it. We need subtlety."
"How about we just kill him?" Death suggests, "catch him off guard?"
"We need a plan B," I reply, "in case we can't win. Wait, I've got it!"
"You are no better," I reply, "you could have rewritten it. You had several opportunities to stop me. Yet you did nothing."
"It is true," Nathan replies, "I should have come sooner, but now that I am here, I won't let you kill those in my world who can become canon. Prepare to die."
Nathan glows with holy magic. Normally he'd be weaker, but with all those from his world erased except those seven their power would have increased exponentially.
I lunge at Nathan. He rewrites the story, causing my attack to miss. He swipes the sword. He gets an unnerving smile. The next thing, the last thing I feel is the pain. The pain of my soul being consumed in black fire. Knowing that I.T. is not in the blade, Nathan shatters it.
Death, Antihero and I are fading from existence, flickering in and out of reality. Nathan drags our corpse through the Barrier into his world.
"You know," he smirks, "if you go high up enough in this place and cross the Barrier, (this is canon by the way) you can reach different levels of existence. Could be used to escape the void after book three in the canonverse, but see, we have our own void. Below it is where the entities are. Getting back up here from there would be impossible, but going down is impossible as well, unless it's noncanon. The instability of this timeline has opened a gateway to where the entities are. They can't come up cause they have no physical form, but you do, so if you were down there you could."
I try to ask why he's explaining all this lore, but I can't move, I can't feel, I can't do anything as I flicker.
"I have a reason for explaining this lore," Nathan continues, "Gen's dieing wish when the fail-safe failed was that I use the oppertunity for world building and lore explaining. I found his notes and now I'm telling them to you. I don't know if you're still concise though if so," Nathan holds me over the side of a bridge, dangling me over the abyss, "then this should finish you three off."
Nathan drops me. I'm fading, it's over. We lost.
Not yet! We can't fade yet! I can't fade yet! I won't die!
My vision is going dark, I see a cloaked figure.
I won't be erased...
I take up the soul shards. These three are a lost cause, but maybe as one new being...
I pocket the fading shards and go home...
