Addie's first (second) ever story :,)
In my elementary school days, I wrote a book series called The Wolf's Clan. And boy, was I excited about it.
The Wolf's Clan followed the story of Pebble, a timberwolf, who was kicked out of his pack and plotted revenge against them. At least, that was book one. Where is that, you may ask? Well, after fifth grade, I changed school corporations. Meaning I got a new google account, and most likely the other was deleted. Meaning book one, unfortunately, was lost. I have a copy of it somewhere, but I can't copy and paste it here.
As a rundown, Pebble's kicked out of his pack, manages to scramble together a "clan," kills his former leader (by jumping on him, may I add. I had an illustration and everything, it was hilarious XD), and reigns supreme. Of course, he wasn't all bad, he spared the mothers and cubs, but everyone else in his former pack died :)
There was also a flood and like three different prophecies or something like that, but those were unresolved and I am not about to go back and explain them because I have no idea what those were about.
With all of this said, I happen to have book 2 available. Book 2 is the story of another wolf in the clan leading the pack to get revenge on her pack for kicking her and her friends out.
This was book 3 as well, just a different character and a different pack. Still the same main clan, though.
Also funny thing, this was really based on warriors, so these wolves lived in like camps n stuff- it's funny because that's not what wolves do-
anyway enjoy it... if you want, if you wanna leave this that is PERFECTLY FINE this absolutely SUCKS.
TW: really bad writing, um I think a wolf gives birth and even though I don't describe it I'll put in the warning here, probably some blood and/or gore just not that bad, Whiteout being a crappy parent for like three-ish seconds

Chapter 1
The Journey's End
___________________________
Falcon looked around at the snow-covered ground below as she climbed up the ridge with the rest of the MoonClan. She dug her claws into the hard stone as Falcon pulled up to see Pebble, the MoonClan's leader, holding his paw down to help her up. Once she was at the top, they looked to see the last 2 members, Forever and her apprentice Loki, reaching the top of the ridge.
"We should be almost there. Watch out for patrols from now on, and look closely because they are hard to spot," Falcon explained to the others.
"Everyone, follow Falcon and stick together," said Pebble.
As they raced across the arctic tundra, they came over some ice floes in the dark blue water.
"Everyone, just hop on the ice. Don't fall into the water, or you'll freeze and it's also hard to get up. Paw, I know you're a good swimmer, but we don't want to risk losing you, so don't even think about it," explained Falcon, looking specifically at Paw, who was looking at the water hopefully.
As the pack hopped across the ice floes, Falcon sensed something to the south. She stopped on a floe and looked behind them.
Is there someone following us? She thought, looking closely. Most of her old pack was white, but she could spot them easily because of her keen sight. But there was no one there.
I must be imagining things, she thought, and she raced over the floes and caught up to the clan.
***************************************************************************
Error looked from the ice rock he was hiding behind at the direction of the WildPack wolf's pack.
That was close. She almost detected me, he thought as he continued forward. His misplaced leg pushed him across the cold ground like a bullet train, leaping the water between ice floes and following the scent trace of the pack.
***************************************************************************
Falcon leapt over the last floe and caught up to Pebble and Fire, who were looking into the distance in amazement.
Then, she turned where they were looking.
"Everyone," said Falcon, "Welcome to the Arctic.
Chapter 2
Tundra
___________________________
The pack descended from the snowy hill they were standing on and started loping across the open tundra, still heading north of their taiga home. Falcon took a deep breath of the crisp, cold air.
I've missed this place, she thought as she looked west to see the setting sun. The sky turned pastel pink and lilac, her favorite parts of the arctic sunset.
As the sky grew darker, the clan kept running, for even in the darkest night with no moon or stars, they could see just fine. Suddenly, her ears pricked up.
"Everyone, hide! Patrols are coming!" exclaimed Falcon. Everyone leapt into the snow or behind a rock, and Reed hid in the branches of one fir tree that had grown.
Falcon looked from her spot in the snow to see 4 white wolves passing through.
Those are my siblings! Do they know that I'm here? Falcon thought as the white wolves talked.
"Why did WE have to do patrols tonight? I'm tired!" exclaimed one, who she remembered as Snowfall.
"Quit complaining, Snowfall," said her brother, Frostbite.
"At least we're doing it with Tundra here," said another sister, Weak Ice, while staring adoringly at another wolf who must be Tundra.
Why does he look so sad? Falcon questioned to herself. She looked with sympathy at him from under the snow. Suddenly, he perked his head up from the ground, staring directly at her.
"What is it, Tundra?" asked Frostbite.
"Go on ahead, I'll catch up. I'm just going to check something," said Tundra, urging the others forward.
Once Falcon's siblings were out of hearing range, Tundra looked to the mound of snow in which Falcon was hiding.
"Falcon, if that's you under there, you can come out," he said.
Falcon slowly eased out of the snow and faced Tundra.
"Who are you and what do you want with me?" she asked Tundra.
"Don't you remember? I'm the prince of the ArcticPack. We used to hunt together all the time!" he explained.
Suddenly, she remembered every afternoon she had spent with him when she was with the ArcticPack.
"I remember now," she said. Suddenly, Tundra walked up and hugged her. It was warm like the
taiga's sunset, and it felt like Echo's hugs, but times 10.
"Are you alone? Where are your friends?" he asked, walking a little backwards.
"Hey, everyone, you can come out!" she yelled.
Suddenly, the entire MoonClan came out of their hiding places.
Then, Pebble walked towards Tundra and Falcon.
"I am Pebble, the leader of the MoonClan. If you are a friend of Falcon's, then you are a friend of ours," he stated calmly.
"Alright," said Tundra, "What are you doing here in the Arctic anyway? Weren't you exiled?"
"Revenge," she said, smiling innocently.
"I'm in!!!" he exclaimed.
Everyone looked at him in shock.
"The ArcticPack is terrible," he continued, "Nothing is fair. The wolf you threatened was actually a spy. I found out and, well, I was going to turn him in but I was angry so I killed him on the spot. I buried him so no one would find out, but still, my dad wouldn't have believed me. He never does! He doesn't take care of any problems either. He just sits in his den in luxury like a fat cat."
"Alright then, I guess we have a new teammate. Also, do you mind being a spy? Only you can get into camp without being killed," Falcon asked.
"I will if you let me back into your camp," he stated.
"Of COURSE we will!" Falcon exclaimed.
"Alright then, I'm in!" he exclaimed.
Chapter 3
The Snow Den
___________________________
The clan followed Tundra and Falcon as they loped across the icy ground in search of a good spot for a camp.
"Hey, what's that over there?" questioned Pebble.
Everyone turned to where their leader was looking to see a large ice cliff face with a waterfall thundering into a lake of crystal clear water. On the cliff face, a path of ice led up to behind the waterfall. Zion immediately ran up the path and disappeared behind the waterfall and appeared a few minutes later.
"It's safe," he said, "Come on!"
The clan walked up the ridge and filed into a large hallway with glowing diamonds and crystals lining the walls, lighting the way. Translucent milky white stalactites with amethyst flecks hung majestically from the ceiling and came down a foot from Reed's head, which could either mean he was tall enough to almost reach the ceiling or the stalactites were really long.
As the clan went deeper the hallway got taller and wider, until it opened into an enormous cavern that was lit by the diamonds and crystals. Thick clear ice covered a fraction of the ceiling to create a large sky light that would allow them to see the arctic sky above.
A large fir tree grew in the back of the cavern, illuminated by the skylight above. Low branches led up to a thick flat-topped branch that Falcon guessed Pebble would sleep on. And lining the walls, sleeping caves were carved where they could sleep. Then, Falcon noticed a cave that was much more lit up than the others. She walked over and peered in.
It was made entirely of clear ice and the floor was made entirely of crystal, giving the room a blue glow. She imagined the northern lights illuminating the room and smiled.
A mating place. Perfect, she thought. During the next aurora, her plan she had made just earlier would go into action.
She turned around and looked at the others, who were exploring the magical cavern.
We have water and Paw can fish outside, and this is the perfect spot for hunting caribou. She smiled.
This is the perfect temporary den. Let's stay.
Chapter 4
The Cat Scouts
___________________________
Falcon bolted down the ridge that led to the den the next morning and leapt up onto a rock.
There! In the distance, the faint outline of the morning patrol was in the distance.
Wait, is that... what is that? She looked in utter bewilderment at the group that was coming. It was not the patrol. Falcon remembered that they were taking the east route back, not north.
"Hey guys, come and see this!" she exclaimed.
Pebble, Loki, and Echo came out beside her first.
"What is it? Is it ArcticPack patrols?" asked Pebble.
"That doesn't look like wolves," said Echo, "What is it?"
"No clue," said Falcon, "Pebble, do you know?"
Pebble shook his head.
"Look! They're closer!" said Echo.
Falcon looked to the north to see the mass looked clearer, and she realized what it was.
Cats.
At least 15 cats were coming in a cluster towards them at a swift pace, each one fluffy and white or light greyish in color.
Falcon, Pebble, Loki, and Echo bolted across the icy ground to the cats. As they approached, Falcon could make out a small black bundle in the lead cat's mouth.
A kitten! It's so small! Why are they bringing a kitten away from it's home? Falcon thought questioningly.
Falcon stopped running and stood next to Pebble, who was looking at the cats sternly.
"Why are you in our borders? Can't you read scent markings?" he said strictly.
"We mean no harm," said a white one towards the front, "We just need to deposit something to get it taken care of."
Falcon looked at the helpless kitten in worry. Are they talking about the kitten?
"WAIT!" shouted Loki as he bolted forward, "Are you talking about that poor kitten?"
"Yes," said the same one from before, "He has no chance of surviving with that color of coat. We have to get rid of him. It is a bad sign when we get a kitten with a black coat because it is bad luck. We must drop him off in the ancient cave of DEATH."
"Well, plenty of us have black coats like me, and the only bad luck I've had was because of something that happened before I was born, and that wasn't my fault," replied Loki.
"If you don't let us pass then we will pass by force," said the front one, who dropped the kitten to speak.
Loki looked at him with a bored expression.
"You know I'm still only 11 months old and I'm at least 5 inches taller than you AND there are at least 30 other wolves in our cave that have been trained for battle," said Falcon.
"You just stay out of- HEY!! GET BACK HERE!!!" the cat that was holding the kitten yelled. Apparently, Loki had snatched up the kitten while the cat was distracted by Falcon.
Good thinking, Loki.
The cats bolted towards the direction Loki had gone, but Falcon's speed kicked in and she was in front of them before they even saw her move. Pebble sped up beside her to block their path.
"You will not cross any further into our territory. Go or we will attack!" Pebble said firmly.
"Fine. Just don't think we're gone for good," said a light grey one next to the leader, and they sped off into the icy hills.
"Come on, let's go," said Pebble, and Falcon and Echo followed behind to find Loki.
Once they got to the cave, they checked the nursery where they found Loki licking the small kitten.
"I just couldn't let them kill him because of his coat color," explained Loki.
"That's OK," said Pebble, "That was actually very brave of you to save the kitten, even if he wasn't in danger at that moment."
Loki smiled and went back to caring for the kitten.
Chapter 5
Falcon's Mate
[A/N: Warning, this chapter's kinda weird, there's not any like wolf adult funtime or anything like that, it's just weird lol. Yes this is present Addie speaking]
___________________________
Falcon snapped awake to be lying on the soft snow on the floor of the female sleeping cave. She listened for stirring, but all there was were snores and shifting.
Time for action.
Falcon sped out of the cave and sped outside to look at the sky. The Northern Lights were shining bright above with green, blue, and purple.
She smiled and sped back to the male sleeping cave where she found Tundra sleeping in a corner. Falcon tip-pawed over and nuzzled him awake.
"Ugh... Falcon? Is it time to wake up already?" he said sleepily.
"Shhh!" she said softly, "Follow me."
Falcon and Tundra silently slipped through the cavern towards the mating place, which, Falcon noticed, was glowing more than usual because of the aurora.
As they entered, she looked over to see him looking up to the ceiling in awe. Falcon looked too, and she saw how beautiful it was.
The cave's clear ice gave the light a more bluish hue, adding to the magical effect of the aurora, and making it glow like the crystals that illuminate the hall that leads to the cavern. The Northern Lights themselves were glowing with many greenish and bluish colors, creating a magical light that illuminated the cave and the ground outside.
"It's beautiful, isn't it," said Tundra calmly.
"Yeah," said Falcon, "Actually, that brings me to the reason I brought you here."
Tundra sat down and looked at Falcon intently to show he was listening.
"I know it's been a while since we've seen each other and it's only been a little bit since we met again but..." she paused, thinking about what she would say next, "will you be my mate?"
Tundra looked at Falcon with kindness in his eyes.
"Yes."
The 2 wolves circled each other and leapt around the room, over and under one another like the ancient ritual that they both knew so well, dancing in between the clear pillars that held up the roof and finally came together and nuzzled each other.
Once the ritual was finished, the two walked together to the cave designated to newly mated pairs and slept side by side.
Chapter 6
The Rogue Fight
___________________________
"HELP! ROGUES!"
Falcon and Tundra raced out of the cave to see a pack of at least 20 starving rogues snarling at Char Char as they slowly entered the cavern. Char Char was barking and growling at them, but it was no use. One dark grey wolf launched himself on to Char Char and landed on him. He yelped in pain as the heavy wolf brought him down with a bite.
"CHAR CHAR! NO!"
Athena leaped forward and tackled the wolf to the ground and clawed his throat. After a couple of seconds, he laid still.
That just enraged the rogues. They snarled and sped towards Athena swiftly, but Falcon cut them off. They skidded to a halt and growled angrily at Falcon. Suddenly, they heard a battle howl as Pebble leapt down from the ice rock and bowled through the wolves. One went after him, but Cloud joined in and finished him off. Echo rushed to take care of Char Char.
As soon as more reinforcements came, at least 7 more rogues entered. Reed went for some and got rid of them easily. Paw and Zion fought 5 wolves at once with bravery as they went down one by one. Falcon ran to a black one and bit down on his windpipe, crushing it until the wolf stopped struggling and the life fled from his eyes.
Then she saw Tundra.
He was cornered by a couple of them and he clearly was outnumbered.
"TUNDRA!" she shouted as she barrelled toward him.
She took a flying leap and landed on one large wolf that was about to attack. A couple others turned to see what was going on, but Tundra took the chance and tackled them to the ground. Falcon took down one next to Tundra. Soon they were all dead.
"Great fighting," he said.
"You too," Falcon said.
They both joined the battle until finally, every last one either retreated or was dead. The ones that died were dragged out and buried a mile from the cave.
When the group that buried the dead wolves returned, Falcon remembered that Char Char had been badly injured and was in the herb cave.
When she entered, she immediately noticed Athena. She was sitting and looking down at where Char Char was laying on a bed of snow. Falcon walked up and sat next to her.
"Do you think he'll be OK?" Athena asked glumly.
"Only time will tell," said Falcon, putting her paw on her shoulder, "Only time will tell..."
Chapter 7
The Death of Char Char
___________________________
Falcon watched Char Char's chest rise and fall slowly as the time ticked by. She had been sitting there for at least an hour. Halfway through, Tundra had come up and sat next to her, but Pebble needed him with hunting, so he had to leave on a hunting patrol with Paw and Zion. Athena had ran to her cave in sadness because she couldn't bear to see Char Char in his weakened state.
Suddenly, Char Char's breathing became more shallow.
"ECHO! COME QUICK!" she shouted into the cave where Echo kept his herbs, and he came running out of it in a panic.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"It's Char Char! Something's going on!" exclaimed Falcon worryingly.
Suddenly, foam began gathering at his mouth. He started twitching his legs. Falcon and Echo stepped back a couple steps. All of a sudden, his eyes snapped open. Char Char staggered up and growled at the 2, coming closer and closer.
"It was the wolf that bit him! He must have had some disease that transferred to him!" said Echo, panicked.
"Well, what do we DO?!?!" exclaimed Falcon.
"Don't let him bite you!" replied Echo, "We have to get him in a quarantined space where he can't escape from!"
Falcon and Echo sped out of the cave and out to a large cave that they saw with an entrance that he could leap over, but there wasn't enough space inside for him to get enough momentum to jump out.
Falcon veered left towards it, running with a speed faster than Echo and Char Char combined and leapt on top of the ledge in front of the cave. Echo followed. But when Char Char leaped, he misjudged the distance and crashed inside the small cave. He scratched at the wall and snarled at them, bubbling more foam from his mouth. Suddenly, he yelped and collapsed on the floor, moving no longer.
He's... dead.
The two wolves, with the help of Reed, broke down the wall at the entrance and carried him to a burial place, where they gathered the rest of the pack, including the hunting patrol that had Tundra in it because they had heard Char Char's violent barking from 3 miles away. Soon, they were sitting vigil around the grave in silence until the day came.
***************************************************************************
Error looked from the top of the cliff to the hill where the MoonClan was sitting around Char Char's grave in silence. He grinned evilly. Tomorrow, he would attack one of them and they would be seen doing the same thing again and again until there wasn't a single one left to mourn.
Now which one should I start with...
He went over the things that he knew about this specific clan. Reed was the big grey and white one, he was the strongest and hardest to take down. Falcon was the light grey and white one, and she was the speediest, equally as hard because of her speed. Forever was a fox-looking maned wolf and their best spy and would be easy to take down, but hardest to get to because she's always surrounded by friends or busy with random stuff. Paw and Zion were white and the best hunters, and would be easily gotten to because they are always on hunting patrols by themselves, but difficult to kill because they are skilled fighters.
Error went over these in his head and smiled. and decided.
Forever would be dead by nightfall tomorrow.
[A/N: Fun fact, since I never actually wrote books four and five: Char Char did, indeed, have rabies, and I was gonna make it spread into a wolf pandemic while at the same time humans started tearing down Pebble's forest and all the packs would come together and fight them off- my planning there was my only proud moment of actual planning XD]
Chapter 8
Forever's Fight
___________________________
Forever walked around the lake with confidence in her stride. Today she decided to fish on her own after Paw had taught her how to do it.
She kept her emerald eyes on the crystalline blue water for ice fish. Soon her eyes locked onto a silvery fish gliding through the water. She took a flying leap and dove into the cold water. The fish caught itself in her jaws and she leapt out of the water and dropped the dead fish in the snow, flopping for a moment but then laid still on the ground.
"Nice catch."
Forever whirled around to see a dark brown wolf with amber eyes and a crooked leg standing behind her. Forever looked at him with confidence.
I can't show weakness.
The brown wolf stayed where he was. "Too bad you won't be able to show that fish to your pack," he said.
Suddenly, he leaped from above, claws and teeth bared, ready to fight. Forever remembered what Locken does for this kind of thing. She dodged his claws and leapt up behind him the same way and landed on his crooked leg, which gave a snapping sound. He screamed in pain. Forever held the strange wolf down and bared her teeth menacingly.
The wolf looked up with anger in his eyes. He was obviously not used to losing. But that was a distraction. Once she weakened her hold, he rolled out and bit Forever on her back leg. She yelped in surprise and pain. She clawed his back and he let go of her, giving her the chance to climb up on top of him and push him down. She grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and dragged him to the lake where she pushed him down to the bottom where he couldn't swim up, especially with his leg misplacement. As she swam down on top of him, he kicked and struggled, but it was no use. He finally lay still and went limp, no longer struggling for air.
Forever brought him back up to the surface and dug a large hole and pushed the wolf into it. She pushed the snow back over him and then remembered something. When they had first found Loki, he had mentioned a tabby-looking wolf with a leg misplacement and amber eyes, and Blade had recognized the wolf he described.
What was his name... Error? Yes, Error.
She scratched something into the snow where he had been buried and it said:
Here lays Error, who died here at this lake
Falcon looked at the scratched writing and smiled. Then, she turned and left the lake with her catch, back to the cave where she would tell the story of the Stand at Crystal Pond.
Chapter 9
The ArcticPack
___________________________
Falcon looked through the thicket of a dead tree that she had climbed in before first light at the icy cliff where the Alpha of the ArcticPack, Whiteout, lived. She saw him walk around and give orders to everyone and shout at pups who were playing to get in the den where it is warm and they would be safe, even though they have DOUBLE GUARDS at the entrances and exits and there is literally nothing to be afraid of besides polar bears, and they live more north. Suddenly, she heard a familiar shout.
"Heyyyyyyy dad," said Tundra as he entered the camp.
"Tundra, where have you BEEN?!? It's been 2 days!!!" exclaimed Whiteout.
"Sorry... I was.. urm... captured by... rouges!" he finished, "It took me a bit to realize that they were complete DUMMIES."
"Alright, then," said Whiteout, "now GET. TO. WORK!!!"
"OK! OK!" replied Tundra, scurrying off to do other things.
Like be a secret spy for us, Falcon thought happily.
She watched as he entered the Herbs Den and disappeared, probably to see how much there was, and then reappear 5 minutes later. She wondered what information he had gathered from in there.
She turned around to see a hunting patrol coming into camp and saw one go towards Tundra, recognizing the wolf as her sister, Weak Ice.
"TUNDRA!!" she exclaimed excitedly, "Where have you BEEN?! It's been FOREVER!!!"
"Errr..." he mumbled.
"Wait-" she sniffed him suspiciously, "I smell a female wolf! Have you been CHEATING on me?!"
"When were we ever dating?" he asked, raising his eyebrow.
"Since Falcon was exiled!" she exclaimed.
Falcon saw Tundra look at Weak Ice with a confused expression.
"No we weren't," he explained, "Also, I was captured by rouges and most of them were female, so yeah."
"Well, good," she said, and she stomped off to her den.
"Geez," Tundra mumbled to himself.
Falcon then turned her attention back to Whiteout to get more intel on him.
He was laying down by the entrance of his den and... napping.
Wow. Just wow.
Soon enough, it was nightfall and she was safe to speed down the tree and check Whiteout's den out. She crept into the ice entryway and peeked around. It was warm because of a fire burning in an icy hearth in the wall, lighting up the small den. The fur of a caribou was strewn across one part of the den by the fire where Whiteout was sleeping.
Then, she noticed the small bit of snow.
She tip- pawed over to where it was and sniffed it. There was an odd smell in it that perplexed her. She silently dug at the ground until she uncovered the object in the snow.
It was a strange blue crystal like figure that was glowing a faint purple shimmer. The more Falcon stared at it, the more she felt the power that it held.
"Falcon?"
Falcon whipped around to see Tundra standing behind her by the door.
"It's time to get back," he explained.
"Coming!" she whispered, grabbing the crystal and running into the night at Tundra's side.
Chapter 10
Lynx, the new Clanmate
___________________________
Falcon bolted across the frozen river at full speed. The bright creature was just ahead, running and running into the horizon. Falcon pushed faster and faster forward, but her speed was almost at its peak. She raced forward as fast as her speed would take her, but it was no use. The bright creature raced off into the arctic sunset and disappeared.
Falcon sighed and started to turn, but then felt the heat of flames singing the tip of her tail. She yelped and turned to see a massive wall of fire crackling behind her. Falcon looked in terror at the bright flames and ran faster and faster away from it. But the fire spread and chased her. She kept running and running until she looked around to see towering dark spruce trees instead of wide white snow around her.
The taiga?
She raced across the soft podzol as the fire swallowed the trees and ferns behind her. Suddenly, Falcon was back on the tundra, the fire gone, and slowed to a stop. She sat and sighed in relief. The danger was gone, and she was-
ZAP!
Falcon howled in pain as the bolt of lightning struck her side. She fell to the ground as her strength fled from her and crashed in the snow.
"Falcon?"
Someone was calling her name. Suddenly, she felt cold water splashing her in the face.
She snapped awake to see Paw and Tundra splashing water on her to wake her.
"Oh good, you're OK," Tundra said, relieved, "You were howling like you were struck by lightning!"
"Actually," she said sheepishly, "that's what WAS happening in my dream. Sorry about that."
Tundra just looked at her, confused.
"Never mind," she said.
She walked out of the den with Tundra and walked to the front of the cave and talked for a little bit. Suddenly, they noticed a lot of commotion outside. Tundra and Falcon raced out to see what was happening.
The two mates pushed their way to the front of the crowd and saw the strangest wolf they had ever seen.
He was a brownish color with darker spots on her back and side. Her tail was short and stubby and was halfway black. His ears had black tufts at the top. He looked like a lynx, but he was much too big to be one. It was almost as if he was... a hybrid.
Is that what he is?
Pebble walked forward out of the crowd and Falcon, since she was beta, followed.
"Who are you and why are you on our territory?" he asked firmly.
"I have been looking for a pack that will accept me. You see, My dad was a lynx, but my mother was a wolf. I'm alone because I am a hybrid. My pack HATES those. Can I be a part of your pack?" he asked, "My name is Lynx."
That's a very appropriate name for him. He's half lynx! thought Falcon.
"You may if you wish, but you will have to show us your hunting and fighting skills first," said Pebble.
"Yipee!" Lynx exclaimed.
The clan went back inside to a large cave with some ice chunks on the ground that were supposed to represent an enemy.
Lynx trotted over to one of the ice chunks with Pebble and Falcon trailing behind him. Once he stopped, they sat a few feet away from Lynx, observing.
Lynx suddenly surged forward and leaped onto the ice chunk. He scratched at it and bit it until 33 seconds later, it crumbled into small rocks.
Falcon looked in astonishment at Lynx, who was looking at an equally perplexed Pebble hopefully.
"I'm guessing that was lynx AND arctic wolf tactics combined?" Pebble asked him.
"Yeah, pretty much," Lynx said.
"Well, then," Pebble said, "I was about to send out a hunting patrol before you showed up, so I will accompany you with them to see your hunting skills. If you can catch any sort of prey with the patrol, you are welcome here, but if you are not, you may still have the option to stay but not hunt until you can get better at it, OK?"
"Yes," said Lynx, "That's fine."
After Lynx, Pebble, and the rest of the hunting patrol left, Falcon took Tundra to their den and told him a secret that she had been holding to herself for a while.
"We are having pups!" she said excitedly.
"Wow, really?" Tundra asked excitedly, wagging his tail furiously.
"Yes!!" Falcon exclaimed.
"Hooray! How many?" he asked.
"I think about four pups, 3 girls and a boy," she replied.
"What do you want to name the girls?" he asked.
"I have 3 names- Peony, Sophia, and Diamondcrafter. Any ideas for the boy?" she asked Tundra.
"I was thinking of... Arctic!" he said.
"It's perfect," Falcon said.
[A/N: Don't question Diamondcrafter. Don't question it.]
Chapter 11
Falcon's Cubs
___________________________
Falcon took a fairly large rabbit from the prey pile and sat down near the nursery. It had been almost a week since she had told Tundra about their pups and started sleeping with him in the nursery. She had been eating a lot to make enough milk for them. Falcon wondered when-
Kick!
She felt a sudden jolt in her belly as a pup kicked inside.
Aaak! It's happening!
"Echo!" she called as she rushed to the nursery, "Come quick!"
Echo heard her call and came running out of the herbs den with some herbs still in his mouth. He sped over to the nursery with them and stopped by Falcon, who was breathing heavily.
"Here, take these," he said, pushing some of the herbs to her mouth, "They will help."
She nodded and quickly ate the herbs, but they were bitter and she nearly spit them out.
"Now hold still," he said.
***************************************************************************
Five minutes later, Falcon was laying on the ground with Tundra and 4 pups that were suckling on her milk. She smiled at the pups as they tickled her belly.
Tundra licked at one of them with care and the little pup licked his nose back.
"Do you remember the names we picked out?" Tundra questioned.
"Could never forget them even if I tried," Falcon said.
She looked at each one thoughtfully to see which name fit which pup. The silvery girl will be Diamondcrafter, Sophia is the girl with white and brown on her paws, the pinkish and white girl would be Peony, and the pure white boy would be Arctic.
Falcon went through the names in her head and smiled. They were perfect.
She then saw Peony, the runt of the litter, trying to squeeze into the spot where Arctic was drinking. She wiggled under him until... pop! Arctic no longer had a drinking spot. He then jumped onto Diamondcrafter, who was drinking happily next to Sophia, who joined in the wrestling. Peony was just looking at them like they were eating dirt and started drinking more milk.
Tundra carefully picked up Arctic by the scruff and put him in front of Falcon where she could groom him. He protested with a small squeaky bark, but was unable to move away from Falcon's grasp.
I can't believe I have pups of my own now! I can't wait to watch them grow up. I wonder if I could get Paw to teach them to swim...
Chapter 12
The secret of the Enchanted Crystal
___________________________
ONE MONTH LATER
Falcon looked out at her cubs playing on the ice on the floor of the cavern. She rubbed her head against Tundra, who was sitting next to her.
"Bet you can't catch me!" teased Sophia.
"Oh, you are on!" Diamondcrafter challenged, and they raced around the room.
"Seriously, guys?" complained Peony. She was standing over by Cloud, who was teaching her about the Arctic wolf legends and myths. "I'm TRYING to listen so I can study for a test!"
"What a nerd," said Arctic, who was talking to the kitten that Loki rescued, who he named Thor. He was a lot bigger now than he was when he was rescued.
"Arctic..." Tundra started.
"OK! I'm sorry!" Arctic apologized quickly.
Then, a booming voice echoed across the cavern.
"All wolves that can hunt with the pack gather in the center of the cavern," said Pebble.
Falcon and Tundra walked towards Pebble and sat with the rest of the pack around Pebble in the middle of the cavern.
"We have to prepare for our battle against the ArcticPack that will commence in a few days. Luckily, Falcon has found something in the Whiteout's den. Cloud has tested it and has discovered what it does. Cloud?" he said.
Cloud walked forward with the "enchanted crystal" as she called it in her mouth. There were many gasps in the crowd as the crystal glowed a light almost like it had the power of the aurora itself.
She dropped the crystal on the icy floor and spoke.
"I have discovered that this "enchanted crystal" actually controls the minds of any wolf. But one wolf can't be controlled by it, and that," she looked at Tundra, "is Tundra."
Tundra looked in utter bewilderment at Cloud as she continued her explanation.
"It seems to let out little particles that land in fur that send mind-controlling messages to the body. Apparently, Tundra somehow has some kind of invisible shield that protects him. And since he has pups, they probably have it too," she explained.
That's when Peony got interested. Falcon spied her pushing through the crowd of wolves to hear more, and Diamondcrafter followed.
"I have also discovered that when something is being mind-controlled, another creature can't control them unless the original mind-controller releases his or her hold on them," she continued, "Which is why we can't use it in battle. We think Whiteout is using the crystal and controlling the pack members. Falcon must have broken out of the crystal's hold, and that must have broken Echo's, Reed's, Paw's, Zion's, and my hold as well."
Pebble stepped forward.
"Everyone is now free to go and prepare for the battle against the ArcticPack. I will be with Echo collecting the herbs that we need if there are injuries," Pebble said.
Falcon walked off with Tundra to go to the prey pile to get some rabbits to share with the cubs and sat then sat down to eat.
Chapter 13
Weakening Defenses
___________________________
"Echo, do you have the nightberries?" asked Pebble. Echo, Falcon, and Fire were standing on a ledge near ArcticPack territory.
"Yes, I do," he said, showing the leaf pouch that he and Cloud had made for carrying herbs. It was filled with dark purple berries.
Pebble handed out caribou-fur bowl-shaped objects to everyone.
"These will protect your paws against the nightberries' poison. Wear these AT ALL TIMES while messing with the nightberries. Do you understand?" he asked strictly.
"Yes," Falcon replied.
"Alright," Echo said.
"OK," said Fire.
"Alright, let's go," said Pebble, and they trekked towards the ArcticPack camp.
Five minutes later, they arrived at the bramble archway, covered in snow, that led into the camp. Falcon, Fire, and Pebble each grabbed some nightberries from Echo's sack and got to work.
Falcon silently walked towards a large dead buck by Whiteout's den, probably his leftovers from dinner and also probably his breakfast the next morning.
Falcon took 2 berries from her paw and set them on the meat of the large stag. She then pressed with her paws on the berries to get the juice all over the meat, making sure to get it on the choicest bits that she knew he would eat first.
She then went over to the prey pile to squish the rest of the berries onto the prey.
Afterwards, she met up with Pebble and the others in the middle of the camp.
"Now it's time for phase 2. Everyone, to the Herbs Den," he said.
Falcon and the others followed Pebble into a large den made of fir branches from a nearby fir forest to the south. They strided in and began to collect the herbs. Echo had slipped poppy seeds in the herb wolf, Fir Leaf's mouth, so he would not wake until late midmorning. That was plenty of time to get the job done.
Falcon walked over to the juniper berry and cobweb piles in the corner of the wooden den. She grabbed them and put them in the sack that Echo had set on the ground for the herbs that they were collecting. Falcon then walked over and did the same for the burdock root.
Geez, so many herb names. How does Echo keep track of them all? Falcon thought.
Once everyone was done taking the herbs, they went back outside to commence phase 3.
"Alright, does everyone have their moon lichen from the taiga?" Pebble asked.
Falcon looked in her small necklace with a chunk of moon lichen attached to it. She gently tore off a piece and showed it to Pebble. Everyone else grabbed some from Echo's pouch.
"Excellent," he said, "Put it in the entrance of Whiteout's cave. It will stand as a warning of what's coming."
Each wolf, in turn, placed the moon lichen in front of Whiteout's den. It glowed a ghostly blue in the moonlight, giving the lichen its name.
"Now let's get back to the cave before they wake up," Pebble said, and they all loped off into the night.
Chapter 14
Spying on the ArcticPack
___________________________
Falcon watched from the large tree in the camp at Whiteout's den where he would walk out to give the morning duties to the mind-controlled wolves outside. Suddenly, she saw him.
He had been standing in the entrance THE WHOLE TIME, but almost invisible with his pure white pelt. Whiteout was looking at the bluish hued lichen at the foot of the entrance. He picked it up and ran to the Herbs Den.
Falcon didn't see them, but heard a sharp bark and a snap, and then a bewildered sound that sounded like a yelp and a bark.
Probably Fir Leaf, Falcon thought, Either he is worried about the moon lichen or he realized that the herbs were gone.
Five minutes later, Whiteout came out of the den all angry looking to eat his caribou.
This is it! Falcon thought excitedly. She watched as Whiteout lowered his head to the caribou. It felt like slow motion to her. She tapped her paw to keep from jumping excitedly. Then, he started to eat.
10 minutes later, though, when he was listening to the morning patrol, he got stiff legged. He started to breathe shallowly.
"Is everything alright, Whiteout?" asked Icicle, the lead Patrol Wolf.
"Yeah, you don't look too good," said Fjord, Icicle's mate.
"I-I-" he stammered. He looked down at the ground and looked up worriedly. Suddenly, he went limp and fell to the ground.
"Fir Leaf!" Fjord called. Then, he too fell.
"Fjord!" exclaimed his mate, worry and shock in her tone.
Fir Leaf had just come out to find out what all the commotion was when he saw the 2 dead wolves on the ground. He bolted over to Whiteout, sniffing him thoroughly. He did the same for Fjord.
"Death-seeds," he said with worry, "Someone has tainted the food with-"
Fir Leaf stopped abruptly. Not purposefully, but because he had fallen to the ground, dead.
Many screams were heard throughout the crowd that had gathered as 7 more of the strongest wolves in the crowd fell into the compacted snow, unmoving and lifeless.
"Don't eat the prey! Dispose of it and wash your paws in the lake just in case!" shouted someone. It was a big, sturdy black and white female. Her eyes were a piercing icy blue, standing out in contrast with her dark coat, "And if no one will take the lead as alpha, then I will."
Falcon looked closely at the wolf, trying to see if she recognized her from her time with the ArcticPack.
Is that- no, it can't be!
Standing on the ground below was Ebony, leader of the WarriorPack, which fit the pack perfectly, for no one could beat them, even a pack of one hundred wolves would be squashed like bugs in claw-to-claw combat.
If she takes up the position of alpha, this pack will be almost unstoppable. But why is she not with the WarriorPack? Falcon thought about this question for a minute and came up with three conclusions:
She did something to get exiled by her pack, like most of the MoonClan had,
She broke the Alpha's Code, which was what held the limits of the alpha wolves in place or
She birthed a deform (A wolf with a deformity of some kind) and was sent to another pack.
Falcon thought about these in her head, and figured that it was the second one.
Ebony stood there and waited for an answer for a few minutes, then stated, "Well, now that I am alpha, I am ordering you to GET. TO. WORK!!!!"
The wolves immediately began bustling around to do their jobs.
Wait! When Whiteout died, his hold with the enchanted crystal must have broken and transferred to Ebony! They must be listening to who they think is their new mind-controller!
Once everyone left to do their jobs, Falcon looked at Ebony. She almost jumped out of the tree in shock and surprise. Ebony's icy eyes were locked on Falcon in the tree.
***************************************************************************
After dusk, Falcon waited until the night patrols went to their dens as well as Ebony so that she could climb down and speed into the horizon, where she knew the cave was. When she got there, Pebble was waiting by Crystal Pond, the pond outside of the den.
"Did our plan work?" asked Pebble.
"Yes. Even Whiteout died. But they now have a new leader. She is the former leader of a nearby pack, the WarriorPack, which is the strongest pack in the north. If we don't attack soon, there will be no attack. They will be far too strong if we wait long," she explained.
"We will attack in two days. I will share this information with the pack first thing tomorrow morning so we can train," said Pebble.
Once Falcon followed him inside and walked inside the nursery to sleep with her pups and Tundra, she felt a deed dread rise inside of her.
If we don't succeed at this attack, my pups may die, fretted Falcon, and maybe Tundra and the rest of the pack as well...
Chapter 15
Ginger's Talk
___________________________
Falcon faced the wolf dummy in front of her with an icy glare. The pack was practicing attack moves on the piles of snow used to resemble wolves. They were not very realistic, but was the best they could do in a cold territory with no branches or leaves to work with.
Suddenly, Falcon leaped forward, claws extended, onto the compacted snow pile. She made claw marks in the dense pile. Her teeth ripped at imaginary fur on it. When she was done, her snow wolf dummy looked like a bunch of snowballs that had been crumbled on the ground.
When was I able to do that? Falcon questioned to herself. She decided, after demolishing the wolf dummy, to just eat some caribou or something to take a break.
Falcon sat down in one corner of the cave and was about to eat when Ginger walked up carrying a plump rabbit in his jaws.
"Mind if I sit over here with you?" he asked, dropping the rabbit.
"Sure, come on," Falcon replied, motioning to the seat next to her. He picked the rabbit back up and laid down next to her.
"So, how are your pups?" he asked Falcon.
"Rambunctious," she replied sarcastically, "They are very energetic."
Ginger chuckled, "I bet they're driving you nuts in the nursery."
"Yep. But they are growing in their meat teeth and will soon be eating prey," she said.
"Must be a relief to you," he said.
"Actually, taking care of pups is difficult, but once you're used to it, it's kind of fun," she replied cheerfully.
Ginger smiled, "They must be ambitious to get out and hunt with the patrols."
"That's exactly what Arctic told me this morning," Falcon laughed. Ginger laughed with her.
"Well, I better get back to training," said Ginger, "Gotta get ready for the big battle tomorrow!"
Ginger got up and walked back to the snow pile that he was using, leaving Falcon with a half-eaten piece of caribou meat. She quickly ate the rest and ran over to those other snow piles that were not being used at the moment, ready to train once more.
Chapter 16
The Arctic Battle
___________________________
Falcon followed behind Pebble as the MoonClan ran together across the icy terrain. She looked with determination to the horizon, her posture filled with everything but submission to the ArcticPack.
When the battle patrol (which was almost all of the MoonClan) had left, Falcon left her pups with Athena, who would give them some lessons for when they become apprentices so they could show off to their mentors or something like that. Glitch had stayed behind as well, but probably because he wanted to help Athena with the pups.
Falcon and the others raced across the snow, picking up more speed as they went. She barked when she saw the camp come into view, loud enough for the MoonClan to hear, but not the ArcticPack.
Pebble then made a paw signal to begin the plan. Half the clan, led by Falcon, went to the right while the others, led by Pebble, went left. They crouched behind the walls of compacted snow around the camp to make sure they were not spotted.
Falcon sniffed the air around her. The wind was coming from the south, so the ArcticPack would not smell them, but Falcon could smell the camp. It still smelled of nightberries from the night they had put them in the prey. But other than that, there was just snow, ice, other ArcticPack wolves, fire from Ebony's den, and a little bit of prey in the prey pile.
Falcon kept herself low and signaled for the pack to get ready to jump over the wall and attack. The wolves all crouched low to the ground, ready to spring up and attack at Falcon's signal.
She waited at least 5 minutes, waiting for a sound signal from Pebble, and it finally came. A sharp bark came, indicating the start of the attack.
Falcon and her group leaped over the tall wall and growled at the ArcticPack members in the clearing. The attack was totally unexpected.
**************************************************************************
Ebony heard loud growling and barks outside of her den. She zoomed out to see an unfamiliar pack closing in on the wolves in the clearing. One oddly familiar one was leading mothers and pups out and towards the nearest pack, which was the SnowPack.
Ebony looked at the invading pack once more. One white wolf with grey markings was leading a group of wolves to the right. She was very familiar to her. Then, it hit her.
Falcon.
Falcon had come back to the pack with an ENTIRE OTHER PACK to get revenge!
Ebony climbed up onto the HighIce and faced the large pack of invaders. She howled.
The ArcticPack looked up at her, but that was a mistake. As soon as the ArcticPack wolves looked at her, a timberwolf with a faint blood stain on his tail gave the signal to attack.
Blood splattered everywhere. Some wolves succeeded in fighting back, but were slain almost immediately by the invaders.
"Everyone that can fight, get out here NOW!" Ebony yelled over the growls and snarls of the wolves below.
More wolves came out of the den, but nothing compared to the pack below her. Suddenly, she heard a thump on the ice behind her. Ebony looked at the source of the noise to see Falcon, growling with her tail straight and her head high, at her.
***************************************************************************
Falcon growled and stood in dominance in front of Ebony, snarling. She took a couple steps forward. Ebony took several steps back. Her hind legs were on the edge of the ice rock.
"Falcon, you were banished many months ago. How dare you come back!" Ebony threatened.
Falcon just smirked. "Well, that's just not your business."
This comment just enraged Ebony. But that was exactly what Falcon had wanted her to do. Ebony was so distracted by Falcon's comment that she didn't notice Falcon's flying leap that brought her down to the base of the ice rock. As she and Falcon made impact, there was a loud SNAP!
Falcon looked down to see Ebony, still and limp on the ground. Her neck, where Falcon had put her paw on impact, was bent at an unnatural angle. She was dead.
Suddenly, the ArcticPack wolves were snapped out of the mind-control spell from the crystal. They looked in bewilderment at the surrounding pack. Weak Ice, who was next to Frostbite and Snowfall, had seen Tundra by then. She started whining that he had betrayed her or something like that. Tundra just looked at her with a bored expression, not even flinching when she started kicking his forelegs.
The wolves finally found out what was going on and took their attack stances. Then, the leaderless ArcticPack attacked. The MoonClan attacked. Soon, it was an all-out battle. Blood splattered on the white snow, turning it a reddish color. Falcon was facing her siblings in a standoff.
"Why did you come back, Falcon?" asked Frostbite.
"That's none of your concern," Falcon replied.
"WHO DID TUNDRA RECITE WITH???" screamed Weak Ice. "Recite" was the wolf word for mate.
Falcon smiled, "If I tell you, you will literally flip into the lake and scuba dive for an hour before coming up without losing any air."
"Hmmph!" she said in frustration.
"I am going to DESTROY you!" Snowfall exclaimed.
"I expected that from Frostbite," Falcon said, motioning over to Frostbite, who was growling at her.
"HA! You think HE would want to destroy you that much? He's basically just an oversized puppy," she prompted.
"Hmm, well, let's see if he'll want to save you," said Falcon. Suddenly, she launched herself with lightning speed at her, claws extended, and pinned her down. Frostbite leaped after her, but she kicked him with her hind legs. Tundra came over and pinned Frostbite down. Weak Ice was now yelling at Tundra for being a "meanie" or something, but he was ignoring her. She saw this and started biting his foreleg. Tundra barely flinched.
Falcon turned back to Snowfall and put her paw on her muzzle so she couldn't speak.
"Mrmph muphr," she mumbled.
Then, Falcon did something surprising.
"Escape, now!" she whispered, "Bring Weak Ice and Frostbite. Start a new pack. I know you can do it."
Snowfall nodded. Falcon got off her and Tundra did the same for Frostbite. Then, Weak Ice stopped being mad at Tundra, licked his face, and took off with her 2 siblings into the Arctic.
Tundra wiped off the spot where Weak Ice had licked him. "We won," he said. Falcon looked around to see the others celebrating for their victory.
"We did it!" exclaimed Reed.
Paw high-pawed Zion over by the prey pile that they would leave for the arctic foxes and lone wolves to eat.
***************************************************************************
Frostbite followed Snowfall through the icy plains to find a new home for their new pack. He had debated with Snowfall that he should lead, but she said that she was more responsible and was older than him, so she put herself in charge of the group, and would probably take the alpha position in the new pack.
He looked over to Weak Ice, who was hanging her head in dismay. She was pretty bummed when she discovered that Tundra had recited with someone else.
Why can't I ever have another brother to hang out with? Frostbite thought.
"Stop," Snowfall said, pausing their trek at the top of a hill. Frostbite walked a little bit forward to see what she did. Then, he saw it.
In front of them, at least a mile away, was the most extraordinary thing he had ever seen. He had never thought that he would ever see these in his lifetime.
Ice Spikes.
[A/N: This might be the only chapter over 1,000 words and I'm laughing about it rn]
-
That is... it. Literally it. I don't even think I continue with the ice spikes at the beginning of the next book. Maybe I do. idk.
Anyway, 9439 words, not terrible for fifth grade me, I'll give her that.
I even have an "about the author" section in this book XD I'm not putting it here because obviously there's personal crap in there. I also wrote it when I was 11. So.
I'm disappointed in myself, but let's laugh at this whole series together, I'll post book 3-
