Chapter 48: And That's A Wrap!
Finally, it was time for the Romeo and Juliet's first kiss. And, literally, nobody in the audience was expecting it because these smarties never read or watched Romeo and Juliet. We're also hinting at Jisung's parents for completely different reasons.
Romeo (Hyunjin): May I have a dance with you, m'lady?
Juliet (Jisung): Why, certainly!
[Romeo takes Juliet along for a dance]
The Nurse (Chan): (sighs) Was I this horny, too, when I was a teen? God!
[Romeo and Juliet dance together, arms locked and moving seamlessly to the rhythm]
Romeo (Hyunjin): You know, m'lady, when I was born, I was cursed by a temperamental saint that I would die a terrible death. There was no revoking this curse, but a way to absolve it.
Juliet (Jisung): (intrigued) And what is it?
Romeo (Hyunjin): A kiss from a beautiful maiden. May I?
As practiced, Hyunjin went for a fake kiss to Jisung, just because it was a stage. However, Jisung actually kissed him, and the audience went bonkers. Jisung's parents gasped, feeling shocked and stunned and bewildered and other words the author is forgetting know right now.
As they parted, Hyunjin was genuinely out of breath, and this couldn't get gayer. However, the play still went on like:
Juliet (Jisung): You see, mister, that I, too, would be cursed if only you kiss me. Your curse shall remain on my lips lest I kiss you back.
The audience hooted louder this time as they kissed again, and Jisung was smooching the fuck out of Hyunjin on the stage. The Dean of the Literature department was about to cry.
Fuck hets.
Chan watched them from afar, and that dad instincts in him rose. He had to stop them. Meanwhile, Minho was genuinely enjoying the audience's reaction.
Mercutio (Minho): My man's smoooooth! He's got the rizz!
[Enter The Nurse]
The Nurse (Chan): Ay kiddo, your mum wants to speak to you.
Juliet (Jisung): Whatta cockblock!
Chan was low-key glad about being a cockblock, because he had noticed Jisung's parents in the audience. This is the first self-degrading man the author has seen, bUT SHE LOVES HIM AHHHHHHH-
The author is sorry for the minor disturbance, please get used to it (says she on the last chapter).
Skip to the final Act, because the author possibly cannot write five fucking acts again here. As the climax of the play happened, and Romeo fell unconscious in the tomb, Juliet woke up, and Jay, the Friar Lawrence, was still high.
[Juliet sees Romeo unconscious]
Juliet (Jisung): Is he...?
Friar Lawrence (Jay): Dead.
Juliet (Jisung): And I oop-
[Romeo stirs and gains consciousness]
Friar Lawrence (Jay): (screams) Ghost! Ghost! Am I still high!
Romeo (Hyunjin): Whaddaya mean, bro? I literally tripped and fainted.
Juliet (Jisung): (laughs candidly) Typical clumsy Romeo.
[They hear the commotion outside]
Friar Lawrence (Jay): Okay, so listen. The final plan is that I lie to them that the two of you died, and you two flee to Mantua.
Romeo (Hyunjin): I literally love you, Father!
Juliet (Jisung): He means that he's gay for you, daddy.
Friar Lawrence (Jay): Disgusting.
[Exit Friar Lawrence]
Juliet (Jisung): I love you, sweets!
Romeo (Hyunjin): I love you, too!
As Hyunjin and Jisung paused on the stage, the spotlight fell on Ava, who stepped up to the front and proclaimed her final dialogues:
Narrator (Ava): "And the Friar lured the two houses with a crafted story,
Sorrow arose along with the rising sun;
The Montagues and Capulets were deeply sorry,
To each other, and their daughter and their son.
What about the two young love birds?
What happened to them from this point on?
Romeo, he brought up sheeps in heards;
Juliet, she cooked for him at every single dawn.
This is a happy ending, as we all intended,
Even though like water, all the troubles floated;
But all's well that ends well, we pretended,
And bringing about a change in what Shakespeare quoted,
"For never was a story of lesser woe,
Than this of Juliet and her Romeo.""
Claps and roars of appreciation elicited from the audience, as they all rose from their seats to clap for the cast. Everyone involved in the play came forth onto the stage, and the lights were turned on in the entire auditorium. Felix, Seungmin, and Jeongin stood in the front, and in a coordinated motion, the entire cast and the makers bowed before the audience.
It was at that moment when Jisung noticed his parents, and they were... clapping? And hooting?
Bro genuinely wanted to cry.
---
"CHEERS!" the entire cast clinked their glasses of apple juice together (because only Chan could sneak in the "motivation" he had gotten many chapters ago), and they gulped it, celebrating the success of the play.
That was when someone knocked on the door, and Ava went to open it. She froze when she saw Mr and Mrs Han standing there, and Jisung almost dropped his glass in shock, "Mum? Dad?"
The two walked in and hugged him. Bring out all the awwwww's, readers!
One could see Hyunjin sobbing in the background at the wholesome moment, and Jisung's dad spoke, "It's okay, son. We accept you being homosexual."
"You can call him gay, he won't mind it," Minho piped in, and Ava nudged him in the gut, making him wince.
"My gay son!" Mrs Han cried proudly. Everyone melted at this awful acceptance. But you know what? Let them cook.
"Ah, this is great," Hyunjin spoke, "The book is ending on a happy note!"
"It's a happy ending, guys!" Felix chirped.
"No, wait!" Chan and Changbin cried out, "What about us?"
"Chan," Ava spoke, "I think the author wants you. She's delulu, also off her meds. You two would look good together!"
"And Changbin?" Minho kept a hand on his shoulder, rubbing it in consolation, "Here, have a pizza."
"So, how about now? Is it a happy ending yet?" Jeongin asked. Seungmin nodded, clapping his hands,
"And that's a wrap!"
THE END.
