You arrived at the ball 15 minutes later, Noctis helped you out of the car and offered you his arm again to which you hold on as you walked towards the breath taking decorated school building, the music was already hearable from the distance and the other students were gathered in a large group, you walked over the blue carpet to the main hall and entered it slowly, suddenly everyone turned around and looked at you 2, your heartbeat started rising and you felt uncomfortable immediately, Noctis noticed that your arm had gotten a little bit tighter around his and he knew that the attention was getting to you, he tried to make you comfortable again and released you arm only to slide his hand into yours and interweaved your fingers softly, you looked at him a little surprised but Noctis only smiled softly

"Shall we go?" he asked, you hummed in response and he started walking with you into the huge hall not bothering the others at all, you followed him and were still idolizing him for his self confidence, it was nothing new to you but it got you every time, he lead you to the side tables were drinks were served and stopped, you looked at him shyly

"Thank you... I'm sorry if you have to save me all the time... I'm just not used to this attention yet so it's makes me freeze up in fear every time I am stared at.." Noctis smiled weakly

"You don't have to apologize, if you have trouble with the others staring at us then don't look at them... focus on something else instead and blend them out..." you nodded

"I..I'll try.." he ordered a drink with the waitress and handed you a fruit bowl

"Thank you.." you said as you took the glass out of his hands

"I never had any of these before so I hope that they will taste as good as they look like" you chuckled

"Well... I am pretty sure that you will like it, it's the most famous drink that is served on birthday parties.. you can even buy it in a local grocery store" Noctis smiled

"Ok if you say so then I trust you" he took a small sip from he glass and tasted it

"Hmmm... it's delicious" you smirked

"See, just like I told you" he smirked back and you 2 kept the eye contact a few moments until Prompto and Ignis walked up to you with their dates

"Hey guys!!" Prompto waved as he approached you, you smiled and waved back

"Hey!!" Ignis gave you a warm smile as well and stopped with his date next to you and Noctis

"I see that you found just the right dress like I imagined you would" you blushed a little

"Thank you.. it was all thanks to Promptos help... he choose it" Prompto grinned at you

"You look stunning in that dress! Absolutely hot!" his words made you blush deeper and deeper you started to fan yourself some air because your cheeks started burning from so much heat, Ignis chuckled and so did Noctis

"Prompto stop, Shiro is going to explode  from all the love you give her" Ignis hit his shoulder

"Sorry, I just wanted to mention how great you look tonight Shiro" you smiled softly

"Thank you for these kind words, it means a lot to me" then the microphone cracked and everyone turned their attention towards the stage that was set up

"Ladies and gentlemen... welcome to our 22th winter ball, just like every year we have the tradition of choosing our winter king and his winter queen... by the end of the evening our judge will announce who was the best pair and deserves to wear the title of king and queen... we hope you enjoy the night and have a wonderful Christmas! ho ho ho!"

Wveryone clapped their hands and then the dj put some music on that drew the people to the dance floor, you were standing with your friends and chatted while you were drinking more of the fruit bowl, Noctis was always standing next to you and observed you secretly.. you did the same when he walked over to the counter and got some new glasses, you smiled every time when you lied eyes on him because you still could not believe that you were actually here with him... he turned around and noticed you looking at him, he waved you lightly with a hidden smile that you could not figure out, you blushed at the fact that you were spotted at spying on him but tried to keep it cool and waved back, he turned back around and you suddenly noticed how fast your heart was beating... it was even faster than usual... you turned around and excused yourself for a moment because you had to visit the bathroom, you left and searched for the ladies room on the ground floor, you walked in and locked yourself in the small cabin, you leaned against the wall and hold your heart as you tried to calm down, he made you so nervous with only a smile... you could not stop thinking about him... these feelings that leaked out of your heart were strong.. really strong.. and no matter how much you tried to keep them restrained it was just impossible for you to win against them... you were madly in love with him... you could not deny it anymore.. you knew that this would happen but you did not care because you wanted to make him happy no matter what... now you started to feel guilty because you started to think more about yourself than about Noctis.. it was him who's time was limited not yours.. he would be king one day and get married that robs his freedom not yours... that's why you promised him that you would spend as much time as possible with him.. you slowly opened your eyes again and removed your back from the wall and walked out of the cabin to the sink and washed your hands with some cold water, you looked at yourself in the mirror and gave yourself a weak smile before you walked back out to the others, Noctis turned around as he saw you and came towards you with a worried face

"Hey, are you feeling ok?" he asked, you nodded with a small smile

"Yeah, I'm fine, just needed to use the ladies room" he smiled and took your hand in his

"Come on, let's hit the dance floor!" he started pulling you along and into the crowd of people, he stopped and stepped closer to you resting his hands on your waist as he pulled you a little closer, you rested your hands on his shoulders and started to move along with him to the slow music, your eyes were looking into his the whole time, he was right.. focusing on something else really worked with the nervousness... he moved your body along with his as he lead your dance, you giggled as he started dancing in circles and you grabbed on to his shoulders more tightly, he released your waist then and took your hand into his and started spinning you around yourself one time, you almost lost balance but he caught your fall right in time and your back hit his chest as he locked you into his arms, he hold on to your hands while he moved with you like this, you were nervous now because there wasn't a single inch that separated you now from him... you could feel his hot breath tickle your neck... your heartbeat was dangerously rising again... Noctis pulled you away and let you spin around yourself one more time before he put you in the start position again, he watched your flushed face and smiled

"You're a good dancer.." he whispered in your ear which made you shiver all over..

"What are you saying... you are the one who leads me... I should compliment you what a good dancer you are.." Noctis chuckled

"I only do what I think is right... I never really paid any attention during my dance lessons back then.." you had to chuckle at his comment

"Well then you are just naturally talented... because to me you look like you know exactly what your doing" Noctis hummed whispering in your ear again

"Maybe I am.. and maybe I am not" he teased you but you did not mind at all, you kept dancing a while longer until your feet get tired, you took a seat on the stairs and watched the others dancing, Ignis and Prompto seemed to have fun their selves and it made both of you chuckle with joy

"Looks like they really enjoy each other" Noctis laughed, you nodded

"Yeah, looks like it, Prompto is head over heels for her"

"Oh yes he totally is! His face is red like this of a tomato" Noctis said and you giggled

"But it looks cute don't' you think? He really deserves to be happy" Noctis nodded

"Yeah he really does.. he did so much for me that I am truly happy for him that he is happy himself" his word constellation made you smile and you nodded

"You 2 went through a lot together right?" Noctis nodded

"Yeah... he was the first friend I made actually.. he was the first one who never saw me as a prince but as a real person... just like you.." you looked down

"That's because you are a real person... the prince is only a title nothing more... the insides of a person counts not his title" Noctis smiled

"Thank you.. that makes me very happy to hear that.." you then realized that you never really thanked him for what he did when you first met him at the pool.. you grabbed the fabric of your dress lightly as you started

"Hey Noct... there is something I have say..." he hummed

"Sure, what is it?"

"The first time we meet.. I realized that I never really thanked you for what you did..." Noctis shook his head

"That's fine, I never wanted you to thank me for tha-" you cut him off

"But I want to thank you!.. you did so much for me back then, no other person ever cared for me or looked at me the way you did... I was truly happy when you sit beside me in class and offered me your friendship... you have no idea how happy that made me... I am so grateful that you are sitting by my side now, I could not wish for more! When those girls made me go up to that springboard I was scared because I could not swim properly and when they tied my hands I thought that's it, I would drown in that pool without anyone helping me... but then you came and rescued me... I never knew who you were even after the girls addressed you as prince... when I found out I did not care because it was not your title that saved me it was you who did... I want to say it with honest words from the bottom of my heart and I want you to accept my gratefulness.. please.." Noctis looked at your face and he saw how serious you were, it must have been bothering you for a while now he figured and so he nodded

"Alright, I promise that I will accept your gratefulness with my very heart" you smiled weakly and swallowed one more time

"Thank you Noct, for saving my life and for being my friend, you made me the happiest person alive back then and still do it everyday because you allow me to stay by your side... you mean so much to me that I can't even put it in words.. I will never forget you, you will always stay the precious person who changed my life.." Noctis lips formed into a smile which you never seen before, he suddenly came closer and pulled you in a deep strong hug, your head rested on his shoulder as he closed his hands behind your back gently, he held you close to his heart and he was so happy to hear those words form you that he changed your life... he wanted to let you know just how much you changed his life to since he met you... he wanted to tell you so badly how much he loved you... and how much he wanted to be with you for the rest of his life.
