Hunger Games Revival + Plots

Hello!!

The last few months there has been a Hunger Games renaissance on Tik Tok and middle school me is absolutely thriving! In November I got hooked onto the idea of writing again (I'd have moments the last four years rethinking some of my teen wolf plots and whether I could continue them), and I actually got an idea for an Aemond Targaryen fic. It's still published on my profile called Siren's Song with the stunning woman Simone Ashley as my main character. However, not going to lie.... As much as I liked that idea for a solid month the Game of Thrones realm does not interest me enough like I thought it would so the chances that book will stay published or be updated is like....... 00000.1%

But I have rediscovered my love for The Hunger Games, rereading the books with my prefrontal lobe further developed so all the things I read as an 11 year old that went over my head actually sink in and also rewatching the movies and realizing how Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth stick out like sore thumbs. Don't get me wrong, Jennifer Lawrence did a great job acting wise, but she does look too old to play Katniss and I wish Katniss and Gale weren't whitewashed :/ Also the movies did not do justice to how funny Katniss actually was!! They made her seem so stale and brooding and she actually could be pretty funny. Josh Hutcherson did a great job but the movies also cut his funny personality short as well.

Okay anyway, I'm back in my Hunger Games era and I have started to reattempt my Finnick fic The Revenant (I did not write The Art of War, that's K's story). I've added more depth to my characters and I'm super excited about it.

However, one thing I've noticed I lack is I'm really good at developing these in depth characters but my world building could definitely do some work. I read a Hunger Games stand-alone fic called Iron and let me tell you, that was amazing! Honestly in my brain everything the author wrote about District 6 and what life was like is canon lol. Reading her story made me realize I really need to work on the setting aspect, because even tho the character is important of course, so is building a world that makes sense.

Part of my problem too is that District 12 is actually so unlike the other Districts, and the others are so much bigger, so using District 12 knowledge to build a District isn't the best. Like when I started writing Yelena's story, I didn't even consider how big District 8 actually is, so that's some stuff I gotta work on. I've also caught myself getting so intertwined with her cousin Chenille's storyline that she actually seems cooler and more useful than Yelena and I need to level the playing field again lol because Yelena is the main character!!! Also, Rudy is going to be our grumpy and unintentionally funny fave!

Then here I am spreading my wings and coming up with an OC x OC fic called Die For You, which mostly takes place in Catching Fire. Sage (Sofia Carson) is from District Ten, which has been so fun to world build (District Two not so much) and her and Ptolemus actually bounce off each other really well. I'm so excited for you to see these two during the Quell being all protective over each other 🥲 Ptolemus does not mess with his cool gf Sage!!!!

Here is another aesthetic I made for him!! He actually loves pottery as well as taking out his aggression on punching bags!! Coping strategies!!!

And here's Sage, my animal loving cutie!! She loves her cow Petunia and her horse Sunshine. Yeehaw!

But anyway, I'm also posting because not only has my mind spiraled to come up with two Hunger Games plots that take place during the actual books/movies, but now I want to write not one, not two, but at least four stand-alone Hunger Games books about numerous different tributes in their different Games!!!!!

Like what!!!!!

I'm so excited for it but I'm also like uh... do you remember what happened the last time you put too much on your plate and had like 6 stories all in the same fandom going on at once???

Part of why I stopped writing was because I was just so tired of Teen Wolf. I felt like I had written the same scenes over and over again just slightly different based on my plot/character and it was so redundant. It started to feel like a chore. And I felt like all my writing, my characters, became very repetitive.

I do think now that I'm trying out third person (definitely out of my comfort zone) that could help spark my interest. Like for Die for You, third person is very convenient!! It will definitely switch back and forth between Sage and Ptolemus to paint a perfect picture.

I just hope I don't lose all my inspiration for my stories and characters again, because it does make me sad to look at my old Teen Wolf stories and remember how cool everything actually was supposed to be, I just couldn't get excited to actually write for them anymore.

Currently I'm healing from surgery so I do have a lot of time on my hands, but the key is also having inspiration as well!!

Anyway, I just wanted to publish the ideas I'm working with as well as some of the graphics I've made for these stories and their characters. That's the other thing! I figured out how to make covers with an iPad and procreate and that's been pretty fun. Are they amazing??? Eh not really but they're better than what I was doing on my iPhone I think!

So without further of do, here are my stand-alone Hunger Games ideas

Sting Like a Bee

Lovie Simone as Birdie Dupree
District 11

So this is my girl Birdie, and I'm so excited for her and her Games! I first just came up with her name, thinking Birdie would be a fun Hunger Games name for a tribute of one of the more rural Districts.

Birdie is 17 and from District 11, particularly the area that resembles what we know as Louisiana. I was going to have that she has an older brother named Abel, who is engaged, and her mom, dad, brother, uncle and aunt live in a small house by the bayou.

The area that they live in is responsible for multiple things, but rice fields are the most common. Birdie's mom, dad and aunt work in the rice fields, while her uncle and Abel fish for crawfish and hunt alligators (the skins for Capitol fashion).

Despite her mother's wishes, Birdie doesn't work in the rice fields but actually works with her uncle and brother on the boats. She's a good shot with a bow and arrow, and helps them hunt down the alligators. The PeaceKeepers won't give the people guns to use while hunting them, so they have to use arrows and spears. This gives Birdie a pretty good chance to survive in her Games!

Birdie is kind and a bit of a free spirit. She can be a sort of know it all, and because she has a bit more freedom than those who live further north in her District, she can be a daredevil.

She and a boy that works on the farms up North named Briar (or maybe Calix, still working on the name) are reaped alongside each other for the 60th Hunger Games.

Here is the cover I made for her story! I hope I actually get to write for her as I develop her and her story even more.

Cut Like a Diamond

Maia Reficco as Blaze Rosales
District 1

This is Blaze!! Oh Blaze, she's a messy one. Cool, but messy! I also imagine her as having her dark hair but two blonde money pieces to frame her face like Maia had for a bit. Just screams District 1 to me.

So Blaze is from District 1, and she is the daughter of some poorer Ruby miners, so her family does not have as powerful of a reputation as other families. She has an older sister who she feels very competitive with. Her and her sister are in the Academy for the Hunger Games, and Blaze is adamant about being selected. She wants to be the best of the best, and is quite the perfectionist. She also really likes to be the one in control, and she cares a lot about how people perceive her.

Anyway, she is selected to volunteer for the Games, something she is ecstatic for, as she feels she's defied the odds since she comes from a lower income family in the snobby District 1. Her sister and parents are actually petrified for her because they understand the depth of it all. Blaze assumes her sister is just jealous rather than worried for her well-being. Her weapon of choice is an ax.

So Blaze goes to the Games, and as it gets nearer, she actually realizes the weight of everything and what is to come in the next few days. She is first with the Careers, but after the Bloodbath and she kills someone, she realizes she isn't cut out for this. She hyperventilates and pukes, disturbed, petrified and filled with guilt.

She ends up splitting up from the Careers, is wounded, and expects to die, when another tribute actually helps her. Blaze changes her whole stance on the Games, trying to survive, but not actually seeking anyone out like a typical Career. She allies herself with the other tribute who saved her.

Untitled

Madelyn Cline as Cove Carraway
District 4

This is my girl Cove, and she is from District 4! She is in the 66th Hunger Games and she is mentored by Finnick while he's literally younger than her, so she totally thinks she's screwed.

Cove is a shellfish diver with her neighbor because she is a strong swimmer, able to hold her breath for a long time, and she's small enough to fit in tiny cramped spaces to get all the fish. Her weapon in the Games is a spear!

Still working on the basis of her character, but I really like the idea of writing about a tribute that Finnick had to mentor right after winning his Games while still being younger than his tribute lol.

I'm probably going to make this a series of sorts, so all the titles will sound similar, Sting Like a Bee, Cut Like a Diamond, blah blah something cool.

Untitled

Paulina Chávez as Merle Mendoza
District 10 or 7?

Still trying to decide what district I'll have her be from! I love world building for District 10 and would love to write about another character from there, but I am afraid Merle and Sage will be too similar and they'll start to run together.

But world building for District 7 sounds agonizing as well as intriguing so I really just can't decide. Her first name Merle does work best with District 10, as it is a type of coloring on a dog's fur. However, in French it can also mean blackbird so I could just ignore that and have her still be from 7.

And then I also really want to write about a tribute from one of the more urban districts played by Charithra Chandran but do I really have time for this??? Probably not

So these are my ideas! I'd love to hear what you think :) I'm hoping to bounce off some ideas as these are still in the works to potentially be published and written :)

Thanks for listening to my rambling!
