Part 11
We entered the bouquet hall which was decorated for the special occasion. The decorations were like the garden when Edward proposed to me, filled with some more of my favorite flowers and plants. The wisteria was hanging down from the ceiling and the walls were covered in ivy. The columns had rose vines climbing up and the lights in the room where more outstanding than any other lights I had seen before. I marveled in the beautiful room and said to Charles, ''Isn't this just wonderful?"
"Yes, I suppose," Charles replied half-heartedly.
We continued to walk further into the bouquet hall and eventually found Edward. We both bowed and said hello. He then asked me, "Elizabeth, what do you think of the decorations?"
"They're absolutely breathtaking!"
"I'm glad you think so. I had everything specially done for you. I hope you two have fun tonight and have a wonderful marriage."
"Thank you, " Charles and I both said. Charles was holding onto my waist even tighter now as if he were afraid someone would take me away from him. We found my parents and walked over there. The whole time I wasn't able to move unless it was with him. He wouldn't release me, like he was afraid to lose me.
We met up with my family, who were wondering why I was with Charles instead of Edward. My father was quite displeased and pulled me aside to say, "Elizabeth, you are engaged to Edward not Charles. Why are you walking around with Charles with his arm around your waist? This engagement party is for you and Edward, you should with Edward. So go over there and greet everyone with him so that they may know who you are."
"Father, I'm…well the thing is…you're right, I should be over by Edward. I don't know what I was thinking, I shall go over there now."
"Wonderful! Don't forget to smile when greeting people."
I walked over to Edward and stood right next to him with my head lowered. I was trying to keep the tears in. I didn't want anyone to see me cry and ask what's wrong. We should have just hid us being together until the wedding. I could have told my father, but he wouldn't understand and it wouldn't do any good. I took a deep breath in, lifted my head, and smiled to greet people. Edward noticed my expression was fake and the somber expression from just before.
Edward stood up in front of me with his hand out and asked, "Would you like to dance?"
I took his hand and he lead me to the center of the room. Everyone else cleared a path and made a circle around up big enough for us to dance in. The music started to play and he pulled me in close. We started to waltz which I haven't done in a while, but he didn't care and helped me through it.
During the dance, he asked me, "Are you okay?"
"Yes, I'm fine," I said, but he didn't believe me.
"Okay, now for the truth. Elizabeth, are you okay?"
"Alright, I'm not."
"You seemed to be having a great time with Charles, what happened?"
"My father. He was upset, since he still thinks you and I are…"
"Oh, I see. I could talk to him if you want."
"I don't know if that would do any good. He would probably still be mad at me."
"That's true. I'm sorry tonight isn't going the way you wanted it to."
"It's okay. It's not your fault."
"I know, but I still feel bad."
"Well I don't think you could really do anything to cheer me up."
The music stopped and so did we. He held onto my waist for just a while longer. I said, "Thank you for the dance and the decorations are marvelous."
"Do you want to sneak out of here?" Edward whispered in my ear just before letting me go.
"Is that even possible?"
''Of course it is, I'm the king."
"It looks like there's a few more people we have to greet first."
"Well then let's go greet them, and then we can leave. Shall we?" he said, holding out his hand for me again. I laughed and placed my hand in his. We walked over to were the people stood and took a moment to collect ourselves before saying, "Hello."
