*CHAPTER 46*
MIA
As I moved around the bed, I felt the sting in my back. Another scar added to the three I already have.
I was by myself. Everyone left about an hour ago to let me rest. I asked for Noah, but he still has not come. It got me worrying. I hope he was okay. I wonder how he was dealing with things with what has been going on.
At that moment it dawned on me...Noah and I are married. We were eternally and public ally joined as one. The thought eased my nervousness. I am his and he is mine. Noah is my husband now. It have me pride knowing he's my mate. He is so strong. I can't wait to start a family with him. He would be such a good father.
The door opened and in walked my mate. I smiles weakly at him.
"Hey," I said with the strength I have.
He crouched beside my bed an faced me. "Hey love, how you holding up?" He whispered.
I took a deep breath and winced at the slight stung again, "I'm alive and healing, that's all that matters."
He nods his head, "Good. I'm glad."
I could see his mind was else where. His eyes drifting off as I could sense the clogs turning in that mind Of his, "What is it Noah? What's wrong?"
He clinched his jaw and closed his eyes tightly as if he was struggling with a mighty battle within himself.
I stretched my weak hand out and cupped his face. He leaned into it. I could feel he was really hot to the touch, "You can tell me Noah. Please what's wrong?"
"Something happened while Xander was fixing you up." He whispered deeply.
I nodded my head, letting him know that I was listening.
He took a deep breath and looked at me in the eyes, "He got Carrow to do a search spell on your body to make sure there were no other injuries they didn't know about."
"And...everything was okay?" I asked hesitantly.
He was silent for a minute. I could see the struggle of getting his words out like he didn't want to say it. "You didn't have any other injuries...but...they found...something."
He was silent again. He looked down and scrunched his brows together. He was blinking a lot like he was trying in his best efforts to keep tears at bay. His breathing was slightly faster. Then he raised his head and looked at me straight in the eye, "Mia, you were pregnant."
I felt the blood running down my face and out my body. I felt my heart explode. I felt my lungs shrivel, making it hard to breathe. "Were?" I whispered shakily.
Noah took a hold of my hand, "Your wounds were too great. It would have killed the pup instantly. There was no chance of survival."
I was pregnant, I was going to be a mother. Noah was going to be a father. But not anymore. My child, my baby was killed. I closed my eyes and felt the poisonous pain flow through every vein in my body. Everything hurt. I felt like I was bleeding but I wasn't. "My baby's dead," I whisper to myself. I didn't scream, I had no outburst of emotions. It was too painful for that. And I think that's the worst sort of pain...the kind that can't be shown to express the full severity of what you are feeling. My eyes fill with tears and they silently fall down my cheeks. I look at the blurred figure of Noah and see that my pain was reflecting his as well.
Noah leaned in and laid his forehead against my own.
"My baby," I whispered shakily. My body shook from the deep breaths I released. I could see Noah was struggling to keep it together. He held me close to him as I released my sorrow and grief.
We were both silent for a long time. No words were needed to be said because we already understood what we were both feeling. We just had to endure the pain.
"If it was a boy...I would have named him Jonah. If it was a girl...I would have named her Alexandria." I whispered to my mate.
I felt Noah squeeze my hand, "Those are beautiful names, love."
It was silent again. I guess you can't exactly have a flowing conversation when you hear news like that.
"It's my fault." I admitted
Noah looked at me wide-eyed, "Don't you dare do that. You did nothing at all! You could have done nothing to keep this from happening."
I moved back and said, "It is my fault! If I had noticed the bastard earlier the warriors could have caught him! And my baby would be alive!"
It became silent. But I ended up breaking down again. "My heart hurts Noah." I whimpered, "As a mother...how can I not blame myself."
He crouched back down and cupped my face, "Because there was nothing you could have done. You can't always think about 'what ifs' or else you won't ever move on."
Suddenly we heard a deep and shaking rumble. It felt as if the earth cracked open in two from the vibrations of the ancient sounds. I felt my heart pick up pace. My breath becomes shallow because, in an instant, I knew what it was, "War drums." I whispered.
The door to the bedroom burst open and it was filled with Eddie, "Noah we need you!"
Noah stood to his full height, "What's wrong."
Eddie was breathless as he said, "The rogue attack that we just had was just a scout. Their whole army is marching towards us as we speak. they've already cross our borders. All women and children are to be in the safety bunkers."
Without word, Noah goes into action. He bends down and digs his arms under my body, cautious of the wound. He lifts me up. I winced in pain, "Noah-"
"Ssshhh" he comforted, "Don't speak, you need your strength. I'm taking you to the bunkers."
He walked out of the room carrying me. He turns to Eddie and said, "Keep watch while I walk, they could already be in the pack area." Eddie nodded his head and was on high alert as we silently walked down the stairs.
"Noah-"
"Be quiet Mia, not now." Noah growled. I could see he was stressed and was concentrating on getting me to safety. So I stayed quiet for his sake.
We walked outside, but we didn't walk straight away. Both of the males were scouting the areas with their eyes and made sure everything was good.
"Are all the scouts dead?" Noah asked quietly.
Eddie shook his head.
We cautiously went out into the open. I felt scared. I mean imagine being in my situation. I was too wounded to defend myself. I was completely relying on Noah right now...and I was afraid.
I tried to cuddled closer to my mate. He pulled me tighter to his body. He leaned in and whispered in my ear, "Everything is going to be okay Mia...you have to trust me."
I nodded my head, "I trust you Noah."
"I have a scent." Eddie said. we stopped walking and was silent. Anything could happen right now.
Eddie suddenly looked at us with wide-eyes, "RUN!" He roared. Two wolves jumped from the roofs of one of the houses.
Eddie growled and snarled at them, "Come on you sons of bitches!" He ripped his top open and shifted into a wolf. Eddie against two rogues.
"Eddie!" I said in concern. Noah held me tighter and sprinted. "Wait! what about Eddie!" I screamed.
"He's fine! I have to get you to safety!" He sprinted towards the opposite side of the woods. The bunker doors were open, waiting for me. Noah stopped and we looked down. All the women and children were huddled down there.
Noah went down the stairs, still carrying me. I was shocked to see that inside the bunker was what was the size of a giant warehouse. There was a vacant bed. Noah laid me down on it gently.
"I have to go," Noah said. He stood up and was about to leave, till I grabbed his hand, "WAIT!" I shouted. He looked back down at me.
"I love you, Noah."
His alert eyes softened. He bent down and cupped my face, "And I love you, Mia. Wait for me, yeah?"
I nodded my head. Noah leaned in and kissed me gently. When I opened my eyes, he was already gone.
NOAH
I burst into Xander's office. All of the main warriors were there, getting ready for battle.
Xander looked at me and nodded, "Good, you're here. Mia safe?"
I nodded my head. "How much time do we have?" I asked.
"Around fifteen minutes till they get here," Soul said.
I felt the burning rage slowly simmer inside of me. Xander frowned at me, "What's wrong Noah? Your eyes...they're glowing bright electric blue."
I snarled viciously, "I'm going to kill the motherfucker who not only hurt my mate but murdered my child."
Xander held my shoulder and leaned in and said, "Good...and we're all going to help you do that."
