*CHAPTER 11*
MIA
He has a son! How could no one even tell me this! Here I thought he was just a widower, but NO! He has a son! A SON!
"You...you have a son?" I stuttered
Noah rolls his eyes, "Yes I have a son."
"I never knew you even had one." I say as if I had the right to know.
"Wasn't really any of your business." He said.
"Of course it's not." I mentally slap myself again. You have no claim on Noah. Why am I acting this way?
"So are you okay with babysitting?" Lizzy asked.
I nodded my head slowly, "Sure, I will. Ummm...w-where is he?"
Noah walks to the door, "I'll lead you to him."
I follow him down the stairs and out the front door. I close my eyes quickly when the bright light of the day hits me. I squint for a couple of seconds before everything looks normal again. He leads me behind the mansion of a house and into the garden. Everything is so beautiful. There are so many types of flowers and roses here. Big trees that look as old and wise as time itself. They were giant. More so than normal trees. They were planted in very random areas of the garden, making it look slightly chaotic.
There was one particular tree that caught my eye. It was bigger than the other. More dark green than the normal light forest green. It looked so ancient. As we walked near it, I could begin to see all of its network of branches. It looked like a little mini city in there. My eyes were drawn to the attention of movement. A beautiful brown haired little boy, sitting on the tree talking to himself.
"Kieth! Come down here, I want you to meet somebody!" Noah shouted. Kieth looked down and saw us. He began to obey what his father commanded.
"Why is he here alone? Isn't it dangerous?" I asked.
Noah shakes his head, "He's an adventurous little kid. He can handle things like this...besides, he doesn't exactly have that many friends. He only hangs out with Xavier, Xander's son."
My heart broke a little. It's horrible when you see kids doing things all alone because they felt as if they couldn't fit in or society wouldn't accept them. When Keith came down, he stood up straight, facing his father, "Father," he bowed his head.
Noah returned the gesture, "Kieth, this is Mia, she is going to take care of you from now on."
Kieth frowns, "Why? what's going on?"
"There has been some suspicion from some rogues we want to keep an eye on. Until we are confident that our pack is safe, I want you to be around Mia the whole time. Do you understand?"
I frown at Noah and say, "He's your son Noah, not a soldier." Noah turns to me and frowns, "He is me and my wife's son...not yours. You're just his nanny. You are in no position to even be talking to me, let alone talking to me like that. Have you forgotten that I am the beta of one of the most powerful packs in the world?"
I felt my feeling break a little from what he said, but my anger outweighed that. I will not let him belittle me with his words. I step forward and say, "Have you forgotten that I am the one who saved your life? Without me, you would be dead by now, that means that you owe me your whole life," I look at him up and down, "Maybe I should have just left you for dead?" I whispered to him.
Noah stares at me with a storm in his eyes, "You should have Mia. You take Kieth for the day, I'll fetch for him at around 7." He stomps past me and went inside, slamming the door behind him. I flinch from the sound. I close my eyes and take a deep breath.
"No one ever talks to my father like that except the Alpha probably." I look down at the little boy.
"I'm sorry you had to see that, Kieth," I sigh, "It wasn't my intention to start something like that in front of you. It was wrong of me."
He shrugs, "I've seen my dad worse. Especially during the full moon."
I frown in interest, "What happens during the full moon?"
Kieth looks out into the distance as if he is being haunted by a memory, "He's different. He is not himself."
I nod. I didn't want to push. I'm going to let him set the pace, "So what do you want to do huh? We can do anything!"
Keith looks around, thinking. Then his face brightens up. "Let's play zombie apocalypse on my Xbox!"
I frown, "Isn't that too scary? How old are you?"
He scowls at me, "I am 7 and a half thank you very much! I think you underestimate what I can handle, miss Mia." He grabs my hand walks towards the house. I smile, kids always think they're so old.
NOAH
She is so annoying! I hate how she can get under my skin! I hate it! I am sitting in my office at the moment and was trying to search into this whole rogue incident. I get up from my chair and walk around. I rub my face down with my hands and sigh. I can't seem to get her out of my head. It's like she is consuming me. I Hate it! I hate it so much!
But how can I be so affected by her? She was a no one I hardly remember from the cottage. It doesn't make sense. And the only conclusion that I can think of is the impossible one. No one was supposed to be made for me. She isn't even supposed to exist. I am the last one...the last! The only way for it to even be possible is if she had some as well. But that can't be either because they are extinct. So why do I have these feelings?
I sit back down on my chair when the door opens. A little girl pops through. Lily. She is Eddie and Zapora's first daughter. She is around about three years old. She comes in smiling. "Hello, Uncle!" I couldn't help but let the tiniest of my smiles show. She shuts the door behind her and walks up to the desk.
"What're you doin, love?"
Her tanned face smiles shyly. She has always been the quiet and gentle one of the family. She never really spoke much, just observed and listened. I secretly liked her the best. I can relate to her quietness the most. And I think I'm her favourite uncle, which makes me stand a little taller.
"All the kids were playing a game, b-but I c-can't because they said I was t-t-too l-l-l-little." She also suffers from stuttering, which is partly the reason why she stays quiet. I pick her up and sit her on my lap.
"Well, you know what, love? Who cares. You'd probably beat them all anyways."
This makes her look down and smile, "Really?" I nod my head.
Her suddenly pulled down into a frown, "They w-w-were also mean to -m-m-m..." She couldn't get the last word out, so she took a deep breath and tried again, "me."
"They were mean to you? How?"
"T-t-they t-t-told me I t-t-t-talk f-f-f-f-funny."
My blood started to boil. Kids can be right foul gits, you know? If I were still a kid, I'd kick all of their bloody asses and see who laughs?
"You don't talk funny, love. Your voice is a power you need to keep training so then you'll get stronger. It will go away as you get older."
"H-h-how d-d-do y-y-you know?"
"Because I used to speak like that when I was your age, but my mother used to teach me a little trick that helped me to control it. Do you want me to teach you?"
Her eyes brighten and she nods her head fast.
I wink at her and chuckle, "Alright, love, let's begin."
MIA
"That is not fair! You're seven! How can you beat me in an Xbox game?"
Kieth just chuckles and shakes his shoulders. "I am just really really good."
I shake my head and laugh, "Oh Kieth!" I sigh. I turn off the game and turn to him, "What would you like to do now?"
He tilts his head and thinks for a bit, "I know! Come!" He grabs my hand, "it is night time and I have to show you something!"
He pulls me towards the door, down the hall and stairs then out the door. We ran towards the garden and to the one big tree. Kieth looked at me and smiled, "Climb!" He grabbed a branch and pulled himself up. I looked up at him and sighed.
"Kill me." I mumbled. But I followed. Branch after branch I felt myself getting higher and higher till we reached the very top. When we both stood up and our bodies popped out of the highest point of the tree. The view was breathtaking. Stars everywhere. more than what I've ever seen before. "This is amazing Kieth!" I look down at him, "You come up here every night?"
He nods, "Most nights. It makes me feel close to mummy." I smiled. He really is a good kid. But a good kid who misses his mother.
"You don't have to do this to feel close to your mother Kieth. She is always with you where ever you go."
He looks up at me, "Really?"
I nod, "Yup. She is always going to be here," I place my hand over his heart, "Her home, is your heart, Kieth. There is always going to be a part of her in you."
He smiles up at me, with his eyes twinkling. What warms my heart the most though, was the moment he hugged me. And he stayed like that for a long time. He had his small arms around my hips and his head against my stomach. For just a moment, I felt like I was his mother in a way.
"Can you tell me a story?" He asks.
"What kind?"
"A true story."
"Okay, let's sit down."
We found a big branch where we both rested.
"Okay, I'll tell you a story that my father would tell me as a little girl. It was always one of my favourites."
Kieth's face was filled with excitement.
"Once upon a time, there was a werewolf, the first of his kind. You already know the order of the wolf, don't you?" I and Kieth both said at the same, "Alpha, Beta, Omega."
"Very good Kieth!" I smiled. He puffed his chest as if he was the smartest guy in the world. I internally laugh. Definitely Noah's son."
"But, what no one knew was that there was a fourth one. One that is even above the alpha. The Greek mythology called him many names, like the bearer of death, Hades's dog..."
"Was he a Lycan?" Kieth asked.
"Sort of...he was more powerful than a Lycan alpha."
Kieth's eyes widen, "What was he called then?"
I moved a little closer and whispered, "He was called..." I moved a little closer
"The Hellhound."
