"I don't know why I agree to this." She told herself as a feeling of fear crept up her spine as she was sneaking in the middle of the night to her destination.

The SM Town building was in the middle of town--along with several other skyscrapers belonging to important businesses, the Pledis Entertainment building wasn't too far off from there. But their meeting needed to be on neutral ground for the two of them. Somewhere no one would see them--or recognize them. It was the reason she always found herself in an abandoned parking lot at the edge of town, the secret twists and turns of a park's hiking trail, or a cheap motel whenever she wanted to see him. It was the only way they could be together.

Both of them were bound by their careers, bound by their contracts. They had to remain loyal to the agencies that had given them everything--fame and a career they could be proud of, but it was hard.

Oh, it was hard.

Never associate yourself with them, they were told from the first moment that they became trainees in their respective agencies. They are the enemy. The same words told to them through different people, but it was all the same.

SM Entertainment and Pledis absolutely hated each other. That was a fact.

SM had been around longer than Pledis, but when Pledis started out, it was clear that the rivalry between the two agencies would be ruthless. And it was. But the rivalry was most famously reflected in the two agencies' most popular groups of the moment. Where it had once been a rivalry between Super Junior of SM Entertainment and Roser-Lo of Pledis, it was now a deep hatred between SM Entertainment's EXO and Pledis Entertainment's Baby Lips. Both groups with twelve members, one made up of all-boys, and one made up of all-girls. Both debuted within the same year. Both with members within the same age group. Both pushed by their managers to be the best in Korea.

It was one interview that had started it all--the new wave of fierce rivalry between the two agencies, a fresh set of hatred for the media to cover. There hadn't even been a year of peace when the competition began with the new generation of idols. One sentence that pitted both groups against each other and launched a years long war in the kpop industry--permanently. One sentence confidently pronounced by the maknae of the group who had been encouraged to throw some banter--or shade--at the male group to catch them some media attention to launch their career a step quicker than it was already going. In reality, it had been the group's leader--Park Sarang, otherwise known as Saris--who had been encouraged to speak about the boy group. But the youngest of them had been the one to express her opinion instead.

"So, what do you girls think about SM Entertainment's EXO?" The MC asked the twelve girls seated around him. It had been just a few months after their debut that they had been invited to be on a television program after giving their first introduction concert, and it was the perfect way to get themselves noticed by the general public. The MC added with a grin, finding the situation of the two bands to be entertaining. "Everyone has mentioned how both your group and theirs are the opposite gender versions of each other." The two groups were so similar in their upbringing as trainees, and so many other aspects that it was common for people to compare them to each other, just like they had done with Super Junior and Roser-Lo, driving them into a rivalry that seemed to have no end. The girls of Baby Lips were done with all the comparisons.

"Well--" Saris began with some hesitance in her tone, but Baby Lips' maknae--Park Mae known as Sunshine, or Sunny--let a snorting noise escape from her lips in distaste for the mentioned group.

With the attention now on her, she was encouraged to speak.

"We don't think anything about them," She said that day, nose in the air, full of pride. It was common for this type of emotion from Pledis idols when it came to speaking about their long standing rival agency. From the moment they became trainees in the system, they were taught to dislike--to loathe--what they saw as the enemy. In their case, the enemy was SM Entertainment, and in Baby Lips' case, EXO was their enemy. Rivals in the industry. "We don't keep up with mediocre circus acts." The then eighteen year old finished.

Those words would follow the girl group through their entire career and would go on to be one of the most watched videos on the internet. But EXO hadn't just sat there and accepted the thoughtless comments.

Almost immediately, they had been invited to a show to discuss what they thought about the upcoming girl group named Baby Lips

"Recently in an interview, the girl group Baby Lips slammed EXO on a show for idols, calling you a mediocre circus act." The MC read a bit of the quote off his cue card. Looking up from his cards at the twelve boys seated around him, he asked, "What do you think about their harsh words against you? There have been many comparisons about the two groups since your debuts, and Baby Lips seems to be trying to steer away from that."

The boy group was quiet for a moment. It was hard to retaliate when the aggressor was a group of girls. They knew they needed to get back at them, while not seeming like they were jerks.

When someone finally spoke up, it was Zhang Yixing--EXO's Lay--his eyebrows furrowed in something of a confusion. "Sorry, but who even is Baby Lips?" He asked in what was a perfectly well acted response, evoking an ooh from everyone in the audience, as well as his group mates and the MC. He knew exactly who they were. EXO had heard the comparisons just the same as the Pledis girl group, but they had been told to avoid giving them importance, because it was probably what they wanted.

Now Mae walked the streets in the middle of the night after parking her car on a nearby street and going the rest of the way on foot. Their meeting place for that night was a spot under a bridge that passed over the Han River. It was a nicely secluded and private place for their rendezvous

"And I shouldn't have worn heels." She huffed in annoyance at herself as she made her way along the small path the ran parallel to the river. The path was decorated with stones, and heels weren't apt for that type of road.

She finally reached the agreed upon place after a few minutes of struggling to walk along the path. She waited, near a thick pillar which supported the bridge above, hidden in the shadows.

She waited a few minutes for him, confident that he would show up, but as time ticked by, she was starting to think that it hadn't been the best idea to meet up with him at three in the morning. For one, he was always there before she would arrive, and this time she had gotten there before him. It was what probably explained why she was being verbally abused by her group's leader over the phone.

"Sun, where the hell are you?" Saris hissed over the phone, her tone laced every bit with annoyance as well as worry. Mae always thought it ironic that she--the group's maknae--had been paired with the leader of the group as a dorm partner.

Saris was the very thing that was expected of any leader. Responsible. She always made sure to look after the other girls, especially the youngest of them.

Mae sighed into the phone. "I couldn't sleep, so I went out for some fresh air."

"At three in the morning? Are you out of your mind?" Saris questioned. Her tone was in between freaking out, and trying to keep calm. In between a yell and a whisper. She didn't want to be too loud and wake the girls in the other rooms on their floor at the Pledis housing building.

The maknae of Baby Lips felt a shiver run down her spine as a gust of wind shook her. She replied, "Don't worry. I'll just be out for a little while. Go back to sleep."

She was about to hit end call when she heard Saris ask the curious question. "How did you manage to leave the building without the security guards in the lobby seeing you?" At Pledis Entertainment, the idols were sometimes allowed to go out and have fun, but they had a curfew. Everyone who was out at night, needed to be back in the dorm building by two in the morning. That was when they would lock the front doors of the building until five in the morning.

Mae smiled to herself. "For that, you need mad ninja skills." She said, but in reality she had made friends with a woman who was part of the cleaning staff and had the night shift. She was the one who helped her sneak out using the service exits for the cleaning staff.

"Fine." Saris replied with a playful roll of her eyes, though Mae couldn't see her through the phone. "But hurry back, or I'm going to need to go out and get you."

"Alright, I'll let you know when I return." Sun assured her unnie.

She hit the end button and stuffed her phone into her purse. While Saris was probably imagining a pajama clad Sun going for a night walk in order to get some fresh air, Sun was actually dressed to her best. A skin tight little black dress clung to her small curves and the heels on her feet were difficult to walk in, but she was prepared for her secret meeting.

Suddenly, she was taken by surprise when an arm grabbed her around the waist roughly from behind her, while a hand clamped over her mouth with some force. Her eyes widened in fear and she let out a shriek that was muffled by her attacker.

Sun's heart stopped while thoughts raced in her mind that she would possibly be living her final moments on earth.
