Chapter {7}
Peyton P.O.V.
We talk for a long time. About pets, school, flowers, and everything else on Earth. I feel happy here. I look at my watch, it's 10:00 at night. I can't believe how long we've been talking. I yawn.
"I think I'm going to head off to sleep." I say.
Ariana nods and stands up. "Ow!" She says falling back down. She grits her teeth and rubs her ankle. "I think it got worse."
I rush over. "What was I thinking? Let's find something to wrap it in."
I pick up Ariana and look around. "I know there's a small nurse room downstairs in the basement. You wouldn't mind me taking you down there?"
She looks down at the floor. "I'm sorry to out you through all this trouble. I'll do whatever you think is best."
I shrug. "Don't worry about it. We're partners right?"
We walk down the first flight of stairs to the main floor. Then we go down the small staircase to the basement. As I walk down the rickety steps Ariana grips me tighter. In the basement it is pitch dark and I see Ariana close her eyes. I set her down and she holds on to my shoulder. Then I see an unlight match and a candle. Ari sits on the bottom step and I walk around the whole basement lighting all the candles. When I come back Ariana smiles.
"Thank you." She says.
I pick her up. "You're welcome."
We walk into a room a little way down the hall, which I have already lightened. I starting setting Ariana on a table in the center of the room. The second her leg touches the metal table she says:
"Ah!"
I looked her. "Are you alright?"
She laughs. "The table is freezing!"
I laugh too. "Okay one second."
I put her down so she is just sitting not laying on the table. I find an emergency blanket in the cupboard and set it on the table all laid out.
"There you go princess." I say.
"Hey!" She playfully smacks me as she lays down. "Thanks." She laughs.
I look around the room for a bandage of some kind, to keep the bone in place. Without a splint it will be kept in the wrong place, but it still helps. I look over at Ari, she's turned over and falling asleep.
"Oh no you don't!" I call and flip her over. "I need to help you."
She yawns. "Can you help me faster I'm falling asleep." She jokes.
I find a kit with a long roll of beige bandage. I walk over to her and take her shoe and sock off.
"This should do it." I say as Ari sits up to watch.
I wrap the bandage delicately but tight around her ankle being sure I get it right I wrap it slowly. This time Ari isn't complaining about how slow I am. When I finish I look at her, and she looks at me. I lean in and somehow her lips find mine as if is was meant to be. We pull back from the kiss and I can't stop staring at those hazel eyes.
"Thanks." She says.
"Anytime."
She gives me a puzzled look.
"The ankle! I'd fix your ankle anytime."
She laughs. "Hey I'd kiss you again too."
"Lucky you." I say leaning in.
She stops me by putting her hand on my chest. "Maybe another time Buster." She kisses my cheek and smirks.
I scoop her up with the blanket. "Comfortable?" I ask.
She rolls her eyes. "Whatever."
