Chapter 4: A Hopeless Case

It actually proved to be very hard to fix the machine.

It remined me of my dream last night. Those figures that had pushed me into the portal. It really annoyed me that I couldn't place the person's voice. It was someone I knew, but who...

I was so distracted, I didn't notice a peice of scrap metal that flew out of the machine and almost took my head off.

"We're not getting anywhere," Dipper sighed. "I knew it wouldn't work. Stan worked on this for who knows how long to get Stanly out."

"So what happened with Stanly anyway?" I asked.

Dipper sighed. "Well, I'll give you the run down version. Stanly wasn't exacly...himself. He'd lost his mind long before he exited that portal. The mysteries of this town had destryed his mind. He went a little... crazy. He was the reason the town shut down. Stanly went beyond crazy. He went into plain out Cipher insane! It turns out that Bill had invaded and proded at his mind for way too long. He kinda had a part of Bill grow inside him."

"How'd he shut down the town?" I asked.

"He decided if he was going down, we'd go down with him. He planted a bomb in town. When he tried to lure us their, we got held up and missed most of the explosion. Thankfully no one was killed. After that, they drove him off to the nut house and we haven't seen him since."

"How'd Stan take it?" I asked.

"Ehhh..." Mabel held out. "Not too well. We were sent home after the failed mass murder, and when we came back, Stan still wasn't entirely over it."

"Then he fell into the portal," I muttered.

These kids have really gone through a lot. Its sad, really. I've had an awfully boring three years, but their's has been super hard.

"What time is it?" I asked.

Mabel shrugged. Dipper looked at his watch. "Its about eleven."

"Whoa," I said. "We've been down here for a while."

"And gotten nothing done," Dipper said. "Let's face it. This technology just doesn't make any sense. Its just too old."

I had to admit, he had a point. I picked up the scrap metal that had flown out of the machine. I put it in the box. "Have you guys figured out where this machine leads exacly?"

Mabel and Dipper shook their heads. "We've already tried, remember?"

"Did Stanly tell you anything?"

They shook their heads again.

"You guys home?" Came a shout from upstairs.

"Coming Melody!" Soos yelled. "You dudes can keep working. I'll help Melody with the groceries."

He ran to the elevator and went upstairs.

Dipper sighed and sat down at Stan's desk. The machinery looked fried.

The machine shot out another flash of lighting. I went through the scraps from the machine again. There had to be a clue somewhere.

Suddenly, the machine started to spin, fast. I glanced at Mabel and Dipper. "Uh, guys."

"What the heck?" Dipper asked, standing up.

"Did we fix it?" Mabel asked.

"I don't know," Dipper said. He grabbed a peice of equipment and threw it into the portal. It sucked it up. Then it flew right back out.

Everything lost gravity again. "Has this happened any time soon?"
I asked.

"No," Dipper said. "The last time it happened was three years ago, when Stanly was spat out."

"Then what's causing this?" I asked.

All three of us where throw back against the wall. The machine was defenatly glowing brighter then before. And it was spinning faster. I glanced at the twins. They looked just as confused and scared as I felt.

The machine stopped spinning and gravity came back. We fell to the floor. We quickly stood up.

Three figures came out of the machine. I couldn't see their faces because the machine's light was so bright.

I did catch a gleam of something. A knife? My dream came back to me. Two figures had stabbed me and thrown me in the portal. I shivered.

The third figure was floating. It held some sort of chain in its hands. It gave a tug and a fourth figure was pulled though the portal. I could hear the sound of soft whimpers.

"W-who are you?" Dipper asked.

"I think you should know," said one of the figures.

Dipper's eyes widened. "W-what? T-thats not possible."

"Oh, but it is," the figure said. He was a male. But he sounded a little like-

"Dipper," said the second figure. "Isn't the boy just adorable?"

"He won't be for long," said the third figure.

They stepped out from the brightness of the machine.

"Let's get this over with," said...Dipper?

Do you guys know any good cartoons I can watch?

Like, cartoons. I don't watch Anime because its not really my style. I tried watching Attack on Titan, but I didn't really like it.
