Chapter: 18
Dipper tried to tell us that he was fine, but we all knew he wasn't. Mabel finally convinced him to go to the hospital to get it checked out, only after telling him he would be much more useful being able to walk, even if it meant lying low for a few days after.
Dipper crossed his arms and slumped in the back of my car. Well, it wasn't my car exactly. It's my parents old Saturn which is this ugly green color and about a billion years old. I'm always scared that it's gonna break down one of these days, but it's been faithful to me ever since I got my licence last spring.
There was an er unit in Gravity Falls next to the clinic. I hoped that they could help us. Mabel sat in front with me. She had her phone in her hands. She had everyone's number, which worked somehow since all our phones were pretty much from different dimentions, in case their was an emergency and we had to gun it to the Mystery Shack or, if it was really important, I could teleport us there.
Dipper groaned softly, but not quiet enough for us to miss it. I glanced at Mabel for a split second, then the road, then the mirror.
"You okay bro?" Mabel asked.
Dipper nodded. I pulled into the clinic and Mabel helped Dipper out of the car.
"Well, look who finally came out of hiding," said a voice from behind.
Dipper and Mabel glanced behind them. There was a teenager with perfect blond hair, blue eyes, not a speck on her designer jeans and lacy tank top.
"Hey, Pacifica," Mabel said.
She smiled. "What happened to the dork?"
"Nothing," Mabel said. "Just an accedent with the golf cart."
Dipper looked extreamly awkward. "Uh, hey Pacifica..."
"Dipper," she said curtly. "Well, I'll see you around, Mabel!"
With that, she turned on her three inch heels and walked off.
When I turned back to the twins, they were talking. "You know she's my friend. It's not my fault you broke up with her."
I caught up with them. "You dated her?"
Dipper shrugged, looking uncomfortable. "Yeah. So?"
I shrugged. "I just thought you weren't into her."
"I was twelve!" Dipper said. "We dated the next year because the town was cleared out and she moved into the apartment that's across the street from our house in California, so, yeah. And it didn't work out."
"And he's been single ever since," Mabel said with a smile.
Dipper glared at her. "You're single too."
Mabel smiled. "You sure about that?"
Dipper shrugged. "Well, you'll be single in a week or so. You can never make a guy last for more then a month."
I shrugged. "I don't know. It's kinda nice being single."
The automatic doors opened and Dipper was taken in, leaving us in the waiting room.
"So," I said. "Who's you're boyfriend."
Mabel smiled and pulled up a picture of a guy on her phone with black hair that hung in his eyes in an attractive way and green eyes. "His name's Eugene, but I use Gene for short. We started dating at the end of the school year. He's super sweet."
I smiled. "Cool."
"Dipper doesn't know about him, though," Mabel said. "I just want this relationship to last, and it never does when I tell Dipper. So, yeah, we've been going for a few weeks, texting each other, calls. He's really sweet."
"You already said that," I said.
She rolled her eyes playfully. "Whatever. He's the best guy in school. He's kind of a nerd, but he loves soccer and art."
I smiled. "I can relate."
"We've been friends for a while, but he finally asked me out, it was the week of prom. Of, course we couldn't go, but it was kind of like a promposal." She sighed. "And he sends the cutest texts, and he kinda treats me like one of his friends. Not trying to always kiss me and junk. But, yeah. He's great."
I nodded.
"So," Mabel said. "Who's you're crush?"
I shrugged. "I don't have one."
"Shut up!" She said. "You have to have one!"
I shrugged. "All the guys at my school are idiots. And Connor."
"Who's Connor?" Mabel asked.
"Oh, he's just my friend." I said. "Don't get any ideas. He already has a girlfriend. Er, sort of."
"What do you mean, 'sort of'?"
I shrugged. "It's this girl from another school that he has a crush on. Okay, can we please get off the subject of boys?"
Mabel rolled her eyes. "Fine. But if I ever meet this Connor guy, you won't regret it."
I sighed and figured that I'd never convince her otherwise. Our conversation suddenly turned serious. "Do you think Dipper'll be okay?"
Mabel sighed. "I hope so."
We sat in the waiting room for an hour. Mabel started to pace. "Ugh!" She complained. "What's taking so long?"
"Mabel Pines and Kayla?" Called a nurse. We both followed her out the door and into a room. Dipper glanced up at us, his leg in a splint.
Mabel walked over to the bed and I followed her. "You feeling okay?" She asked him.
Dipper nodded. "Fine."
It was clear that he was not fine.

"Okay," I said in the car driving home. "What's up, Dipper."
"Huh?" Dipper asked. "What do you mean?"
"It's obvious you're hiding something. Does you're leg hurt?"
Dipper sighed. "Maybe just a little, but I'm scared that I'm gonna get used as bait a lot. I can't run and I certainly can't fight...what good am I?"
"Water boy," Mabel said with a smirk.
"Ha, ha," Dipper said sarcastically.
Mabel smiled back at her brother. "Maybe you can wack Bill out of the real world with your crutches."
Dipper smiled, though it looked a little strained.
I turned the corner and instantly all the humor died.
The Mystery Shack was in flames. I sped up the car and almost ran over a deer. I swerved and the car came to a stop. I slammed open my door, thinking I knew who I almost ran into.
Deer-Dipper limped over to us, a with a wild look in his eyes. "They're back!" He said frantically. "The Stan's are back!"
