My eyes meet a pair I've grown used to, a pair that I've seen crimson and littered with tears. Eyes that hid much secrets and more pain.
"Adeline-"
"Meet me during the lunch period." She cut me off. Clearly she wasn't a Lifo student(Last-in, First-out) but she looked...frantic. If I ever seen that in my short teenage life it was that day.
Strangely though, my eyes didn't travel to Ivory next to me. I nodded and Adeline was off to whatever class, dragging my curiosity and attention with her.

It was that moment when my day began to drag. Every class before lunch period seemed to drag on, making me wonder why. Why would she tell me now? Why did she have to confront me infront of Ivory when I was still confused? Why was economics so long today?
I mean don't get me wrong. I was definitely interested in Adeline. I had figured that much out when I found myself going every lunch period to her. I had found myself wondering what exactly her troubles were at odd times and they often caused me to forget about my meds...
But I also hadn't stopped liking Ivory. A person had asked me once, way after this, if it was possible to like two people at the same time. I had thought it was, I mean come on? You can like a few boys/girls until one shines brighter. At least that was my motivation but the person thought otherwise. That maybe the so called like for the other person was just infatuation, lust or a physical attraction that temporarily outshone your love for the other person. Listen to me, she's got me talking like a professor...
Maybe I didn't like Ivory at all. Maybe I'd already made my decision subconsciously and would only see it much later.
Finally the period ended with the announcements. My bag was packed. Slung over my shoulder, I was out the door. No deteors that day. No putting my bag down. I walked to her tree.
I approached the main stairs. It wasn't the most direct route but I wanted to give her a chance to get there before me. Also I didn't want to seem like I was really desperate to know but it turned out I didn't need to get to her tree. As I rounded the corner I found her in the very spot we had collided earlier.
Students streamed past her, no doubt heading to the pavilion or wherever they usually hung out. Further away from the classes the better but she stayed. Undeterred by the chaos and the stream, she remained. Once most had already passed I moved closer.
She saw me before I reached her.
"Hey." She greeted.
"Hi." I replied. Great start.
We moved over to the railing. One side overlooked the lack of greenary of our field, the other the rest of the corridors of our school.
She grabbed my hand on the railing. I focused on her as if I wasn't already. She was adorned in our hideous teal jerseys and her hair was done in its signature pony tail.
I watched as her finger circled the ridges of my hand and guided them till the rest on her wrist. Then she pulled my wrist and slid my hand under the sleeve of her jersey.
