Chapter 9

--= Vikk's + POV =--

Eyes heavy I rubbed my eyes with my hands balled into fists, forcing myself to stay awake I glanced beside me to see Rob not making any sudden movements.

...Maybe it was just a dream. Scrunching my eyes I let out a groan as I brushed a hand through my hair. Eyelids begging to close as my eyes started to tear I looked out at the horizon below us.

The camp dimly lit and practically in pitch black darkness I smirked when I realized all of them slumbered in their own little tents.

The hospital tent still a glow I saw silhouettes rushing back and forth, one of them waving their arms as their chest heaved outwards and inwards.

What is going on in there? Trying to get a better look I squinted my eyes, focusing on the shadows of the hospital tent I tensed to feel something warm wrap around my hand.

Eyes darting to my wrist I softened to realize it was a hand. My eyes trailing down the arm they finally locked onto Rob's wide, petrified brown eyes staring at me.

"What happened?...Did you have a dream again?" I asked. Rob shaking his head yes I smiled at him, but the grin instantly dropped as tears trickled down his face, his mouth open in awe.

"Are you okay?...." I asked. Nerves tickling the bottom of my stomach Rob didn't show any sudden signs of movement. Letting out a strained breath, his knees slowly bent so they were covering his chest. His hand covering his neck.

"...This dream was way more violent..." Rob trailed on. Chest twisting inside of me I stared at Rob,

somewhat realizing what he meant my eyes widened as I glanced back at the hospital tent, hearing shouts and cries that sounded like Mitch my expression softened.

"Do you think anybody else has these dreams?" I questioned. Rob's shoulders shrugging, he gazed at the black night sky, clearly traumatized by the experience.

"What happened?" I wondered. Wanting to talk about it so it got out of Rob's system only a single tear rolling down his face answered me.

Waiting a moment, Rob bowed his head, hair shadowing his face his deep, scared brown eyes locked eye contact with mine, his lips set in a thin line.

"He killed everyone." Rob answered grimly. Heart stuttering to a stop my eyes growing wider Rob just stared at me, a sad look flashing through his face his eyes continued to scream with fear.

"Preston did?....." I squeaked out. My voice strangled from fear Rob merely nodded, crossing his arms, wrapping them around his legs he placed his head on his knees.

Rocking himself back and forth, soothing himself as he closed his eyes he let out a sigh, quickly wiping tears off of his face he went straight back to his position, rocking himself gently

I pressed two hands behind me on the grass, pushing myself upwards, I stood up and turned so I was standing right in front of Rob.

Out stretching a hand Rob casted a smile at me as he slipped his hand into mine. Intertwining our fingers, I pulled Rob up slowly until he was standing.

Our face inches apart our breaths brushed against each others faces. Grinning at Rob, he smiled weakly back at me before beginning to walk down the hill, dragging me along with him.

Our hands still intertwined.

"Fu-" I groaned, leaning against the wall of the corridor I looked left and right, making sure nothing was going to ambush us or come our way.

"HEY! WATCH IT!" Jerome cut off. Making sure I didn't say the cuss word I scoffed, smacking the back of my head lightly I closed my eyes, pursing my lips as my arm stained the wall with blood.

"Sorry buddy, I'm just worried. We haven't found any of them yet. Admit it, we all lost each other." I laughed. Jerome's face flashing a smile, it swiftly dropped into a grimace as his eyes narrowed.

"We'll find each other again." Jerome commented. Jerome sounding confident I snapped one eye open to see him poised in a relaxed yet alert position, his battle axe hanging over his shoulder.

"Well, you found one."

A cold voice hissing across the hallway like a serpent it tickled it's way through my ear. Hairs on the back of my neck standing up I pressed myself even more against the wall, getting rid of one angle to be attacked by.

Eyes darting around, trying to find the owner of the voice I glanced quickly over at Jerome to see him crouched,

his ears pressed against his head his teeth were bared as a growl ripped out of Jerome's throat. Man did he look deadly.

Jerome's bear like paws extending razor sharp claws I stared at Jerome's hands for a little longer until the voice spoke up once more.

"What? Don't like family reunions Biggums?" The voice laughed.

Biggums? Jerome tensing at the nickname only he and his friends used he spun in a circle, making sure he wasn't going crazy.

Jerome looking over at me to make sure he wasn't hearing anything I nodded my head, my eyes twitching as my heart flew around my rib cage I scrunched my eyes shut as I felt hot breath tickle my ear.

"You know, you look good in red Lachlan. I should do you a favour by letting you show your true colours more often. Hmm? How does that sound Lachy?"

The voice asked. Shaking my head quickly knowing he was intending something violent the voice sighed from disappointment, still sounding as if he was inches away.

"What a shame. Guess I'll ask Vikk and Rob." The voice laughed. Going rigid, I gripped my sword tightly as anger swelled inside of my chest like fire.

"Listen here buddy, you go anywhere near Vikk and you're dead."

"Taken is he? That's okay. I know Rob's into hot stuff." The voice laughed once more. Jerome raising his battle axe,

thinking he knew where the voice may be coming from he whipped his battle axe towards the ceiling, smirking as he heard the sound of something thudding to the ground.

"Well my fuzzy buddy, you clearly know how to find best friends. But unfortunately for you....I'm not your friend anymore." The voice growled.

Eyes widened I looked at the figure standing at the end of the hallway, wings looming in back of him he looked up from his bowed position, his eyes a piercing red he lunged towards Jerome.

The battle axe in the boy's hand he laughed as he swung it back at Jerome. The sound of something sharp slicing through metal

A shriek echoed throughout the hallway. Directing my attention towards it I screamed as Jerome's body went flying into the wall.

Blood exploding onto the hallway wall Jerome slumped to the ground, the axe impaled in his chest his body twitched as wheezing sounds escaped his lips.

"It's nothing personal really. Well....Scratch that. It's enTIREly...Personal." He hissed.

His red, glowing eyes narrowed I took one look at the boy who was standing a few feet away from us. His face showed nothing but offence and pure hatred.

Gritting my teeth I shot the deadliest look possible. Not wanting to be the one to break first eye contact, the bpy laughed quietly and looked away.

"Lachlan, I don't know if you noticed, but you should probably run. I want to savour these moments with my besties ya know." The boy spoke up.

Heart splintering into a million pieces, I kneeled down beside Jerome. Gagging as I pulled the axe out of his chest Jerome growled as a sickening sloshing sound was made as the axe was pulled out.

Grabbing Jerome by the waist, I slung him over my shoulder, carrying the blood stained axe along with it I raced down the hallway, turning right at the fork in the road.

What the hell is going on.
