Chapter 8

--= Mitch's + POV =--

The room was pitch black, and I could barely breath. A heavy weight dimmed the air, causing everything to blur. Sucking in,

I pushed at whatever was in front of me which felt like something round. Grasping, I shifted the round object which I grabbed in my fingers, only to feel it drift away from me.

Cracking an eye open at the sudden movement, I looked to see an isle of red staring at me through the doorway.

What is this place?.... Why am I even here? Legs begging to move as my limbs told me to sprint, I took a step, hesitant,

as I pushed myself out the door into the red that loomed in the doorway. Everything was silent and quiet. If a pin dropped,

you would easily hear it. God, some people need to start decorating, it looks like the walls are stained with..... Blood....

Crisp crinkles of stains splattered the wall, a crimson colour hid the brick. Letting my hand plant itself onto the crimson looking stains,

it crackled and leaked onto my hand, dribbling down my forearm and dripping off of the point of my elbow. Eyes widened,

I glanced nervously around the room. A wave of insecurity covered me. Goosebumps sprawled across skin as the hair on the back of my neck

stood up I looked left and right.  Oh my gosh....Okay, so there's blood on the walls.... Which way do I go though? Do I just stay here?

It feels like I'm supposed to be doing something in order for this particular situation to move on. My bottom lip catching onto my top row of teeth,

I smothered the skin and ripped a bit off. Tasting the skin in my mouth I bit down on it until it gnawed into practically nothing.

My feet quaked with every step. And my heart hammered every second. The strong feeling of pure terror lurking around the corner shuddered inside of me.

Rattling my bones and setting me on edge. The floor stoned and rough, my feet scraped against it, the rough texture degrading the skin on my ankles.

Heat radiated underneath my shoulders in the pits of my arms, and beads of sweat dribbled down the left side of my face.

It seems that the farther I went, the more humid it would get. Furrowing my brow, I marched forward.

"You know, I really thought you guys would come for me..."

Tensing, I shifted my eyes to the fork in the hallway, only to reveal a figure that loomed a few feet away. His face was shadowed so I couldn't make out

Who it was, but his cold voice make chills jolt down my spine and my hands to immediately clench into fists. Safety leaving my body, I managed to spit out a word.

"W-What?"

"Mitchy...." He spoke up again. Stalking towards me as his shadow grew I saw wings spread above him, looming so he glared down at me.

Voices called across the corridors, all of them sounding familiar I scrunched my eyes shut, and slowly shut them all out.

Walking into a more litted area he stared at his feet, slowly tilting his head up so he was looking me straight in the eyes.

And It felt like I was shot in the head as the pair of bronze coloured eyes locked eye contact with mine.

"You didn't come for me." He grinned. The smile sick and twisted, painted in pain I winced as he laughed, the laugh sounding dead and empty.

"We've been trying to reach you for six months."

"Oh, didn't Lachlan tell you?" Preston giggled. Swinging his hands back and forth he unfolded his wings, Preston's tail snaking around and imitating his hand I stared at him.

"I was in the Nether. You searched thick and thin through the overworld, didn't you?" Preston questioned. An amused tone biting his voice I nodded.

"What else could we do?"

"Save me. That's what you could've done." His smile dropped into a scowl, his eyes crimson red they reminded me  of the blood on the wall.

Scanning Preston thoroughly, my stomach twisted as I noticed blood stains covering Preston's hands and tail, a splash of blood stained on his face he locked eye contact with me.

"Why is it quiet? Where are the guards?" I questioned. Looking around for demons like Preston or any other beasts of the Nether he laughed.

"Taken care of." Preston spoke up. His voice firm and cruel I cringed, spears trailing down my spine the hairs on the back of my neck stood up in terror.

"MITCH? WHERE ARE YOU?" My eyes darting to where it might have come from I looked to see the others running up to us.

"I'M OVER HERE! PRESTON'S HERE T-"

Cutting myself off as my vision blurred I shook my head, rubbing my eyes I opened them once more, only to be greeted by something I never wanted to see.

Mangled corpses of once living friends scattered across the floor of the corridor I backed away, eyes wide as I realized Rob's body wasn't there.

"You know, I kind of want to keep him." Preston laughed.

Spinning on my heels, my breath caught in my throat to see Rob dangling by his neck, Preston's tail wrapped around his neck I let out a shriek.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" I screamed. My hands pressing against the sides of my face my mouth hung open.

Rob's legs kicking as tears streamed down his face Preston brought him closer, Rob helpless at his disposal all I could do was watch.

"P-Preston...." Rob gasped. Choking sounds emitting from Rob's mouth I could see something twitch inside of Preston but it quickly disappeared.

"Your right. I should save the best for last. My little special cupcake." Preston cooed. Closing his eyes he sighed happily,

Turning his back away from Rob a laugh emmitted out of his mouth that trembled the ground itself. The hallway silent and splintered with

Oh so cruel death I closed my eyes, a single tear trailing down the side of my face as Jerome's corpse caught my eye.

Preston whipping his tail towards the wall Rob's body crumpled to the floor. Wheezing and panting he lay in a heap of trauma.

"Preston.... Please don't..." I begged. My eyes catching with Preston's I stared into the eyes of a stranger. Whatever happened here, killed the person inside.

This isn't Preston... This is a demon. Closing my eyes as tears drooled off of my face I opened them to see Preston lunging at me.

"Goodbye Second Chances....."
