xii. Summer Training Camp pt. I

The time had come.

The Summer Training Camp was finally here.

And the students had no idea what was in store for them.

Getting in the bus, Iida guiding everyone in as neatly as he could, there was lots of chatter regarding what they'd be doing, what they hoped to improve on, amongst other things.

The girl Bakugou found herself seated next to Todoroki, and the two talked about many things, but mainly what they were hoping to achieve with their Quirks.

"If I can get better synchronicity with my fire and ice, that would be great." He commented. "My flames are weaker than my ice, I think, too."

"Well, you focused solely on your ice for years due to the resentment towards your father, so it makes sense that you've advanced at different rates with your Half-Hot Half-Cold. You're smart and strong, though, so I'm sure you'll be fine. I don't even know what I can do to prep my body better for handling the Explosion." She replied with a smile, though finished off with a mildly sad sigh.

"The only way to get better is to practice, so I'm sure you'll have to use your Quirk a lot— from everywhere except your palms." Todoroki spoke in a thoughtful tone, placing a hand on her shoulder. "You'll figure it out."

She smiled, both from his words and the little physical affection he showed, something she wasn't sure she'd ever seen him do before. "Thank you, Shoto. By the end of this Camp, we'll be better than ever before."

The rest of the ride carried on with the class bantering with one another, until eventually arriving at their quite unexpected destination.

"Gotta pee, gotta pee..." Came Mineta's shaking voice, looking around the wilderness landscape as there was clearly no restroom nearby, "B-b-bathroom..."

"Of course, we stopped here for a reason." Everyone's attention was immediately on their Sensei, who looked off into the distance with his hands shoved in his pockets.

"Rock on with these sparkling gazes!"

"Stingingly cute and catlike!"

"We're the Wild Wild Pussycats!"

Everyone's attention shifted from their Sensei to the Pro Heroes, Midoriya specifically going on a bit of a self-indulging tangent about them— though did receive a hard punch in the face from one of the members as he oh-so-slightly indicated their not-so-young ages.

"This whole area here is our territory," One of them continued, "Your lodging is at the foot of that mountain over there." As she pointed far in the distance, many class members were in a horrid shock. After some confusion, it was clarified to them that they would be making that entire journey on foot.

"Sorry kids," Came Aizawa's voice before their entire world shook — quite literally, "The training's already begun."

Everyone made their way down the collapsing mountain side differently, some more graceful than others.

What ensued was something that could only be described as Hell.

It was after eight hours that the thoroughly exhausted students made it to their destination, looking as if they'd just come out of a fight for their very lives — though it did also feel like it.

"Holy shit..." [F/n] choked out, leaning against Yaoyorozu.

"Whoa, are you okay?" Came the voice of Ashido, who noticed that the entire backside of her shirt was gone, the edges that remained nothing but crispy. All [F/n] could do in response was give a thumbs up as she removed herself from leaning against Yaoyorozu and found herself standing next to Todoroki.

Fortunately for the worn down students, food was provided for them. Though they were informed that this was the only time this would happen — for the rest of their time, they'd be preparing their meals.

"It'll only take three hours. Yeah, right..." Spoke Sero, quoting what the Pussycats had said many hours ago.

"Sorry, that's how quick we would've made it." Replied Mandalay with a grin on her face.

"Flaunting the power gap in our faces?" Arose Sato's exhausted voice, wiping the sweat from his brow.

"Mew mew mew, we actually thought it'd take you longer. And you dealt with my earth beast pretty easily, too." There was a pause as Pixie-Bob's gaze shifted to a specific cluster of students — Shoto Todoroki, Izuku Midoriya, Tenya Iida, Katsuki Bakugou, and [F/n] Bakugou. "Not bad, especially you five. I'm guessing your past experiences allowed you to act without hesitation?"

From there on, there was a bit of lightheartedness to go around — other than the recently introduced Kota punching Midoriya directly in his balls.

"Cute kid." Commented Katsuki.

"You two are a lot alike." Todoroki remarked.

What ensued next was the students putting their luggage in their respective areas and then returning for what felt like a feast from the gods, and the only meal that would be made for them. They all ate and chatted about, whether it was about the camp, themselves, the food, and everything outside and in-between.

"I'm starving!" [F/n] whined as she stuffed her face with anything and everything. Iida was going to comment on how messily she was eating, and that she should probably tone it down a bit so that she doesn't choke, but found himself unable to do so. Instead, he found himself staring — or rather, gazing. The happy, relieved smile on her face, the joy in her voice as she talked to Todoroki, who was sitting across from her. The boy was even smiling back, even shared a few laughs, something more-so remarkable for what-used-to-be cold and stoic classmate, who he considered one of his dearest friends.

Iida wasn't even quite sure what they were talking about, he was zoned out looking at her. And this, this confused him. Since when had he, Tenya Iida, focused so heavily on anything but his academics and becoming the best Hero he can be, well, with the exception of a little revenge sprinkled in the mix. What was he feeling? Why couldn't he place it? How can one not know what they themselves are feeling within their own mind and body?

"Yo, Class Rep, if you don't start eating now it'll get cold. Hell, I'll eat it if you're not wanting to." Piped the Girl Bakugou, snapping him from his trance. The look in her sharp eyes told him though, that he'd been caught doing nothing but staring — though more- so gazing — at her.

His situation worsened. He couldn't reply. He didn't know what to say. What on earth is going on with me right now? It must be the exhaustion, it has to be.

"Ahh, open wide Class Rep." Once again snapped from his unsure thoughts, he was now back to reality, a reality in which a set of chopsticks were being held up to his lips. "You gotta eat Iida, grow big and strong~"

A soft laugh escaped his lips and in that moment, rather than dismissing her and feeding himself, he opened his mouth as she gently placed the noodles in his mouth.

Not many students were paying attention, but those who were would've sworn they were hallucinating. Those students being Todoroki, Midoriya, Asui, Yaoyorozu, Tokoyami, Uraraka, and Ashido. And while he wasn't visibly showing it, Katsuki had noticed as well, yet kept entirely to himself and those around him.

It kicked in immediately though what had happened, and he took control of his own eating right after the bite. His cheeks reddened, whether from embarassment or something else, he wasn't quite sure. As he ate, his navy hues met her gaze once again and he could just tell that she wasn't over the fact she'd caught him looking at her for who-knows-how-long earlier.

Time passed and the students were now all bathing.

"Gosh, this water feels amazing~" Rejoiced [F/n] as she submerged herself neck deep in the perfectly tempered water.

"I know right?" Sighed Ashido happily, sitting upon a slightly elevated bit, gently swinging her legs in the water.

"Nothing like a nice, hot bath after a hard days of work!" Uraraka said with a gleeful smile, her and Asui sitting together in a corner of the bath.

"I couldn't agree more." Hagakure, though unseen by others, smiled as she placed herself near Ashido. Yaoyorozu and Jirou were talked quietly amongst themselves as they too, enjoyed the steaming bath.

Ashido was going to approach [F/n] regarding Iida, as she was extremely curious about how they seemed to be getting along in a remarkable way, but ended up not doing so as she'd been seemingly having a good time talking with Uraraka and Asui. For now, I shall let her have peace. For now.

The students peace wouldn't be everlasting, as the next morning before the light of dawn, would their real training begin.

Sorry about some of these chapters taking literally f o r e v e r, when I get to writing certain bits, I read along with the manga to ensure that things are as accurate as possible. It gets weird with writing multiple stories and trying to remember which story is on which chapter lol. Anyways, hope y'all enjoyed!!
