iii. Magnets and People
The girl Bakugou was trying to figure out a way to tell her brother why she looked like she'd been beaten to a pulp.
Well, then again, she was.
But he couldn't know the truth, and she absolutely hated lying to him. The two of them never lied to one another, it was a promise they made and neither one of them ever intended on breaking it.
Yet here she was, trying to think of a lie to tell her brother about why she had a gargantuan scar across her torso, and one on her shoulder.
Iida and Midoriya had already gone home, not even bothering with the rest of their internships, yet Todoroki and the girl Bakugou stayed.
"You could tell him that we fought." Todoroki suggested, the two of them relaxing in his hotel room, watching tv, something neither of them did that often.
"I'm not gonna tell Katsuki that we fought, especially with how severe the wounds are!" She yelled, not quite meaning to. "Sorry."
"It's fine, I'm used to it." Silence followed that statement, a long silence. After Midoriya had gotten Todoroki to realize his power was his own, he opened up a bit to the green haired boy.
But her, he told her everything just after the Stain incident. While she wasn't the one to cause his Quirk awakening, she glued herself to his hip since day one, always claiming that she was curious about his cold, mysterious ways. The moment she saw him use his flames, she was all up in his business, and that's how she found out.
He trusted her, she wasn't fake, she wasn't perfect, and she wasn't pretending to be either. He liked that about her.
"You could tell him the truth."
"I can't, you know that just as well as I do."
"When did you start caring about what authority tells you?"
"I- you know me better than I do sometimes."
"I'm not really fond of your brother, so I don't really care how the situation makes him feel, I care about how it makes you feel. So I want you to do what's better for you."
"Wow, Todoroki, that's the most you've ever spoken to me, and with emotion, too." The girl Bakugou was in slight awe.
The heterochromatic boy shrugged, his face still as blank as ever, but she knew better, his tone didn't need to change. His words meant everything.
"What about Iida?"
"What about Class Rep?"
"Have you tried asking him?"
"Pfft, of course I haven't. Why the hell would I?" The girl seemed mildly offended, though he knew she wasn't.
"He is our Class President, he might know best in this situation."
"He's the last person I'm going to for help. We don't completely get along."
Todoroki raised an eyebrow, a sign of expression that Todoroki had just recently picked up on.
"Why're you looking at me like that?"
"You admitted to almost going with Iida on his internship to make sure he was okay, you went to save him, and stood up for him, just like I did, when the Police Chief told us we were in trouble. I think that's what normal people call, caring for someone."
"Tch, like you know anything about normal people."
"I know you, so by extension of your previous statement, I guess you aren't normal either."
"Damn you!"

"Iida, how are you feeling?" Midoriya asked, the two on a phone call from their separate homes.
"I'm feeling better, my arms are out of their slings, so all is good. Thanks for asking, Midoriya!"
"Of course, you're my friend! Have you heard anything from Bakugou or Todoroki?"
"No, and I must admit, it is somewhat odd to hear you call one Bakugou, Kacchan, and the other, just Bakugou." Iida answered honestly. "And they both call you Deku."
"Kacchan and I hung out a lot when we were kids, Bakugou didn't. She still hung out around us, but only because of Kacchan, she didn't really like the people he seemed to gravitate towards. I suppose she calls me Deku out of habit, that is all she ever heard Kacchan call me, after all." Midoriya stated, not realizing he was on the verge of ranting.
"That makes me wonder, the brother Bakugou seems to only care about being the top of the top, and the two of them have the same Quirk. Does that affect their relationship? Wait, no! It's none of my business, it's not very hero like of me to dig into other's business behind their back!" Iida refrained himself, realizing what he was doing.
"Why don't you just ask her, Iida?"
The boy was silent for a moment, causing Midoriya to worry slightly. "Well, Midoriya, it's not like Bakugou and I get along. I am the Class President, I try to enforce rules and keep everything in order, she does the exact opposite."
"Even if that's true, she came to Hosu City to save you, Iida." Midoriya brought up, just as Todoroki had to the girl Bakugou.
"She was just doing what a hero's supposed to do... What I wasn't doing at the time." Iida's voice got relatively softer, something Midoriya picked up on immediately.
"You were blinded by rage over your brother Iida, you're human, just like the rest of us. Don't put yourself down over it, we all make mistakes, every single one of us."
"Yeah, you're right. Thanks, Midoriya!"
"Anytime! Now, I think I'm gonna message Todoroki and Bakugou, not hearing from them, especially after what just happened, doesn't seem right."
"Well, they didn't come home, they chose to stay at their internship, they might be busy, Midoriya." Iida suggested, though he, too, thought it was a bit strange.
"I'll message Todoroki, would you mind messaging Bakugou?"
"Why me?"
"Because I'm Deku."
"You two get along just fine, Midoriya. It'd be best if you messaged her. My chances of getting a response that isn't stay outta my business, Class Rep, are slim to none."
"To be our Class President, you sure are complicated." Sorry, Iida, but I'm not going to be the one.
"I- Midoriya! Fine! If it proves that I'm a good Class President, then I will gladly message our dear Bakugou!" And he hung up.

"Everything hurts." The girl Bakugou whined, laying back on Todoroki's bed.
"You did get cut open, it would only make sense for you to be in so much pain." Todoroki stated plainly, earning an eye roll from the girl, which he saw clear as day since he looked back at her, sitting on the foot of his own bed. Or rather, the hotel bed that was currently his own.
Ding!
Ding!
"Hm, our phones?" The girl Bakugou questioned, slowly sitting back up. Todoroki handed her her phone from the bedside table, the boy then checking his own.
Class Rep🤡: Hello there, Bakugou! Neither Midoriya or I had heard from you or Todoroki since the incident and we just wanted to make sure that the two of you are okay! As Class President, I do worry about my classmates conditions!
Self: Not your business, Class Rep. But Todoroki and I are doing just fine, a little sore, but nothing too bad, a little stabby-stab won't hurt us... And screenshot this because you may never hear it from me again... Don't blame yourself for what happened, what Stain did to your brother was unforgivable, and I can't say that if the same thing happened to Katsuki, I wouldn't kill whoever did it.

Midoriya💚: Hi Todoroki! Iida and I just wanted to make sure the two of you were doing okay!
Self: We are doing just fine, Midoriya, thanks for asking. How are you and Iida doing?
Midoriya💚: We're doing just fine! I had Iida message Bakugou, though it was actually hard to convince him.
Self: I tried to get her to ask Iida for help lying to her garbage brother about why she looks the way she does, but she refused.
Midoriya💚: Did you just call Kacchan, garbage?
Self: Yes.
Midoriya💚: ... ignoring that, Iida and Bakugou really don't get along, do they?
Self: Maybe it's because they're different. Wait, no, because don't opposites attract?
Midoriya💚: ... Todoroki, we're not talking about magnets, we're talking about two people.
Self: But magnets and people are both things, shouldn't the rule still apply?
Midoriya💚: No, Todoroki, that's not how that works...
Self: How does it work, then?
Midoriya💚: That's a topic for another day, just not today... Anyways, you said the two of you are doing just fine? We were just worried because we hadn't heard anything and after what happened, well, you know.
Self: Know what? Yes, Midoriya, we're doing just fine. Bakugou is really sore, so I explained to her that when you get cut open, it makes sense that you would be in a lot of pain.

Class Rep🤡: I appreciate your words, Bakugou. They were unexpected, if I'm being perfectly honest with you, and I am no liar. Lying isn't very hero like.
Self: Yeah, believe me, I know...
Class Rep🤡: Is something the matter? I've never seen you use "..." At the end of a statement, you're always very affirmative with what you say.
Self: You must really pay attention to me to know that.
Class Rep🤡: Of course I do! I pay attention to my fellow classmates as to make sure they are okay and do anything for them I can! I am Class President, it's my job to take care of you all!
Self: I can hear you through your text messages, even more than I can hear Katsuki— and he only uses caps.
Class Rep🤡: ... I don't know how to take that, so I'll take it as a compliment and move on. You're avoiding my question, but if you are uncomfortable answering, please don't feel the need to! The last thing I want is for you to be uncomfortable!
Self: You know, Todoroki was trying to get me to go to you for help with this, and while his life advice is definitely not one to listen to, I'm running out of options.
Class Rep🤡: I will help you in anyway I can! Especially after what you did for me, I am in your debt!
Self: You're not in my debt, Class Rep! I don't want you to help me if you're just paying me back. I want your help because you want to help me, so tell me, which is it?
Iida was in a slight state of shock, his fingers lingering over his phone screen. She's never been one to speak like this, whatever she needs help with must really be bothering her.
Class Rep🤡: I'm helping you because I want to, because even if you don't consider me as one, I consider you my friend, and I'd do anything to help my friends.
Self: Katsuki, he's who I need help with. We live in the same house, and he doesn't know that any of this happened, he can't know that any of this happened, so how am I supposed to explain the scars?
Class Rep🤡: You'd have to lie to him, which I know isn't very hero like, I just said that a little bit ago, but no one can know.
Self: I know, and that's my problem! Katsuki and I promised to never lie to one another, and it's a promise we've kept thus far. Through the good, bad, and the ugly, we've been 💯 honest with each other. Todoroki even suggested that I tell Katsuki that he did it, that he's responsible for my scars, and that's just brutal, Todoroki would never hurt me like that, but Katsuki would take that statement at face value and despise Todoroki that much more.
Class Rep🤡: I'm so sorry you got wrapped up in this, Bakugou.
Self: Oi! I went after you on my own accord, it was my choice to make, and I made it without a second thought, and I'd do it again!
Class Rep🤡: Then tell your brother that we fought. It's a much more believable story, and lines up with our severely contradicting attitudes and personalities. Especially with how much we argue.
Self: Our internships were in two completely different locations, Class Rep, and he's no dumbass, believe me, I would know.
Class Rep🤡: Let's get into a fight, then, at UA.
Self: I'm sorry, I think I'm blind all of a sudden, mind lending me a pair of your glasses? I know you have plenty. You're the Class Rep, your record is squeaky clean, you're supposed to be a goody-two-shoes.
Class Rep🤡: What is it you said to the, might I emphasize, POLICE CHIEF? That some rules are meant to be broken?
Self: Iida...
Class Rep🤡: If I can attempt murder, I can fake-fight you, though, there wouldn't be anything fake about it. :')
