2 < New Game >
You knew he wouldn't let you fall. It was his job to keep you alive.
Heck, you weren't real fond of dying either. All you wanted was a new life.
"...Do you need help, ma'am?"
...
"Yeah."
--•--•--•--•--•--
You switched to sitting with your legs dangling off the building's ledge. Still, you stared down, mostly because it was such a nice view. You loved heights actually, but Natsuo was terrified of them, so you often refrained from going anywhere too high up for his sake.
The hero smiled slightly. "So what brings you here?"
"Hhhh. Y' don't have to waste your time. I'm not gunna jump. Just want a nice long look at the view before going downstairs."
"I dunno~ You had a very worrying look on your face just a few moments ago."
"You can escort me down yourself. I really don't care. I won't jump."
The hero sat beside you, watching the side of your face closely. Maybe even a little too close. "So what brought you up here?"
"Ghh, nothing." Leaning away. "Why do you care? I said I won't jump. Stop wasting your time with me and save other people." Instantly, you regretted being snappy, especially at someone simply trying to help. There was something annoying about his aura, though.
"Oh but you easily could have waited for me to be off duty." The hero leaned back, using his wings for support. He wove his arms behind his head. "Or you could just go someplace else. Someplace where the heroes aren't quite as fast."
"You're not wrong..." You considered tipping off the edge now just to get this conversation over with. The fact that he was still here really ticked you off for some reason. You sighed, letting him have his little win. "It makes the most sense logically... I have no reason to be alive, no drive to do anything, and nobody respects or even wants to be around me. I'm just taking up space, time, money and resources that could be going to somebody else right now."
"To be, or not to be.. That is the question."
Side eyeing him, "You did not just quote Shakespeare in front of me."
"Wait, you understood that??"
"Yeah, I used a lot of Shakespearean plays to help me learn English."
Hawks dragged his hands down his face. "That was supposed to be a joke between me, myself, and I."
"HA...HA..."
"Maybe that's what you can do. You could be an English teacher~!"
"Ugh, if I enter a school again, just go ahead and shoot me, because that ain't me anymore."
"Agh, bad time?"
"I'm just glad to finally be outta there." Leaning back on your palms. "Hey, so you got any tips for getting and or keeping jobs?"
"Sorry. No help there. I was approached for this job."
"Luckyyyyy..."
The two of you sat and stared at the cityscape for a while longer.
"...So what kind of advice do you have on starting over and trying life again...? Because I can't think of anything." Every idea led you right back to a place like this.
...
"Hm... The only advice I could give would be to go at it a little dramatic to start. So you can't just take it back and give up. Do something that really pulls you out of your comfort zone. Like moving into a new place or, uh, changing your name! I- eh, I'm not really the best person to ask, so take this advice with a grain of salt."
"Something dramatic, huh?" Guess that could be interesting. You've always wanted to disappear off the face of the earth, even if only for a little while.
The hero chuckled, a hint of regret for giving his advice so quickly. "You should talk to a professional about it before doing anything huge."
You chuckled as well to relieve the other's nervousness. "Hey, don't worry. If there's anything I'm confident about myself, it's that I never do something without thinking first." You stretched your arms over your head. "That's my biggest problem, actually. I have a bad habit of overthinking even the littlest things." Hawks noticed you were starting to get restless and swung himself off the ledge, taking flight again. You stood up, stepping further from the edge of the roof. Face-to-face with the hero again, you bowed. "I'm satisfied with my sightseeing now."
"Let me escort you just to be safe."
"Eehh..." You pointed down. "You saw the cameras, right?"
"Yeah?"
"Well, I feel kind of embarrassed going down there... I don't want my.. family and friend.. to know where I've been."
The hero laughed. "That's no big issue at all! Just leave it to me!"
As he said he would, the hero rode down the elevator with you to the very first floor. As the two of you nearest the main entrance, Hawks elbowed you and handed you a small card. "It's to my agency if you need more resources or guidance on what to do next. The girl working the desk's real sweet; she's got you covered."
You had no intention to use it, but you took the card anyway. "Thanks." You were more interested in what this guy had planned.
The moment the two of you exited, several cameras awaited. People who weren't already recording started taking pictures as everyone asked their questions. Hawks gestured you to walk along the wall away from everyone before turning to face the crowd that had formed. Several bright red feathers deployed from his wings to cover up any camera not facing him. You couldn't catch everything he said, but it sounded like he was being very polite about explaining what happened without spilling too much.
You escaped and blended back in with the crowd rather easily. To home you returned, head spinning over what wou would do with your life now that it was resumed.
----------
"I'm home." You said as you entered. Your mom and dad were playing Go in the living room. Since your dad was winning, Mom was happy for a distraction.
"Oh hey, (Y/n)~!" She stood and waved. Unlike how she hoped, your dad was too focused to miss her attempt to move pieces around. He flicked her hand off the board and made another winning move. Mom growled but decided to stick with her cheery tone. "Just saw on TV a girl almost took her life in broad daylight! Promise me you would never try something like that. I will cry!"
"Tch. Yes ma'am." Smiling softly. You left your shoes behind and headed up the stairs. A few hours of doing absolutely nothing of value in your room went by like that. That feeling of hopelessness crept back in. That no matter what you tried, you'd fail.
"Don't ever try something so stupid like that again." Katsuki held your door open. You hadn't even heard him coming. You dropped your phone and sat up in bed. Katsuki had his new UA uniform on, having just returned from school.
"What did I do now?"
"You know, dumba##!" The younger teen rolled his eyes. "You don't even have it bad, you just need to try something for once."
You crossed your legs and leaned over your lap grumpily. "That's easy for you to say."
Katsuki opened the door more so he could lean through it. "Oh so you're jealous of ME for having a dream and chasing it?! It isn't that hard to chase a dream, ya know! Just figure out what you want and decide you're gunna get it d###it!"
Elbows on your knees, your head dropped to rub your hands through your hair. "I've. Never. Wanted. Anything, though. That's the issue I'm trying to solve! Telling me to 'try harder' isn't going to fix anything!" You dropped your hands and stared down over the edge of your bed. For a moment, you felt as though you were back on that roof talking to a hero. That brief but meaningful time when you could actually think clear thoughts! When someone's attention was souly on you but not in a condescending way. You wished you were back there. With someone to talk to who'd actually listen. Even if that hero didn't really care about you, at least it felt like he did. You laid down and rolled onto your side so your back was facing your little brother. You were on the verge of tears just thinking about how pathetic you looked to everyone. No dreams, hopes, ambitions. Slowly rotting away in your room.
After some silence, Katsuki got the message and started closing the door behind him. He stopped to mumble something, though. "You're not an idiot." More like grunted. "Back when I was graduating elementary school, I applied for the same middle school you attended just to see if I could pass... I was short by three points." Your eyes opened. "If you're smarter than me, then surely you can figure out how to trick yourself into being motivated or something." He then closed the door.
With both his and Hawks' words stirring around in your head, you set to thinking. What could you do to get your life together? Was there really a way to reverse this mess??
After a new brain child formed, you grabbed your phone and started doing some research.
Tricking yourself into starting a new and exciting life, huh?
----------
2:34 AM
...
Ahhhhh... After a long night of studying, Natsuo was ready for some good slee- oh.. :( He received a sudden call on his phone.
As his bleary eyes read your name, he sighed and answered the call. "Hello?"
""So you know how horny people are the most motivated people on the planet behind religious extremists?!""
...Natsuo hung up.
He set his phone down on the desk beside his bed and turned off the night lamp. After getting cozy in bed, his phone started ringing again. "Ugh, now??" He picked up the phone and squinted at the screen. Yep, it was you again. He answered the call, laid the device on his pillow, and put it on speaker so he wouldn't have to hold it. "Yeah? What about horny people and religion?" You cackled on the other end.
""What if I-? What if I became a SIMP to motivate myself to get my life together!?"" You were laughing so hard it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine you rolling around on the floor.
"Uhhh, I don't get it."
""Okay, so I'm thinking of, like, moving out and into a new place and getting a basic job.- I dunno, a janitor or something, at this one hero's agency.- Remember how like everyone says you'll become like the people you hang out with most?- Well I want to be a cool person, ya know?- So why not work for some cool people??""
"Wait, moving out before you even get a job??"
""Crazy, right?! But maybe hitting rock bottom and living on ramen for a while might actually motivate me to get stuff done!""
"You sure you won't just settle like you usually do and end up some homeless drunk?"
""That's where the simping comes in, buck-a-roo!""
"Was that an English world-?"
""Alright SO! You remember how I like never had a crush, right?""
"Except when you thought you had one on me."
You snapped your fingers. ""Yess!. I was always a little jealous of the other girls though. They were a little weird about it, yeah, but boy were they determined!! So, I was wondering what if I acted like I had a little crush on someone~? Someone who is already WAY out of my league so I don't have to worry about any actual relationship drama. Someone who will basically never notice me while being my little target~""
Natsuo rubbed his brows. "You're not talking about stalking someone, are you?"
""No no no no no NO! I'll only use information already open to the public about him, which is a lot, actually! The whole point is to turn myself into someone worthy of a guy like him but not actually him, ya know?! Because then maybe if I'm worthy to be with someone like that, I'll finally think I'm worthy to love myself!""
"And who IS this 'him'?"
""Ha-.. Actually, that's a secret.""
"So now you're keeping secrets from me?"
""Yeah, well--.. To be honest I wasn't actually supposed to tell anyone about my plan, but I just got so excited, so I had to!""
"Uh-huh..." Gosh, was he tired.
""I'm actually.. going off the radar for a little while. No- not long. Just... I dunno. I feel like I have it too good here. If I feel like I always have a safety blanket here to catch me, then.. why even bother crossing the tightrope?"" Natsuo's eyes widened as he listened, sides of his mouth twitching. ""After I'm starting to feel a little better about myself, I'll be back."" You giggled. ""Maybe I'll even stop by on your birthday and bring you a little cake!""
Natsuo sat up and grabbed his phone. Holding it in front of him, the young man realized you were a few words away from saying goodbye. "Wait- wait, no. Hold up... You're saying you plan to.. abandon your family and friends.. everything you have, and move into some trashy dump so you can stalk some random celebrity all day!?"
""No-o I-- well sort of but you're making it sound a lot worse than it actually is. I intend to educate myself, take online courses on whatever I'm interested in, teach myself other languages, and develope hobbies for once!-""
"-Does that actually matter, though?? You don't have to move away to do all that! Who would you be benefitting by moving away and leaving us??"
""M... Myself..? I.. I know it sounds selfish of me. But. You have other friends aside from me. If you're worried about me leaving you, then remember I intend to come back eventually.""
"'Eventually.' But how long is eventually?" He was getting a lot more emotional about this than he intended to, not helped by being so tired. "Listen, if you never reach your goal, then what? Will you just stay away forever??"
""You don't believe in me?""
"Hhh, being honest with you... No, I don't."
""Hmh... Fine then. You know what? Challenge accepted.""
"What?"
""I'll go on a date with him, it'll be all over the fan-blogger-whatever pages, and then you'll know I'm on my way home.""
"That's still.. hhh, insanely stupid."
""You know what, though..?"" Dropping the energetic, determined, girly tone, ""..I almost committed suicide today.. Listen, I could be the dumbest b#### on this planet. I could become a laughing stalk and booed out of the country. I just...don't really care about that anymore...."" After some quiet, you rolled onto your side -- presently laying on the floor -- and laid the phone on your head. You scratched at the rug under you as your eyes wandered. ""All I want is to feel like I'm alive. I want to be more than some side character with nothing to give but cautionary tales of what not to do; what not to become... I know this plan is stupid, irresponsible, and poorly thought-out... But that's just the kind of plan I need right now. And I need to act now before I lose motivation and quit... Please... If you have any respect for me and my wishes, don't try to change my mind. ... All I'm trying to do is save myself.""
Natsuo hung up and set his phone down on the blanket in front of him. He sat with his legs crossed on the bed, holding his lower face in his hands. His body trembled as he fought the urge to cry, forcing himself to breathe normally through the breaks. He couldn't win at everything. Tears dripped down his hands and fell onto his legs.
He thought for a moment about what he could have done to help you back then. Maybe, if he hadn't been so focused on himself all these years, you would have continued to stand by his side. Maybe you would have graduated together, taken jobs together, risen in ranks together, and maybe even build a hospital of your very own together. All while remaining the closest of friends.
He'd gotten so used to you taking care of and always being there for him that he didn't even consider you could leave one day. Reciprocating those feelings by being there for you in your lowest moments hadn't ever come to the forefront of his mind.
And now, it was too late.
You had new plans and he wasn't in them.
----------
Actually moving out of the house was a slow and tedious process. Even though it was the main focus of all your efforts, it still took about a week. Started slow. Just you applying for jobs, having online interviews, looking up apartments close to said jobs, comparing prices, and setting up a bunch of phone and insurance related stuff so you wouldn't have to rely on your parents anymore for that. All with the help of the trusty internet and its countless tutorials! To the outsider, you were still on your phone doing seemingly nothing of value all day. Felt like you were starting to live this secretive double life... Kind of exciting, actually.
Your family started to pick up that something was going down when you started selling things. Like, almost everything. Save for a select few childhood plushies, devices and other paperwork needed to stay afloat, you planned to sell everything in your room to pay for your rent a few months ahead.
The very same morning Katsuki had his Sports Festival event to go to, you received an email saying you got the job -- the one you wanted most. Oh, what a lovely day.
They wanted you to start working asap, meaning you'd have to say goodbye to everyone here pretty soon.
----------
"Huh, I thought they'd be doing dances or something. Not.. this." You ate popcorn with Natsuo, sitting in a crowd of thousands of people watching a bunch of teenagers fight each other for first place in some race.
"Nah, this is pretty much what I expected." The other shrugged. "Have you never seen these events before?"
Mouth full, "Nah my dad usually took us to live concerts and stuff. And my mom's more into traditional sports than quirk fights or whatever. And I personally was never really interested 'cause I'd get jealous easy. "
"Ah, yeah that makes sense."
After the race was over, you pulled Natsuo downstairs.
----------
"Hey! I don't think we're supposed to be back here!" Natsuo tiptoed after you through the halls of this massive arena.
"We're family! Plus I saw your dad walking in and out of here so it should be fiiine!"
"You saw my dad!?!"
"Don't worry I'll make sure we avoid him."
"I don't know... He can be pretty sneaky sometimes..." You read the signs above every door until you came across the one your brother should be in.
SLAM!
You cupped your hands around your mouth as you slid in through the door. "KATSUUUUUUU- oh God there are a lot of people in here!" You zipped behind Natsuo, regretting your commotion immediately.
"Natsuo?" Shoto Todoroki inhaled similarly to a gasp. Your friend's younger brother just so happened to be in the same class as yours. How cute~ "What are you doing here?"
Natsuo pointed behind him. "(Y/n) wanted to prank her brother."
You reached out your hand and waved it frantically. "Hi, Izuku! You did great out there, man!"
"Aw, thanks!" The little green haired one squeaked. "I'm glad you could come here to cheer me on!"
You stuck out a thumbs-up. "Worth the higher price!"
Natsuo glanced over his shoulder, hands in his pockets. "You talk about it like you're the one who paid for them."
"He-hey, I pitched in!!"
"..."
"..a little bit..."
"Mmhmm. Thought so."
A majority of the class turned to Izuku. A brown haired girl saying, "Deku, I didn't know you had a sister.. or.. or brother."
Your arms appeared on both sides of Natsuo, pointed at yourself. "Don't worry I'm a girl."
Izuku threw his hands over his face and waved them around. "You- you're mistaken! She's not MY sister, she's Kachan's!"
Everyone's heads then turned to the only classmate actively ignoring the whole thing. He sat at a corner of the table, his feet resting upon it. One hand loosely caged the bottom half of his face while his eyes wandered. They snapped back at everyone after the room went silent. "What are you extras looking at?" Only you could tell how embarrassed he was to see you here. By this point you were meekly peeking out from behind Natsuo.
Some kid with really yellow hair slid in close and elbowed your brother. "Who knew you had such a hottie for a sister, Bakugo~?"
"P*SS-OFF, PIKACHU!" Katsuki shoved yellow-head away. "YOU ARE NOT DATING MY SISTER!"
You couldn't stop staring, even as commotion broke out. To be able to look around and see Shoto, Katsuki, and Izuku together in the same room was bizarre... You hoped they'd all get along some day. The other classmates were pretty cute too.
Then one of the students asked. "So if she's Bakugo's sister, how does she know Midoriya?" Everyone's heads turned Izuku's way.
The little guy panicked under all the stares. "Uh-um-m-my mom basically raised her so she's s- so- sorta like a sister to me!"
...
"Awww, that's cute."
"But wait, so then how does Bakugo's sister know Todoroki's brother?"
You finally stepped out from behind Natsuo and shoved him out of the doorframe. "You know what? This was great, but we should probably get going now. Knock em dead, Kat!" You scurried away with Natsuo the same way you arrived.
"Awww. 'Kat' is a cute nickname~"
"IT IS NOT MY-"
----------
Watching all these kids fighting was kind of brutal. Seemed most the people were desensitized to that, though, so maybe you were the weird one. Natsuo frowned and lowered his head every time his old man stormed down the stairs cheering his little boy on as the fights got more intense. You rubbed his back, wishing to promise all would be alright.
But of course you could never actually promise something like that. Nobody has control over their emotions but themselves, and even that last part's debatable sometimes.
You were really scratching your head over Izuku's quirk awakening... It just didn't make any sense! One day he had none and the next, BAM, literally! And now here he was dishing out punches and flicks like All Might, destroying himself in the process! It was ugly to watch and you wound up covering your eyes every time he fought. Great that he was finally able to shoot for his dreams! But..
...Your brother was wrong about a lot of things, but maybe he had a point with this. Especially if Izuku kept hurting himself!
After Izuku lost to Shoto, you excused yourself to go find the emergency room. Whilst running through the halls, you came upon Endeavor.
While running, "F### YOU B####-A## SON BEATER FREAK" You ran past, your voice getting quieter only because of the gaining distance between you. "of mother-f###ing stars or some s###!" You disappeared behind a corner, but your voice was still faintly heard.
"You done??!" Endeavor's voice boomed your way. He huffed, choosing to ignore you. Couldn't believe he kept running into that girl at random. Thought he told his son not to be friends with her a long time ago. She keeps appearing to him like some kind of ghost. A ghost that only screams profanities and nothing more.
----------
You found Izuku in the nurse's room but were kicked out of there real fast. Super annoying. You sat outside the door to wait. After a time, some skinny blond dude shuffled out of the room. He turned your way and tripped over your legs. Though he was the one who fell, he was the first to apologize! "I- I'm real sorry, young man! I- I mean young miss!"
You blushed so bad you couldn't even speak. Embarrassed about tripping someone over like that. You jumped to your feet and offered out your hands to help the guy up. He accepted one of them, using his other arm and legs to do most of the lifting. He was a very tall man, after all. Once the man was up, you bowed several times, face still red.
"I- it's fine, really! I should have been looking... Is there a reason you're out here? You're not one of the students.. -at least I don't think!"
You pointed at the door. "Is he okay?"
"Midoriya?" You nodded. "Yeah, he should be fine now! How do you know--? agh, sorry, I should really get going!" The man turned and scampered away. After, you tried to sneak in again but was immediately wacked by the old lady, so you gave up and returned to Natsuo's side.
----------
The ceremony was a... disaster. At least in your eyes. You knew why they would have to chain your brother up, but as his sister you couldn't help but feel enraged by it.
It was weird, actually. For the first time you were the one feeling protective of your little bro. When you were kids at least, he was always the one declaring he would protect you.
Natsuo watched nervously as you clenched your teeth, nails digging into your knees as your younger brother screamed through the muzzle. Your friend rubbed your back, silently agreeing with you. He leaned in close and whispered. "You should go." You knew what he meant by that. You got up and found a way under the stadium.
-----
(Literally just copied the following bit from an older fic of mine because I be lazy like that.) (hence why it's suddenly in another pov)
The dull sounds of cheering died out as the event came to a close. The shuffling and heavy tapping of my steps echoed off the hall walls underground.
I was fuming. With my hands cuffed and the first place medal still hanging from my mouth, I wandered to the nearest corner and just stared at the wall. An ache swelled in my chest as things began to calm down. My breaths grew rapid as my thoughts fixated on what had just happened.
I'd never been so embarrassed in my entire life! Literally all of Japan was there to watch me chained to a concrete pole, a muzzle over my mouth, kicking and screaming in a fit of rage! Worst of all, my very own idol, All Might, was right there to witness the embarrassment! I didn't want to claim his first place prize, so why did they force it on me?! How long until people stopped treating me like this!?
This had to be worse than that sludge villain attack. At least then.. there were only a few dozen citizens to witness how pathetic I was.
My shoulders trembled, tears leaking out uncontrollably. I stared down my own shadow with the most hatred of all.
Why did I have to be like this?
"On behalf of the school, I would like to thoroughly apologize." Came a soft, kind voice. My head twisted around, glaring over my shoulder at the small silhouette of our principle. "If I had known they would tie you up like that, I would have never given them the okay." I quickly wiped the tears off onto my shoulders as the mouse hybrid thing neared. "Do you mind if I get those things off of you?" Nezu pulled out a key. My foot scraped over concrete as I spun around to face the principle. Couldn't bring myself to speak or make any attempt to communicate. My vision was a blur, my heart thumping too mightily to control my steps.
Nezu took my silence as an okay. He shuffled up to me and grabbed at the clunky bindings around my hands and arms. Silently, the mouse found the key hole and inserted the key he had, freeing me.
Clack!
The metal clashed with the ground. Nezu did the same with the joint-locks around my elbows. Once freed, I pulled my hands up, rubbing the sore spots on my arms and wrists. "Do you mind coming down here to see me eye-to-eye?"
"Huh?" After a second of silence, however, I knelt down on one knee in front of the principle. I was still so on edge. Good thing Nezu's presence was so calm and polite, because no doubt if anyone else were here, I would be screaming and shouting like usual.
Nezu loosely grabbed ahold of the medal's ribbon in both paws and asked with his eyes for me to let go. My jaw loosened, allowing the prize to slip free. Nezu stood on his toes and slung the thing over my head, which made me growl. Nezu ignored it, instead petting my spiky hair. "I wouldn't blame you for dropping out of UA after this." The principle sighed. "Though your behavior wasn't suitable either, locking you up like that wasn't the way to go. I greatly apologize on behalf of the entire school." I glared at the mouse. I could tell the principle was trying to be sympathetic, but it wasn't helping.
"I'm not leaving." I uttered.
"Oh?"
"Not a chance. I'll still be a hero, and I'll graduate from this school to do it! You're not getting rid of me that easily!" I pushed myself up, standing tall and strong over the principle.
Nezu smiled warmly. "..I'm glad to hear it."
(That's from the fic where I chopped off Bakugo's arms lol, separate from the fic where I chopped off his legs.)
-----
That's about when you showed up, sweating, panting, a general mess. "Hey!... Hey, Katsuki!" Your eyes widened at the sight of a creature here. The principle, you believe he was. Oh drats.
"What are you doing here?" Katauki snarled.
"Not to be rude, but guests aren't permitted access down here.."
"Well you aren't permitted to tie up my brother like that!.. Come on, Katsuki!"
Katsuki was arguable but silent as he walked up to you. You celebrated a moment with faint delight that he had actually listened to you! When he started to pass by, you reached over to rub his back. But he slapped your arm away from him and quickened his pace. "Don't think you did any kind of rescuing me today." He then glared over his shoulder, hands now deep in his pockets. "I don't need anything from the likes of you. Just stay out of my life."
You stood still, waiting for your brother to travel a substantial distance before even daring to move. You stared at the floor, fists clenched. By the time he was out of sight, two security guards were walking towards you.
The principle spoke beside you. "I'm sorry, Bakugo (Y/n), was it? But would you kindly allow yourself to be escorted off the premises?.. You're going to have to pay a fee as well."
"Drats..." 'It can only get worse from here-- no, no, stop that....'
'I'll be fine.'
----------
"I can't believe you actually got kicked out!" Natsuo laughed as he ran up to you.
"I know!!" You joined him. "And my budget just got halved too!"
The long time friend drove you home, and, after parking in front of your house, got out of the vehicle too.
"Will I be seeing you after this?" He rounded the car, stopping right in front of you.
You glanced back at the seat to make sure you hadn't forgotten anything. "Yeah probably, why?" Instead of an answer, you were trapped in a big hug. It was moments like these you were reminded of just how big the guy was. Wait, had he ever hugged you like this before?? The guy squeezed you tight, showing no signs of letting go. You, not used to this one bit, nervously pat his back. "You done, big guy?"
"Do you have to go..?" Wait, was that a whine? As in, sad??
You kept your hands on his back, relaxing a little more to let your face lean against his chest. "...Yeah. I- I already have my job figured out at least. Just need to find the best apartment with what money I have left."
"And You're sure you don't need my help?"
"Heh.. that's...sort of the whole point of moving... Trying to rely on nobody but myself for a change."
"Mh." He still wouldn't let go. Eventually, you had to wiggle your arms in between the two of you and pry yourself free. Only then did Natsuo let go.
The emotional weight of what was happening hit you suddenly as you looked up into the eyes of your longtime friend with watery eyes. You patted his arm and sniffled. "I... I'm going to miss you."
"Me too.."
"Gawhh! Nah, where's the stoic Natsu??"
"I'm...sorry I was never there for you the same way you were for me."
...
Took a while for his words to register. When they did, you blushed slightly and rubbed the back of your head. "It's nothing, really. I was just glad to have a friend." After an awkward pause between the two of you, "bye" you turned and left toward the front door. Natsuo watched, regret eating away at his heart.
'Yeah, but.. no doubt if I hadn't become your friend way back then... You would have made many more friends on your own...'
He knew there wasn't anything he could do or say to keep you around. So, he wished you luck one last time, then left.
----------
" 'Dear Bakugo family, ...and Ms. Inko, I wanted to talk to you about this in person, but, I chickened out every time. Yes, I know, Katsuki, I'm a coward an idiot and an extra.
I won't be gone for long. At least, I hope not. That isn't my intention to, at least. No, don't call for a search party, and no, don't try to find me yourselves. Like a dusty old cat, I'll return home when I want to. I'm just... tired. I want to try something new. A new life, name, everything. Nothing against you guys. I'm simply tired of the way my life has been going downhill. I want to fix that if I can. I promise to come back when I'm worthy of taking up your guys' time and space. Until then, don't worry, Mom, I'm not doing drugs.
That's all I have to say. Hope to see everyone soon. Whether that be days, weeks, months, or maybe even a year or two. Hope you guys will understand.
Okay, bye for real this time.' "

A chain smokin' old lady opened the door and handed me the keyes. "And remember, no loud noises past 7PM. Got it?"
"Yes ma'am!" You nodded. You waited for the woman to hike up the cellar stairs. Concrete was on either side, keeping the dirt from caving in. This was actually a basement, technically. Accessible via a door to the side of this small lot. The house on top of yours was actually quite cute. Somehow, it had survived demolition for over a hundred years. All the buildings surrounding it were new, plain, and tall. Yet this little lot somehow kept its charm. Like a pocket in time.
After the lady left, you entered the small one room lot now completely your own. The only window was in the door itself, which an old green curtain hung over. The carpet was green and dingy. Might be better to rip the whole thing out. In the corner to the right was perhaps the smallest kitchenette you'd ever seen. In the left distant corner was the bathroom door. Directly left of you was a creaky old bedframe probably old as the house itself, and to the right was the wall. Yeah, it just kinda ended there... Apparently the basement was split in to a while back so these people could house more than on person at a time.
You took in a good long breath of air-- oghh!.. Bad idea.. You left the door open to allow in some fresh air. As you entered, you set down two big bags. The only things you brought with you from your previous life.
So... This was the new crib, huh?.. Definitely, uhh, needed a few patch ups here and there.
Kinda exciting, in its own special way. You kinda felt like the main character at the beginning of one of those rags to riches movies. You hoped this was like the start of one of those movies!
It was hard to imagine yourself succeeding beyond where you were in your last life, but at the very least you could imagine yourself improving from this!
"Oh! Yeah! Miss!" The lady came hobbling down the stairs toward you, a clipboard in hand. "I need you to sign this to confirm you agreed to this."
You chuckled and walked over to the woman. Grabbing the pen, you wrote your name... How was it spelled again? Oh yeah!
" '(Y/n) Nobodi.' " You snickered again. You weren't sure what you just started, but it sure was something new.
