The Battle Begins

Being trapped in a car at all times was not my specialty, but it was a lot better than walking, especially in these shoes. I only wished that I had my black boots to change into. They would be a whole lot more useful than these "heels". I could already sense I was going to break one of my legs by the end of this trip.

Another thing that was beginning to slightly bother me was my arm. The bleeding had come to a halt but I was almost positive that once I was up and at it again, it would resume. The wound itself was beginning to sting quite a lot; there was also dried blood on my arm, my clothes, and especially my hand from where I had been holding my arm. It was rather disgusting but there wasn't anything I could do about it until this was over or at least until I came across a water spicket and the odds of that were very slim.

There was also another complication regarding my injury. I couldn't bend my arm because of the wound's location and this could prove to be a major problem once I began running again considering the small fact that humans required the use of both of their arms to help aid them during running. As of right now I could tell that luck was not on my side.

My dad, his team, and the Autobots were located in a small town roughly seven miles from where we had discovered the matrix. Though Bumblebee had been going at least one hundred miles an hour, we still had about three and a half miles to go, much to my despair.

Suddenly there was a streak present in the sky. I noticed it to be flare. The soldiers were signalling to us their precise location.

"That's them right there," I claimed as I pointed into the sky.

"You see the flare?" Simmons asked.

"Yeah. That's why I just said that," I responded sassily. He shook his head at me. The next thing I knew, missiles were exploding on the ground beside us. Bumblebee swerved all over the road while trying to avoid the projectiles. The seat belt was wrapped tightly around my body as I shifted roughly inside his cabin.

"Sam!" Mikaela yelled.

Another shot hit and the car swerved again. Leo was trembling beside me and suddenly the windshield was covered in dust and dirt. We were now off the road and on some sort of construction site. The explosions continued and it didn't take long for me to realize that this was the work of Starscream.

"Oh God please, God please. I don't want to die. Please just let me live, just let me live!" Leo exclaimed and continued crying. I rolled my eyes. If anything Sam and I were the ones who should be crying right now.

"Yo, just stop freaking out!" Mikaela retorted.

"Gosh, just shut this guy up!" Simmons spoke not long after that. Leo's cries only got louder.

"Alright that's it!" Simmons yelled as he turned around and stuck a taser into Leo's neck.

I watched as Leo cried out in pain before slipping out of consciousness, my mouth agape. Simmons turned back around and sighed.

"Can't take that guy anymore," he huffed.

There was another explosion in front of us and then Starscream's Cybertronian form appeared in front of us. Bee drove through his legs in hopes to evade him but the bot continued firing shots at us. I groaned.

"I have about had it with this metallic piece of space shit," I exclaimed.

Sam laughed. "You and I both."

Bumblebee rolled to a stop and the seat belt was removed from my body. The four of us and Leo, who had just regained consciousness, climbed out of the car.

"We have to split up. Bumblebee, you're the decoy; you have to lead the Decepticons away. I'm going to get Optimus," Sam spoke.

"I'm going to help draw their fire. You get to those soldiers. I hope that dust works kid," Simmons said.

"Thank you," Sam said as he grabbed me and Mikaela.

The three of us began to run through the construction zone and my injury was already proving this task to be difficult, but I didn't dare let it stop me.

We ran until we came to a small hill that overlooked a little village. I stopped and took a deep breath. I was feeling exceptionally tired but it was only because I was running through sand with one arm to aid me. It was hard work to say the least.

Two more flares flew up into the sky and I breathed out a sigh of relief.

"There it is. We got a couple miles," Sam breathed. He gestured me to continue down the hill so I did.

This was absolutely the worst thing in the world. I was fit and very much in shape, but the terrain I exercised on was clearly different from this. My injury didn't make it any better either. If anything, it was getting worse. My arm was now bleeding again so I had to hold on to it, and without both arms, running was exceptionally difficult; I just hoped I didn't pass out from blood loss over the next hour or so. Also, these shoes were killing my feet; if they weren't off my feet before the end of this, I would be surprised.

"I'm going to die," I croaked out as I crawled over a sand dune.

It was hot as hell here in Egypt. We had stopped running to take a small break, but soon enough we would be back at it; we couldn't risk being found at this point. Sam pulled me up from the ground and started running down another hill.

"We still have a mile that way. Come on," he instructed.

I groaned but held on lightly to his injured left hand while Mikaela firmly grasped his right one. We were now entering through a bunch of ruins and buildings. Sam pulled us into a large building filled with ancient statues and columns. If I wasn't so focused on not dying, I probably would have stopped to marvel at the beauty.

He stopped and looked around the huge area before pulling us with him again. What I wanted to know is why he would even think to grab my bloody ass hand? His bandages were covered in my blood but he didn't even seem phased by it. Myself on the other hand was rather perturbed.

I stopped dead in my tracks when I heard the sound of a low, menacing growl. Turning around, I looked to see that Megatron was now perched on top of the pyramid we had just recently come from. Starscream appeared shortly after that and before I knew it, Megatron's loud voice echoed through the air.

"Decepticons, begin our assault!" My eyes widened and I turned back to Sam and Mikaela.

"We need to go now," I said as I started running again.

They followed closely behind me. What seemed to be meteors flew through the air, but I knew better. These were Decepticons.

Sam was now in front of me as we ran back through the sand and into the village which, by the way, was now overrun with Decepticons. If we were found, we were definitely screwed.

Mikaela and I were pulled behind a building. Starscream was up in the sky circling the area and I was happy as long as he wasn't down here with me. Sam walked out a little bit, but Mikaela and I stayed back. Her eyes perked up as she spotted a wooden door and she ran over, myself following closely behind her.

"Sam," Mikaela whispered as she opened up the door.

I wasted no time in running inside. I ran over and sat down in front of a stained glass window. Mikaela and Sam ran in soon after. Sam instructed Mikaela to get down so she came over to sit beside me. Sam doubled back to us and knelt down in front us.

"Once it's clear, we run for Optimus as fast as we can, okay?"

Mikaela sighed. "What if it doesn't work?"

I grabbed her hand and she looked at me. "It's going to work, Mikaela."

"Yeah but what if it-"

I cut her off.

"It's going to work. Just trust us," I whispered to her.

Sam grabbed the both of our hands once again and started to pull us to the door until there was a loud crash on the ground. I jumped back into my spot with Mikaela and she squeezed my hand. Sam ran over to the wall. Another crash could be heard and I found myself trembling with fear. Mikaela copped a hand over her mouth.

The crashes continued; they sounded more like footsteps than anything else though. .extremely close footsteps. I was truly scared now. If we were found now, then who knew what the Decepticons would do to us. I knew that I would be used as their egg hatchery, but what would they do with Sam and Mikaela? Sam was of use to them, but once they got what they wanted from him then they would surely just get rid of him altogether. Mikaela on the other hand had no significant part in this. There was no doubt in my mind that they would kill her as soon as they got their hands on her and I did not want that to happen.

I looked over to see Sam holding a small mechanical bug in his hand. Very slowly he ripped the head off of it and then suddenly a loud growl could be heard, followed by the roof being ripped away from the building we were hiding in. I screamed loudly and Sam motioned for Mikaela and I to run.

We ran to the wall and my eyes met the very red optics of Starscream. For a fraction of a second, his optics dimmed but glowed brightly again as he slammed his hand into the building with enough pressure to knock out the wall we were in front of. We climbed up a flight of stairs, barely missing being hit by the chain of a different Decepticon.

We stopped on the roof of the building, Sam grabbing us both again.

"Alright, we have to jump okay?" I nodded and he pulled the two of us back. We ran and jumped, a cloud of dust, debris, and rock smothering us as Starscream shot the building behind us. We landed on the roof but the impact of the landing sent us rolling off of the roof and through a bed of palm leaves. I cried out in pain as I landed on my arm.

"Are you okay?" Mikaela asked me. I nodded and stood back up.

"Come on," Sam said.

The two of us ran behind him. We ran passed a couple of houses before coming to a ruined column. In front of me, I could see nothing but smoke, fire, and gunfire. It was truly an awful sight.

"We've got about half a mile. I don't think the soldiers know we're here," Sam said.

"We need to go," I breathed out. My arm was bleeding even more now.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Sam asked me.

I smiled. "Yeah. I promise. I'll be fine."

"Well, then let's get to it."

Sam began running and Mikaela and I ran after him. He jumped over a car, something I found to be unnecessary. Mikaela aided me as we ran down yet another hill. Three figures now stood in front of us, two of them I recognized as Sam's parents and the other was my mother. My eyes widened and I stepped up to Sam. He stopped in front of us and raised his arms up.

Before long the three of us were on the ground, a bright red Decepticon hovering over Mikaela, Sam, and me. I quickly got up and stood with Sam, the both of our parents very frantic over the situation.

"Wait!" I called.

Our parents continued to yell at us.

"I want you to run!" Sam's dad yelled.

"Lea, get out of here!"

"All of you! Just stop! They don't want you, they want us," Sam told them.

A metal belt came crashing down onto the ground, nearly crushing our parents. My heart almost burst through my chest. Sam stepped forward and tried to calm the robot. I inched a bit closer to him. He removed the dust filled sock from his pocket and held it out to the bot.

"Sam Witwicky, Azalea Lennox," the bot growled. I gulped.

"Don't hurt them! This is what you want. You don't want them," Sam started.

"Just get out of here," my mom called.

"Just stop," I yelled to her.

A whistle could be heard behind us. I turned my head to see Bumblebee standing behind a pillar waving a gun in his hand. I sighed in relief and turned back to the bot.

"Just don't hurt them. I know what you want. And I know that you need me because I know about the matrix. And you need her. How else are you supposed to build your precious little army?"

I gulped again and placed my bloody hand on Sam's shoulder.

"Sam," I squeaked. He shushed me.

"Don't do it! They're going to kill us all already," Sam's dad yelled.

"Dad stop! Here's what you want. It's right here," the bot slammed another chain down on the ground. "Bumblebee!"

Bumblebee jumped on top of the bot and Sam pulled me over to Mikaela, crouching in front of us in a protective notion. I watched as Bumblebee fought the robot.

"Kill him, Bee. Kill him," Sam grumbled.

My heart was ready to burst from my chest. This was definitely worse than the base attack two years ago.

Bumblebee threw punches and dodged them. He was quite the superb fighter if I did say so myself. If he hadn't shown up, we all would've been dead by now.

Pained cries came from the Decepticon as Bumblebee snapped his limbs. The brawl continued but another bot was advancing in on Bumblebee. It shared the resemblance of a dog and was honestly quite scary. He shot multiple rounds at Bee before jumping onto his back. Bee let out a few whirs as the bot clawed into his armor but he didn't take long to retaliate. He grabbed the bot by the tail and pull him off before yanking the mutt apart.

He tossed the now dead bot to the ground before turning back to continue with the Con. I backed towards a rusty car where my mom, along with Sam's parents were crawling over. My mom latched onto my bad arm and I grimaced. She quickly pulled away.

"What happened to you?" she inquired angrily.

"Nothing. I'm fine."

In one swift movement, Bee detached the rest of the bot's limbs and it fell limply to the ground. Bumblebee turned to us and Sam nodded at him. I grabbed my mom's hand with my good arm and got up from the ground, following Sam, Mikaela, and his parents to a rock arch.

"I don't know what's going on, but we have to move," Sam's dad called from in front of rusty car.

A number of explosions sounded behind us and I quickly pulled my mom into a protective hold. She was nearly in tears. I couldn't stand to watch this anymore.

"Bumblebee!" I yelled. He peeked from around the corner.

"You get them somewhere safe, okay?" Sam said. He nodded and transformed. I turned to my mom.

"Listen to me. You're going to go with Bumblebee okay? He's going to keep you safe," I told her.

The tears flowed down her face. "No. I'm not going without you."

I placed my right hand on her cheek. "You have to. I can't leave Sam and Mikaela. Just trust me. You're going to be okay, momma. Bee will keep you safe."

She squeezed my hand before engulfing me in a hug. I squeezed her as tight as I could with one arm and pulled away.

"You better come back, Azalea."

I smiled at her. "I will, mom. Please just go."

She nodded and began running to Bumblebee's alternate mode with Sam's parents. I sighed as I watched them disappear from view. All I wanted was for this to be over, but I wasn't giving up without a fight.
