I have spent three long, agonizing months at this university and I believed it was about time for me to have a break or at least I felt I deserved one. Thankfully today I would finally get that break. I was getting completely tired of the hundreds of morons here, my classes hadn't once failed to stress me out and I was dying to sleep in my own bed which my mother had so nicely moved into the new house.
I also couldn't wait to see my family when I got back home. Talking to my mom and dad every other day on the phone was nice, but I preferred to see them in person. It may sound pretty lame to most people my age, but I actually missed hanging out with and spending time with my parents. They did give birth to me after all. And though every year since Braelynn's death, I had spent my birthday with her family instead of my own I was still very happy I got to spend my birthday at home with them, so this was another plus.
Nothing exciting had really been happening here at Princeton University though. If anything, it had been about the same as it had been after I returned here from Egypt. I was still more than upset over the Ironhide situation, of course. The pain only seemed to be getting worse and worse by the month but I was also becoming better at managing it. It sucked, though, that I wasn't going to get to even see him while I was home for two months and I knew that was going to kill me inside. I would be so close to him but I would also be so far. It just didn't register well with me.
On the other hand I had decided to changed myself once again. .kind of. After not doing anything too drastically damaging with my hair for three months, it grew back out. Instead of being two inches below my shoulders, it was now about five inches below my shoulders and I was more than happy about that. The only thing I wasn't particularly fond of was my blonde roots and this had forced me to dye my hair back to blonde. I was absolutely thrilled about this; I had missed my full, long hair so much.
Currently I was shoving clothes into my suitcase, much to my despair. The only bad thing about this whole break dilemma was that I was sick. Ironic, huh? For the past three days or so I have felt like absolute shit. It even caused me to miss all of my classes for this week. My nose was stuffed, I had a horrible cough along with an enormous amount of chest pain, and my throat had never been so sore in my life. I could still talk but I could tell that I was getting close to acquiring laryngitis. I blamed the bipolar weather for this horrible sickness. One day it was snowing and the next day it was almost sixty degrees. I didn't understand it at all.
I groaned as I threw the last of the clothes I was taking into my suitcase. After pulling the case shut, I zipped it up before walking over to sit it by the door. The bathroom door burst open and Adalyn walked out. I gawked at her outfit. She was dressed in a pastel pink skirt, a white tank top with black detailing covering the front of it along with a black leather jacket and her black heels.
"You look cute," I croaked out.
She smiled at me. "Thank you. And even for a sick person you look outrageously beautiful," she told me.
I smiled though I didn't like my outfit nearly as much as I liked hers. I had on a droopy grey sweater, black skinny jeans, a black knit infinity scar, and my black ankle booties. It was very casual but it was also cute and the heels also managed to add a hint of dressiness to it.
"Are you ready to go?" I asked her.
She nodded and walked over to grab her suitcase. "More than I'll ever be. Are you sure you still don't want me to drive?" she inquired worriedly.
I nodded. "I think I'll be fine. Now we just have to say goodbye to Leo and Sam before leaving," I muttered.
As I made a move towards the door, it burst open and in walked none other than Sam and Leo. I groaned.
"We were going to come and see you guys. Why are you here?" I squawked.
Leo shot me a look."Why do you still sound like a walrus?" I pouted.
"No, but seriously. Why are you guys here?" Adalyn asked.
Sam held up a fancy envelope and held it over to me. I grabbed it and looked at the writing on the paper. My breath nearly stopped.
"I stopped to get your mail for you and that was in there. The president wrote you! Why would the president write you?" Sam babbled.
Adalyn dropped her suitcase and ran over to me at the mention of the words president and wrote. I had written him months ago. I never expected to get anything back from him.
"Well, are you going to open it or are you just going to stand there like an idiot?" Leo pressed.
I glared at him but ripped open the envelope and took out the piece of paper that was placed nicely inside. I unfolded the sheet of paper and wasted no time in looking at the printed words.
November 20, 2009
Dear Miss Lennox,
I do apologize for taking so long to get back to you but I am writing you personally to inform you that I have read every last word of your letter and I have to say that I am not very happy with the information you have provided me with.
This is the first I've heard of this insanely ridiculous request. You should be happy to know, though, that I have not ordered and nor would I ever order Galloway to revoke yours, Samuel's & Mikaela's clearance to the Autobots.
I have been very well informed about the few civilians that are involved with the Autobots and you three among the few of them. I have known since the near beginning of my presidency of the relationships that you, Sam, and Mikaela share with the Autobots. I know Bumblebee was sent to take care of Sam and I know that you are Ironhide's mate. I can also assure you that I am not judging nor would I judge you because of your life choices. Love is love after all.
In other words, I am very pleased to grant you, Sam, and Mikaela back your clearance to be involved with the Autobots. You are free to communicate with them and you are more than free to be within the same vicinity as them. I will also work on a way to reconnect you to their communication links as well. If anyone at all has an issue with this at all, just show them this letter or tell them to come see me personally about the situation.
I truly could never have the heart to separate someone from whom they love whether it be human & human or human & alien. And I do thank you very much for being brave enough to write me this letter. As for the Galloway situation, I will take matters into my own hands but all I will tell you is that you needn't worry about him anymore.
Thank you again and I hope this letter has made your day worthwhile. Take care, Miss Lennox.
Sincerely,
President Barack Obama
I could hear Adalyn gasp as she finished reading the words written by the president. Suddenly I felt everything in my body shift. Everything took a sudden turn and it felt almost as if every single emotion in my body had been drained; every emotion except for anger.
The only emotions I could feel in my body at the moment were hate and anger; an overpowering amount of hate and anger. My sickness was completely forgotten. I was very livid right now and I had never been this angry in my entire life. This wasn't just any type of anger either. I was literally ready to fight like I never had before. Who might these feelings be towards? Theodore Galloway.
Three months of my fucking life had been ripped away from me for no plausible cause at all. Not only me though, but Sam and Mikaela as well. I always knew there was something sketchy about his claim; the way he changed the reasoning every sixty seconds, the way he was so happy doing it. He had only done this to bait me. He had done this to get back at me for the way I treated him back at the base. I had told him that I didn't need his clearance or anyone else's clearance to see the Autobots. This had just been his way of "proving his authority" to me in the worst way he thought he possibly could.
"Lea, what's wrong? What did he write?" Sam asked me.
I just handed him the letter. Him and Leo looked over it for a few seconds before I saw a flash of anger on Sam's face and Leo's expression was that of shock. Sam handed the letter back to me and I quickly looked at the date. It had only been written and sent yesterday. This meant that he probably hadn't taken care of his little problem yet.
"What are we supposed to do about this?" Sam exclaimed. I looked at him, a hard expression on my face.
"You're not going to do anything because you have a plane to catch in an hour. I on the other hand am more than ready to show him who's actually in charge here," I spat.
My throat burned as I spoke, but I did my best to ignore it. This was not the time for me to crack under my sickness.
"What do you plan on doing?" Adalyn asked me.
"We're going to take a little detour on the way to my house and you're going to meet some new friends," I smirked.
Her eyes were wide. "Friends as in Autobot friends?" she chimed. I nodded and Sam blinked at me.
"Azalea, they'll throw you in jail the second they lay their eyes on you," he exclaimed.
I scoffed. "Let any one of them lay a single finger on me and I swear I will detach the appendage without blinking," I said to him.
Leo backed away from me and Adalyn stared at me wide eyed, obviously frightened by my small outburst.
"She's actually a very dangerous person if you weren't already aware of that," Sam stated to the girl beside me.
"And Galloway and the rest of his puppets are about to find out just how dangerous I am."
"Have you ever seen her this mad before?" Adalyn whispered to Sam.
He shook his head. "No and I'm actually quite frightened at the moment."
I shot him a look and folded the piece of paper up before putting it back into the envelope.
"Don't be. It's not you who I intend to hurt," I assured him.
He gulped. "Why are you going to do this?"
I narrowed my eyes at Sam. Leo had already fled the room because he was so frightened.
"First and foremost, I despise the putrid little insect. Secondly, he ripped my life away from me without any plausible jurisdiction to do so. After I told him off that day at the base, he decided he was going to try to prove his authority to me by hurting me in more ways than possible. And lastly, he messed with you and Mikaela. I don't play that shit and he's definitely going to learn today," I snapped.
I walked over to pick up my suitcase and the rest of my belongings before turning back to Sam.
"If all goes well, I'll call you from jail. Have a nice break, Samuel," I said as I walked out of my dorm room with Adalyn close behind me.
If Galloway thought he was going to get away with this, then he was most certainly wrong. In three hours, if not less, he was going to be completely aware of the mistake he made and I would make sure of it. He honestly had no clue what I, a little nineteen year old girl, was capable of and if he thought that hell was hard then he definitely was not prepared for what he had coming to him.
