CHAPTER 02
"Okay soldiers. There is a life on the line. We gotta work fast and save this child!"
----------------
It didn't take long for the vehicle to arrive at the location that Graves had located. It seemed to be a normal family home. He looked at his soldiers and puts a finger on his lips. Then he crouched next to the door before pushing it open. The hostiles in there had no chance. Shadow company ended them surprisingly and cold.
"Clear!"
Graves nodded and looked around. This place was absolutely demolished. He asked himself what those terrorists seemed to be looking for. Documents? Or was it an act of revenge? Did they just intrude this house for fun or were they about to turn it into an undercover base? There were so many options.
He snapped back to reality and stepped over a dead body. "Soldiers. Did you find the child yet?" he asked and looked at his men. But they all shook their heads.
What if this all was just a joke? The commander frowned slightly. No. This couldn't be a joke. He didn't believe it could be. He looked up when he heard a noise. It sounded like clothes rubbing against metal. Like...there was something in the vents.
Graves walked up to the wall and pointed a flashlight at the vent holes. His eyes widened when he saw someone looking back at him.
"Son of a bitch... The child is in the vents!"
He quickly pulled the vent cover of the wall and stepped back so the boy could exit safely. Nothing moved for about five minutes. And Graves honestly understood. That kid must be completely terrified.
"It's okay, kid. Im Phillip Graves, remember? We talked already. Shadow Company is here to save you" His voice is gentle and quiet, not how he usually talked. But he didn't want to scare that boy even more. So he got down on one knee and waited.
It actually worked. The sound of shuffling got louder until, feet first, a little boy exited the vents, he couldn't be older than five. He was completely covered in dust and bruises and stared at Graves with big teary eyes. Was he safe now? He had problems believing it just yet.
"We are here to save you, Nicholas" Graves just repeated and gestured for his men to get down as well. "Do you know where your parents are?" he then asked and looked at the boy with a gentle, caring expression. Nicholas reminded him of his son. Oh. No no. Bad moment. He shook his head slightly.
Nicholas was quiet for a few moments and then took a few shaky breaths. "They...are gone. The bad men took them" he then slowly whispered and looked down at the floor.
Graves frowned slightly and nodded. "I can ensure you that we will do everxthing to get you and your parents back together. We will save them too, i promise" he explained and gave the boy a slight smile in a try to cheer him up.
"No sir...You don't understand. The bad men shot my parents..." the boy mumbled as his eyes fill with tears again. He let out a quiet sob.
The smile on Graves' face dropped and he could feel his heart drop as well. "...kid im so sorry."
