Chapter 2
•••••••••
Paul opened the door and brought in a few bags.
"Hey, Jane. How are you doing?"
"I'm doing pretty well, I turned on the TV and one of my favorite shows came on!"
"Well that's good, which show?"
"I Love Lucy."
"Oh, I love that show!"
I smiled. "So what do you got in there?" I motioned toward the bags he set on the counter.
"Well, I got some groceries and those clothes for you." He took out the clothes and showed them to me.
"Some pajamas... a few shirts... some skirts... a couple dresses, some shoes... and erm, a few bras & underwear. I tried my best at guessing the right sizes for you, so you should try them on and if they don't fit, we can go exchange them."
"Okay, I'll try them on now." I gathered the clothes into my arms and walked into the bathroom.
"Oh by the way, I got some other stuff that I thought you might need" Paul shouted across the room.
"Okay!"
I closed the door to the bathroom and locked it. I looked at all the clothes again. Wow, so this is what clothes are like in the 60s. It's so different compared to clothes of 2017. A lot more formal. I tried on the dresses first. They fit perfectly! I started humming Yes It Is, because I was wearing a pretty red dress. It also reminded me of a story I wrote on Wattpad. I would just sit back, relax, and write. Oh, I miss my Wattpad friends so much. I started feeling really bad. I wonder what everyone's up to on there... I leaned my back against the wall and slowly fell to the floor, eventually crying. What if I never see my friends or family again? What'll happen if I'm stuck here forever? I'm not meant to be here, even though I'd love to live in the 60s. I guess I should start moving on just in case I can't get back. I focused on my breathing because I realized I wasn't actually breathing at all. Breathe in... And out. In, and out.
"Hey, you okay in there, Jane? It's nearly been a half hour since you went in there."
"Oh, yeah, I'm alright. I'm just a little homesick but it's okay."
"Are you sure?... Can I come in?"
I unlocked the door. "Sure."
I had bloodshot eyes and mascara rolling down my cheeks.
"Oh my gosh, you don't look too well! Come here." Paul gave me a long, caring hug. Just the fact that a Beatle is holding me in his arms makes me immediately feel so much better.
"So what you said about being homesick... I'm so sorry about that. I'll do anything to make sure you feel better. Okay? Although I just met you, I trust you and you should trust me too. You can talk to me about anything. I don't want you keeping it all in." Paul looked down at me with a small smile.
"Okay, I'll trust you too." I smiled. Then I frowned. "Paul, what if I don't ever go home? What if I'm stuck here forever? I won't be able to see any of my family or friends unless I contact them when I'm older. Then they'd think I'm crazy!" I started crying.
"Shhhh don't worry about a thing. Even if you don't go home, you'll still have me because I'll take care of you until you're able to live on your own. I'll teach you how to live in 1963, and it'll be alright. And I feel awful saying this, but you're going to need to start moving on from what you left behind in 2017. I promise it'll make you feel better."
"You promise? I looked up at him like a little child.
"I promise." He held onto my shoulder and stared at me for a long time. I stared straight back. Okay, he totally likes me!
"So, tell me about yourself, I'd like to get to know you." Paul smiled.
I blushed. Why are you blushing, Jane? Geez. "Well, I was born in Indiana, 1999, which makes me 17. I have a brother and sister, and they're pretty nice to me. I don't like school, but I love the Beatles," I blushed again.
"Oh, you do now?" Paul smirked at me.
"Yeah," I said quietly and blushed even harder.
"So who do you like the most?"
At this point, my whole face was on fire. "Umm, I like all of you guys equally!" Man, I could've said I liked him the most, but I was too damn shy!
Paul was still smiling, but his eyes seemed a little more sad. "So you like all of us, huh? Maybe you'd like to meet the rest of the boys, then? I have to go to the recording studio soon, but I can bring you with me and you can meet everyone if you'd like."
Oh my gosh, I'm fangirling so much on the inside!!! "Oh, sure! That sounds great! Thank you so much!" I was so excited.
"Okay, well you should go ahead and get ready to leave. I gotta be there by 3:00 and it's 2:30 right now. I'll be in the living room if you need me." Paul smiled.
"Sounds good!"
I could tell Paul was a bit upset because I didn't say I was his favorite. I'll just tell him once I get to know him better.
"Oh! And here's a hairbrush, some toothpaste, and a toothbrush for you!"
"Oh, thank you!" Paul handed me the items.
"No problem," Paul smiled back.
I grabbed my new hairbrush and started brushing my hair out. Geez! My hair is so knotty! After about five minutes, I finished brushing my carrot-colored disaster of hair. I then grabbed my toothbrush and noticed how weird it was. It was really boxy and didn't really have any of those fancy bristles like they do in the future. Oh well. Well, technology has definitely advanced over the years. That reminded me. Where the heck is my phone? Oh, it's probably still left in the car. Anyways, it's not like it would be useful in 1963! ..You know what, I think I'll like living in the 60s, without all this technology.
I kept my red dress on and put on some black shoes that were a little too big for my feet. Oh well, better than wearing my old Converse.
I quickly wiped off the mascara from under my eyes and looked for mascara in Paul's cabinet. I'll laugh so much if I find mascara in here.
After a while, I finally found a small tube that said Maybelline Magic Mascara on it. I laughed so loud and so hard that my stomach hurt. Paul heard the ruckus and walked over.
"Jane, what's the matter? Why are you laughing so much?" Paul looked so confused. Then he saw the mascara tube I was holding and stood there like a deer in headlights.
"Care to explain, Paul?" I said with a smirk.
"Why yes, I'd love to explain. That's my, uh, friend's mascara. She left it here one day, so I keep it in that cabinet just in case she wants it back." That was a close one, there.
I knew he was lying, but I just played along with it. "Well, is it okay if I use some?"
Paul contemplated for a few seconds and then said, "I guess- um yeah, that's fine."
"Okay, thank you." I smirked at him a little.
"You're welcome. So, let's say five minutes, and then we'll leave. Is that alright with you?" Paul ran his fingers through his hair.
"Yeah, that's perfect." I smiled.
•••••••••
Paul and I walked out the door and headed over to the recording studio. I wonder what they're recording right now. I know they release their Please Please Me album on the 11th, so they must be doing one of their last songs on the album.
Man, is it cold out. I pushed my hands into my pockets, trying to get warm. "Gosh, it's so cold in Liverpool!" I laughed a little.
"I know right! I mean, I'd change the weather for you but that's impossible." Paul shrugged and I laughed.
"Well, it's alright!" I didn't really know what to say. I wasn't sure if he was hinting that he liked me or not...
We opened the door to the recording studio and I was a little bit nervous. I hope they won't think I'm weird or in the way when they're recording.
"Hey, Jane." Paul put his hand on my shoulder, and then said, "You don't have to be worried about the boys. They're really nice guys and I promise you they won't be rude at all!" Paul gave me a reassuring smile.
"Okay," I smiled back. I was still a little nervous, but I couldn't help that. I mean, I'm about to meet the Beatles! They make up the greatest band known to history, and the funny thing is that they don't even know it yet!
We walked into the recording room, and I could hear some guitars being tuned and some drums being played. Then I heard John say, "Hey! It's Paulie boy!"
"Yup, and Jane!" Paul pointed to me.
I stood there blushing, and John, George and Ringo all said "Hello there Jane!!" With big smiles. Paul was right, they already seem like really nice guys!
"Hi." I said shyly, twiddling my thumbs.
"So how do you know Paul?" John said with a smile.
Oh boy. "Well, we kind of just ran into each other today, and we started talking... and yeah." Paul didn't change his expression, he played along with it because he knew that they wouldn't believe it if I told them the truth.
"Yup, and she's a very nice girl." Paul smiled.
"Can I talk to you for a moment, Paul?" John asked.
"Um, sure."

Paul's POV
John and I walked over to the corner of the room.
"So you got yourself a nice bird, eh?" John smirked.
"Uh, yeah. She's a nice one." I didn't really know what to say, I didn't plan this ahead.
John could tell I was hiding something. "Paul. Tell me the truth. I can tell you're lying."
"Well..." I hesitated.
"Just say it!"
"Okay, okay. It's just, I don't know if you'd believe me at all when I say this but Jane is... from the future. 2017 to be exact."
John just stood there for a good few seconds. "Are you lying to me, Macca? Because if you are, you're gonna regret it." John was very serious. He believed in a lot of the extraordinary, so I knew that at least he would believe me.
"No I am not lying. I swear on my mother's tombstone that I'm telling you the truth." I looked at him dead-serious.
John stood there astonished. "So how could this have happened? How did you actually find her?"
"Her and I have no idea how it happened, but she appeared in my bedroom and I heard her so I ran over and she told me she was from 2017."
John looked amazed. "Wow, that's so weird."
"I know," I said.
After an awkward pause, John said, "Here, let's start recording. We only have a few hours to finish Twist and Shout." John headed over toward everyone.
—————————
Jane's POV
John and Paul walked back over. Ringo, George, and I talked about the weather while they were talking.
"So," John said. "We are going to be recording a song called Twist and Shout." Then everyone got up and walked over to their instruments and John shouted, "one, two, three, four!" And they all harmonized into that great song.
I love this song so much oh my gosh. John's voice is awesome in this too. I bet this is the version that'll be put into the album. I smiled really big as they played. Ringo was happily bopping his head, George was tapping his feet, Paul was smiling really big and moving his head side to side, and John was bouncing to the beat. They're great.
The last strum blasted through the studio and I clapped and jumped up and down like a little girl. "That was amazing, guys! I can't believe I'm here watching this!!"
"Well believe it or not" Paul laughed.
