Chapter Seven

Nate and I got off the plane and started to head to the hotel that we planned to stay in.
"Bonjour! Ça va?" Nate called out.
"What the hell are you doing?" I asked.
"Brushing off my French." He said. "What are you doing?"
"You're weird." I said, beginning to walk faster. "I hope you know it."
"Woah, slow down!" He said. "We gotta take in the sights."
"You know we can't do that." I said. "We gotta get this done and then leave."
"Why can't we just let loose for a while?" He asked. "Why are you so uptight?"
"We can't be seen that much." I said. "We'll be suspected of stealing the painting if we do."
"Who says that we're actually going to get away with it?" He asked.
"I'm starting to regret picking you." I said.
"Now, don't be so mean." He said. "I'm not that unbearable."
"You're starting to be." I grumbled.

"Holy shit dude! This is awesome!"
I had to agree with Nate, our room is pretty awesome. It had this huge bed and the room looked like it was straight out of a castle. And it sure did make me feel like a queen.

The feeling didn't last long because Miss Morrison called.
"If my calculations are correct," She said. "then you should be in your hotel at this exact moment. And you better be, because I'm never wrong."
"We are." I said. "Don't worry."
"Wonderful." She said. "Let's make this quick because Mat is still out driving my car and I have to call him."
"Right." I said.
"So, have you two decided your plan on how you're going to get this thing?" She asked.
"We're still tying a few loose ends." I lied.
"Excellent." She said. "Well, call me as soon as you possibly can with your plan. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll need to get my car back."
She hung up and I put my phone in my pocket.
"Nate, we need to get down to business." I said.
"Great!" He said. "The bed's right there."
I slapped him harder than I have ever slapped someone in my whole life.
"Relax." He said, placing a hand on the cheek I had slapped. "I was just kidding. Jesus."
"Well, can we just get down to business?" I asked. A smile formed on his smile. "And not that kind of business."
"Fine." He said, carefully placing a hand on my shoulder. He looked at me, as if expecting me to shoo him away.
"I guess maybe it can wait." I muttered. It suddenly felt like I needed someone to hug me. "But let's just brainstorm, okay?"
